Definitely felt like an, "immovable object vs unstoppable force" I'm just glad they spoke to each other civil. They had a chance to vent and defend themselves. Interested to see how this information will be used after Beta.
Preach is a legend and has played for a really long time. He wants whats for the game and the players.
Ion - We want you to make a choice, and that choice will have consequences.Preacher - Okay, I want to choose everything so there aren't any consequences.Ion - That's not how it works.
Ion is, has and will always be(en) stubborn. He's basically a fire fighter that fight fire with a flame thrower. This covenant will be a $%^&storm like never before because no one asked to be restricted in our way to play that it's matters or not. You don't fight toxic behavior by fueling it all day with stupid systems no one asked for. After the terrible failure that have been azerite, then essences and finally, the cherry on top : corruption. We could think that someone would ask for accountability, because after such disaster, most people would be fired, but he seems fine and ready for the following @#$%show that will be covenants until, 6 month later, his direct superior will tell him to drop the system.
Preach thinks he speaks for the whole player base but only speaks for the top echelon of players. There's plenty of us that love that each covenant will have their own draws to their factions. Preach just wants everything handed to him and his players on a silver platter so he doesn't have to swap covenants when his raid leader tells him to go Maldraxxus for one mythic fight.
needs a relative simple way to switch Covenants until they work things out,,,,free change, change tokens, or similar method....even if it only after a major Covenant change
Nothing contains less choice than a system that has you swapping covenants for any given situation - that's not choice, it's incarceration in maths, or following some prescribed build on IcyVeins.Currently, covenants are a system that tell you, "X is better in situation 1 but not so good in situation 2, learn to adapt in 2 and enjoy 1." That seems much more preferable, and a challenge to a player's ingenuity, than a system that forces you into "Now change to X / now change to Y / now change to Z"?The community should start putting its best foot forward right now - we need folk to be assertive on this and pledge not to reject players based on Covenant choice. LFG could even have a channel for Any Covenant. Blizzard could also have embedded cooperation between covenants in Lore, possibly with some kind of synergy between different covenants that would promote diversity of choice. Seems its too late for that, though. But they need to think outside of the box on this, they seem to be placing their faith solely in maths.
In my opinion they are over complicating things, just keep it simple
