I love this, no more items wasted (or less at least) and way more value to M+ items! GG Blizzard I was waiting for this since WotLK tbh
I can understand the reasoning behind this change. Between having to either disable or redo specific set effects and having way too big of a carrot when it comes to farming Titanforged T19/20 (plus a refusal to fix the fundamental issues with Titanforging itself), it's not a bad idea to try something else. I have to imagine set effects themselves will not be disappearing. Some of the power will probably be shifted to the Azerite system while the remainder is distributed among other systems and some special gear that happens to create smaller sets similar to what the dungeon drops this expansion have been like. Maybe WoW team has also spoken a little too soon about just dumping Legendaries into the trash, though I guess pseudo-legendary epics work just as well.
A very interesting idea.I could see the traditional tier bonuses being tied into that final trait of the Azerite armor instead, maybe even across the options for, let's say helmets, so that all helmets in Uldir might provide that same final bonus while the other traits may be different along with general stats.Begs the question whether we'll still have a specific set for all classes or if we'll have multiple sets for each armor type. Could be interesting to have multiple sets to choose from so you're not locked into your own set or a potential recolor of another class set.
Just make diablo-like set system. 3-4 gradable sets per expac, so people can play like they want.
Well, that's a first. We lost a raid tier before we even got into the expansion. :\
So many people seem to have missed that Azerite armor pieces are unique to each raid and will simply act as customizable tier bonuses that you still have to raid for. And if you want the best possible version of that piece you have to get it from mythic now.
giving the excuse that 4 or 6 item slot is blocked so set effect will be removed is completely lame . New tier set should be more powerful than previous one but blizzard has been nerfing previous tier set inorder to make new tier set powerful .Then why release new set effect ?When t20 set was released they nerfed t19 bonus effect , and similarly t20 set effect has already been nerfed before t21 was released. MM T21 is so weak in compare to T20 set effect(even after nerfing 2 piece set effect) , but to make T21 set effect more powerful they will further nerf T20 bonus effect. It would be better if they can come up with a system where a player will earn a set effect from a raid boss and then they can transfer it to other higher item level, somewhat like transmog , instead of look to item, a set effect can be transferred to other items. They may not have to release new set effect in every new raid. Main reason is not that set effect blocks 4 or 6 slot , they cannot come up with a better set effect for every next tier. Hence they may get ride of it.
Tier sets without tier bonus? The bonus was the only reason to collect tier sets, as stats usually was waaaaaay off for the spec in question..
I think just adding set bonusses to existing pieces like enchants would be the way to go. Which is kind of what they will do with the azerite system. You choose your bonusses.
Wow, M+ is so great, let's make players complete it 24/7!Raid gear was always the best in WoW. In Legion it was destroyed with random up, when you can just clear +10, what's quite easy, and get a equip with a better stats compare with mythic actual raid. Really? Tier system was good enough. If you're a casual player, you could get OK gear, but for the best you must try to remember all tactics, give good DPS/HPS, don't be lazy and stupid, coordinate your actions with other players... Tactics in dungeons is much more easy.We have set bonuses on equipment from mythic dungeons, so we needn't spend hours for a raid. Now we needn't raids at all? Damn you, Blizzard, it's extremely stupid! Raids always were the basic of high lvl PvE content, it was good working for about 14 years, but now you break good-working system? Really? Now I'm sure M+ are one of the worst ideas in Legion. Other are strict content division on classes, why mainers of 1 or 2 classes could think the game is boring — now it's for factions. Not very good tier designs (especially T20 with remakes of all T5, even lame like hunter or warrior set) — but we'll get it depending on the dungeon. If you want to attract casual players, attract. But don't forget about players who want some difficult aspects and don't make a game not harder than a child game.
Oh wow, terrible decision. But the more i learn about the hearth of azeroth the more i think it's going to be nearly useless. (remember that this azerith pieces won't be able to titanforge and that they will probably have bad stats just to force the player to get more gear and make "poorly designed choices" )also i think that instead of 12 apparence we are going to have 4 like for hall of valor making them even more lazy.I can understand that tier set are hard to balance, but throwing them all together isn't the good solution. They could have gone for flat stats and / or trinket like abilities and put all raiding gear to be "tier like" (but keep only one or two bonus) and make that you can only have one bonus for a level active and here you have a better solution to their problems, easy to balance and where you can't have "too many bonus".
It's probably just as much of a headache for them as it is for us, so I'm not surprised they're going away, just surprised how long it took. Legion had quite a few examples of certain specs being forced to play a certain way/choose certain talents based on the set bonus. There are a decent number of ways to play some specs now, and set bonuses forcing one of those ways to be competitive feels hella bad.
I dont mind tier sets going, never really liked them. But i still want a Set transmog each tier that looks stunning.
I am sorry but this is the worst decision ever. If the issue is stats then stop putting f***ing versatility on every piece of gear and actually put good stats for the spec. How is having 6 tier slots and 4 set bonuses "locking" us ? This is removing all of the flavor of raid gearing.Half the fun of the raid is the tier bonuses and trinkets, and subtly changing the way you have to play your class for a raid tier because of them. Do they really want us to press the same buttons with the same stat priority forever ? Do they just want people to spam Mythic + ? If your issue is just that you are running out of ideas at least be honest, just say so. Do not hide behind silly reasons.I love this company, but boy do they always find the most complicated way to solve non existent problems...
I will avoid Tier 21 like the plague since the Set bonus is a downgrade from Tier 20. (Ret Paladin)
This just devalues raiding even more.
That sounds nice. I really hate when you have to use lower ilvl things just because your new piece would break your set bonus.
Tier Sets currently are a pain due to the 5 set pieces and legendaries, so u are very limited in what u can wear. However without Legendarys which wont move forward in BoA and a go back to 4set tiers it is a no issue imo.It still has some advantages i do like:M+ only groups and Alt chars can have the same power level if they dont do Raids. The BIG issue however for me is:Gear and Character Progression is a HUGE part of WoW. And if u take the ONE big gear advantage out of raids, whats left to go there except for Progression? Why would u farm Raids once cleared? Its already so hard to recruit for Raids. This change will make raids even less attractive.
So when they changed the whole talent tree to a 3 talent per tier system it didn't feel like we were limited in our choice or at least nobody cared? But now they think Tier Set Pieces limit our choices? WTF? I like the change a 2 / 4 tier bonus often brings to the playstyle of a class every new raid tier. Dont take away this variety and dont take away the one left gear advantage, that raids bring us. Otherwise we might as well all stop raiding and just farm M+, cause it does seem waaay more attractive. Faster than a raid, easier to handle organisationwise and more loot per person I guess. long story short: Please dont take away tier bonusses!
