"WoW: RTX ON" sounds like a meme, but it's nice to see Blizz keeping up with emerging tech. I'm quite curious to see how it'll look, especially if they also implement improved lighting (especially from spell effects). Dozens of magical projectiles flying into a raid boss might be quite the disco.
Holy moly use your brain people. You will NOT have to upgrade your pc because of this update. You can see in the first screenshot that theres 4 settings to raytracing:1. Disabled2. Fair 3. Good4. HighOn another note: If your PC can barely handle the game on normal settings, how in the world can you even use that system? This game runs buttery smooth on a freaking toaster lmao
If it's meant for RTX cards it shouldn't have much impact if you have one, any other card won't be able to enable it anyway.
Maybe they will bring back dedicated full screen back.
That's not even Raytracing @darkthunderThis is a much better example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNdxiotnawc&t
so how many supercomputers we need to actually run WoW in 4k with 144 fps and 10 quality with ray traced shadows in 40 people raid?
It's possible that you will be able to enable ray-traced shadows on older nVidia cards (assuming you are willing to take a performance hit). Apparently the following non-RTX nVidia cards support software ray-tracing:GeForce GTX 1660 TiGeForce GTX 1660NVIDIA TITAN Xp (2017)NVIDIA TITAN X (2016)GeForce GTX 1080 TiGeForce GTX 1080GeForce GTX 1070 TiGeForce GTX 1070GeForce GTX 1060 6GBIt's not guaranteed though.
I bet it's gonna be beautiful, but my FPS will just die :') Even with a good configuration, Wow still a mess when you're in a zone with a lot of NPC/PC. Everytime i'm in Boralus, it's a total mess, i got only 45/50 fps while i'm around 100 in every other zone when i'm questing. Even when i'm in raid, it's more fluid...
I'm currently on a system I built in 2014 and I recently decided that it was time to upgrade and bought some new parts, including a GeForce RTX2070. Right now I play WoW on a 7 graphics setting, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the beautiful world as it was intended to be seen!
Hopefully they let more in to alpha soon, would love to test this on the lower end card, and the higher end card.
Just in time for my upgraded PC :D
Excited to get 50 FPS less. :D
Got a 2070 Super but only installed the GTX not RTX driver mainly cause its not worth the extra power usage, had a hard time on 1440p turning it to about 100w in wow, the gpu was always at PT 215w with everything on and no frame cap. If you play lots hours wow every day it adds up real fast, but sure im happy there are more options for those who want them.
