yes they are shoehorning this crap in to make the covenants "work" and "unique" but its working out terribly. Have you seen what they are doing in the raid fights to account for these? It's a disaster. They are ruining the game trying to do this.
How did we ever survive the days where rogues and leatherworkers were needed to full tribute Dire Maul, or blacksmiths/engineers would let you skip part of The Shattered Halls?
Surely this will be disabled above +0.... surely....
Good addition, especially, if its gonna be used in Myhtic +.Partially because it gives opportunity to participate for different players, partially because of the salty tears of people who want everything in the game to be the same.
People complaining about “yet another layer of discrimination for M+”. How about thinking it as another criteria that will get you invited. Oh, you aren’t a prot warrior, blood dk, fire mage or rogue? Maybe with the right covenant you are now elligible because you bring a group buff that isn’t there without you, making you more valuable. There are classes that enjoy auto invite privileges just because they are considered optimal. This is simply blizzard trying to give other reason to invite, not just class / ilvl / spec / io. Give it a chance before freaking out.
Buffs? Fine (as long as they not escalate on shockbot-level)!A shortcut to skip a pack? Okay (can also use other means to skip, if I really want to skip that pack)! But please, for the love of god, don't tie waypoints to a specific covenant. Depending on the dungeon its an absolute desaster if you wipe on the last boss (or close to it) and have to run all the way back (mists is a great example) because your group of people you wanted to play with didn't choose the right covenant.I'm down for small boni that makes you say "Oh, nice to have your covenant available" - but a change of this scale does the opposite and provokes a "My chances to time the dungeon are way lower without this covenant available, so we need a XYZ" - something, we have already enough of...
I know there would be tears.Cataclysm did this with Archaeology... Bring the Profession not the class right?
While I like the RP factor, this would be godawful in m+.
I’m about to blow the mind of half of this community: did you know that you can completely get rid of “M+ discrimination” by organizing your own groups running your own keys! With YOU as the party leader, you can make sure to only invite low ilvl, low io, and off-meta specs to the group and eliminate discrimination in Azeroth!
I don't understand why everyone thinks of it as a huge deal for mythic +... a)Only 1 person needs to be from that covenant, not the entire party... this means the other four can be whatever covenant.b)If you play one of the unwanted class-specc combo, you are doomed without this, but if you have the proper covenant, you might have better chances to be picked.c)In the end, the community gives birth to elitism, not the game mechanics themselves.
I do like this idea a lot.Quite a bit, actually. I feel that is a way of helping to keep everyone important to some degree.Plus, it certainly makes it feel like the choice in covenant matters beyond simple power level.
I don't think every single bit of differentiation should be removed, would be rather boring. The checkpoints should be a standard thing though, you're not going to do the dungeon without one Night Fae otherwise anyway and does anyone enjoy running back? There should be more checkpoints in general, just have them for every dungeon.
I don’t see what’s the big deal about m+, when only one party member needs to be from a specific covenant. it will probably even be doable in time without making use of that mechanic. People complain about everything. If anything it helps making covenants viable that are not shoehorned into BiS ones or that have pvp focused covenants etc.
I like this a lot since it adds a lot of flavor to the covenant choices. On the topic of M+ I do not understand people's fears about not getting invited. Every single spec has timed +20 keys in BFA. Do people actually think they won't get to do M+ because of their covenant choice? The people who are not meta can just band together and run keys like they always have done.
