Hahahahahahaaa, good, rest in pieces Mythic raiding.
The way I see it, bonuses were merely there as added motivation for people to keep farming an instance once it was cleared, and nothing more. Current raids have many more incentives - AP/Azerite, and TF/WF. You can always just add more pieces with different stat options to the loot table. And beyond that, there's Cosmetic items (always an option... though not very common so far), Pets, Toys, Mounts... and ton of gold off of people who buy carries with gold, because raids got too demanding for their skill level. As they are, set bonuses are a nuisance. In my gear set, the 4 tier pieces are by 15 or more levels behind everything else and you can't really make a decision without spreadsheet or simulcraft because the choice is- 4 much better itemized pieces with +15 levels more on eachvs- 4 crap pieces, laden with crap filler stats, but with a 'set bonus'and everything in-between.Don't even want to get to the can of worms that is still working tier sets from WoD and previous Legion tiers, that make 2+2+2 or 2+4 combinations technically possible. More 'work' for spreadsheet or simulcraft, I guess. Nope.jpgAlso, you may have missed the fact that Argus 910 vendor tokens CAN proc Nighthold Tier pieces, and those CAN WF/TF. My friend's class-spec combo requires 2+4 to be even viable, I will never forget hearing him freak out when he got a 940 titanforged Nighthold tier piece from those tokens. On the pure 'visual' side, it's completely possible to just put the right look on items throughout the game - though I find it retarded that some NH or ToS tiers include pieces only available in EN, or on Broken Shore island bosses. Class look for an instance can also be simply added in form of purely cosmetic item drops, to keep moggers happy.
This'll be good actually, with the way the RNG works it can be such a pain to even get 2 pieces let along the entire set. Given you only have 1 chance per week with, say 5 months between raids, that's only 20 tries before the next raid and thus trying to get the next tier set.
Why not just get rid of gear all together and just have everyone with the exact same stats? For that matter, merge all classes and races into 1, so everyone is identical all the time! No more balance complaints!Honestly, the easy solution is to have 2piece bonus be weak, and 4piece amazing. The Outlaw 4piece is the best, while the 2piece is worthless, so I will definitely be ditching as soon as I get my Antorus gear (too bad ALL the tier bonuses suck from that raid).
I think, we have no idea what is in store for us. A lot of us are assuming raiding is going to be exactly the same as it is now, minus teir sets. I agree that if they took out teir sets, right this very second in Antorus, that would be a disasterous move, however.... Given that we have no idea what benefits we'll have for raiding in the future... I'd wait and see what happens. I'm sure Blizzard will work some important reasons to raid from a progressive person's point of view, since apparently mounts, transmog, pets, and everything else is apparently not good enough to raid for..... <_<? I think we should all take deep breaths and see what the future brings.
More themed by the raids they drop from? Is my weird, vague dream of a pirate captain paladin armor set going to come true afterall?
I love all the comments how Mythic raiding will be broken by this. If that's the case then why is PvP still being played at all? They destroyed all our rewards, and you all agreed to it. How does it feel now. So I will say what the PvErs told us. If you don't enjoy raiding just for raiding, then don't do it, do something you do enjoy or find a different game.I actually made a post the other day, about this issue and others regarding WPvP, and this was on e of the factors, great to see this change being made. Ever since they nixed resilence, Raid gear gives a competitive edge in PvP, via their sets and Trinkets, ECT. This will help to remedy that. Few more changes for a great Expac, they are on there way though. Sorry raiders no more 1 shooting real PvPers in WPvP.
Instead of declaring this a good or bad change at the moment, I will simply comment that it is a risky change. It's clear Blizzard is tripling down on the Azerite system. Which means the expansion's success or failure, at least from a gameplay perspective, is going to hinge a lot on the Azerite system's success or failure.I do think one legitimate concern is that it devalues raiding below sources of equivalent, and potentially easier-to-obtain ilevel loot. That is an issue, but perhaps it's not an unsolvable one. Perhaps raid gear could have extra trait options (for example maybe in a given Azerite tier a WQ reward has 3 trait options, a dungeon drop has 4, and a raid item has 5). That would ensure that ilevel still matters in terms of raw power, but raid gear has the added benefit of being more versatile.Maybe that would work, maybe it wouldn't. Maybe Blizzard has other plans to address the issue, and maybe they will succeed or fail in doing so. Just too early to tell at the moment.
I'm torn on this. On one hand I really like that I won't be locked into using 4+2 set, 2 BIS leggos and maybe 1 or 2 BIS trinkets depending on class and then try to balance my stats around all of that. It feels bad when I get a good item with perfect stats but I'm unable to use it.But I think this really devaluates raids, especially Mythic where you have to put in so much more effort and time than Heroic/Normal. I'm raiding Mythic because I like the challenge, I like progressing with my guild but I also like getting gear upgrades. I currently can't expect gear upgrades out of Mythic anymore outside of tier because my gear mainly consists of titanforges out of M+ or Argus bosses. This just feels plain weird. I'm spending a majority of my Warcraft time in raids (supposedly the PvE endcontent) and not even a quarter of my gear is actually from raids. Of course, the main culprit in this is titanforging. Blizz seems to be intent on keeping titanforging a thing because they want people to feel like there is a chance to get upgrades even if they only run LFR the whole time and sure, it makes the content more replayable but for those people it also disencourages trying to get into Normal/Heroic if they get high titanforges. If they introduced a reasonable titanforging cap (I'm thinking +15 ilvl) you'll still feel lucky when you get one but it won't devaluate a whole higher level of raiding.I'd like to see more incentive to run higher raidcontent and Azorite gear could potentially bring some of it back since it can't titanforge. But we'll have to see what Ilvl of Azorite gear we're going to be looking at from Raids, M+ and whatever other sources there will be come BFA.
I better still have my Warrior set, if not I'm gonna be filled with rage, and not the good kind.
I approve of this change. I hate being stuck with tier pieces I don't like secondary stats of.
While I’m very sad that we’ll kill Queen Azshara in this expansion, I hope the gear we’ll get from her will be very Naga/aquatic/Highborne/high elven gear...... maybe something similar of what her Naga form wears with pearls and gold and that stuff
