With all due respect, No. Please, please, PLEASE don't tell blizzard to balance Torghast. Community feedback is something that's very important for them right now, and if you've never played a roguelike please, with all due respect, stay out of the discussion on this one. Torghast IS a roguelike, and is shaping up to be a damn good one. Roguelike's should NEVER be balanced. So just for an examples, I will be using Slay The Spire, Binding of Isaac, and FTL: Faster than Light. I have played all of these extensively, and they are 3 very good examples for roguelikes. Every one of these games has a scoring system, all in points, actually. And none of the three are balanced in any meaningful way. That isn't to say they aren't fair, or that they're too easy or hard. They just make absolutely no effort to stop you from becoming completely overpowered. Faster than Light is the closest to being balanced with it's enemies scaling with your powerlevel and low effect modifiers, but the snowball potential of even FTL is the antithesis of balance. In both Binding of Isaac and slay the spire 2-3 lucky items can make you damn near invincible, and in both the insuing power can lead you to getting even further power, until you don't even need to be playing the game anymore. This is NOT unhealthy for the game, and is one of the appeals of roguelikes. Since it's chance based it's nothing you can reliably replicate in every game, there are safe options in both games, but both require more skill towards the beginning of runs, while you're fighting your way to your first big boon. This leads in to much higher highs when you've built up a synergy/build that just WORKS. This, I would say, is one of the three major cruxes of roguelikes, and theres no reason to think WoW should be any different. As far as leaderboards, Both Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire have points AND leaderboards. You have soft leaderboards, where any gamemode is allowed, and it's a pure show of points, and daily leaderboards, where every day each player can do one run with the same seed (meaning all chests contain the same thing for every player, all enemies/rooms are the same, etc...) in which you can play more competitively for high leader board spots. There's also no reason to think a similar system (Maybe confined by class, or atleast ranked by class) couldn't or wouldn't work, without needing to butcher the mode itself.
First time poster, my long comment didn't get posted for some reason so I'll try to make a tldr version of my solution to the waiting for cooldowns issue.Just add a cap on major CDs based on the size of the floor. Is the floor supposed to take 20 minutes. Just give the player/s 2 bloodlusts to play with (unless the player gets anima powers to increase the amount of BLs per floor) and then reset it floor by floor. If the player wish to use them on the last two packs then let them wait for the cooldown as a reward for not using it on earlier packs. Same can go for other abilities that may be considered "too overpowered". This way people can take their time without getting rewarded for doing so. Of course there may be some issues with this like boss floors, but maybe it can be capped based on amount of deaths you have left divided by amount of players in the group instead.I'm not saying this is perfect, but it probably is more accepted by both the developers and the players.
For the ones obsessing over feedback only from actual testers, here:https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/feedback-torghast-tower-of-the-damned/498548/135?u=rålph-barthilasAlpha testers keep pointing out how problematic the torments are and how they are not improving the game in any way and making the entire thing worse
I feel like this feature already cost us a raid tier.
"never revisited, so it needs to hook everyone."Well as long as timers are involved I will never visit it. It's already dead content for me as long as it has timers.
well, Paul looks quite sexy on this pic... he is generally ok, but holy cheese...this photo is nice!
Annoying isn't a legitimate criteria for game design, while i guess "gimme gimme gimme free stuff no worries no work" is a legitimate. Fortnite is available for those who want gimme gimme gimme.
i feel they r wasting too much time on this tower vs making real content that players will enjoy . and if so many think this will be fun how about remove all rewards from it cept cosmetics and lets see how many players actually do it . it will be a weekly chore most players will do to get it doen and over with just liek visions . but as i can see blizz hast learned a damn thing from bfa keep hearing they r listening to feedback this time around but every damn time aplha testers give feedback bliz drops a blue post with the reason why they did it and the excuse of "lets see how it goes " instead of " we hear u we will make changes " mark my words this tower will become vision/islands expos 2.0 an unjoyable chore that high end players will sell runs for lol .
