the thing is people shouldn't have to assume anything! blizzard handled this very poorly and lost a lot of players to it, no idea why they couldn't just roll back levels and be done with it.
Exploiting is in ToS as a bannable offense, ToS also says that at any time Blizzard can revoke your access to the game. This should be the end of discussion. People arguing that "it wasn't well communicated" are lying to themselves, it's been well communicated from the start, you exploit something you are liable to be banned. The potion was a clear exploit, anyone arguing otherwise is again lying to themselves. In order to accomplish this you had to split the potions into individual stacks, no one does this regularly while taking a flask, you knew exactly what you were doing while doing this. Someone discovered it by accident, word spread, people exploited it, they got punished. It wasn't handled poorly, it was handled extremely well, you exploit, you get punished, you cannot honestly claim that you didn't know what you were doing when you purposely split 30 stacks into singles to get 30 buffs. You cannot honestly argue that it was Blizzards fault for the bug in the first place and therefore you should get a free pass, that argument is entirely negated by the ToS clause on exploits that's been in the game for years, it's not anything new, if you were unaware of it, doesn't matter, same as if you were unaware of a law, doesn't matter. That argument is also entirely ignorant of the world of game developing as a whole, bugs aren't purposely put in, bugs can literally just happen when you have millions of code being moved around and changed. You cannot honestly argue that it wasn't obvious that it wasn't intended, no other flask or potion has ever stacked with itself, ever, all drinking 1 flask on top of another does is extend time, and the only way you could pull it off was splitting the stacks and drinking them a stack of one at a time, this interaction alone should tell any reasonable minded person that it was not intended. You guys can argue all you want about this but you aren't making an honest argument and you know full well how ridiculous your argument sounds.
I almost did this bug but sadly I was too late as I didn't pool enough resources to buy that many potions.I knew there was a risk of being banned but I assumed with the nature of the bug that a ban was unlikely I guess Blizzard were just making an example of people.Blizzard put on a sale recently for race changing and other related services after releasing their new allied races to encourage people to purchase them and while this is a separate thing you can see why Blizzard may have reacted so badly considering they were expecting sales to be made when releasing their new content. The problem is that Allied races should not cost anything more and before you say their purchase is optional you might consider people who have spent the entire expansion farming reputations doing the tiresome repetitive self maintaining world quest mechanic that has currently set in place for 'world content'.In short people want to play their main characters they have spent so much time on... and they want them to be the new allied races so purchasing the new races is optional but there is no alternative method.I understand why people exploited the bug and I understand why Blizzard banned them but I do not believe this is a black and white topic and I myself wish that my main character was a Zandalari Troll instead of having to level from scratch to make one and repeat the same tiresome 'world content'.
While these bans were definitely earned by the players who used the exploit I feel what is really needed is rollbacks.....across the board...for all banned players.
Interesting how there is no mention of the fact that half of Method was hit by this ban. Hmm... maybe there is a reason for that omission?
See there is the rub another person posted on the Mythic Dungeon International - Casters Announced, MDI West Time Trial Keys this -
WHO would have thought you can get banned for cheating, get a grip really :'D
LOL This is why I always read the comments on these articles. People arguing for days about it ... come on! Who would not know this is an exploit, and therefore a kind of cheat? too funny.
