I always liked the close combat so I played different mele classes usually tank, casters never attracted me.. I prefer to have a shield and 1 hand weapon.
I usually prefer to be a dual-wielding melee dps, but if the game has pvp in it then I almost always make a ranged alt to pvp with.
I'm usually torn on which way to go depending on the game. See, thematically I personally prefer physical classes like a warrior type if done well. But I've found that I enjoy more mentally stimulating fighting styles in games, strategic types, rather than ones that are mostly brute force or simply reaction time. Sadly in most games the warriors type combat is fairly button mashy, and the casters are the ones with more complex combos and rewards creative thinking. So if the "warrior type" is done well, like in Vindictus, I like the physical class. If it's not, like in Dragon Age, I prefer the magic wielder. One of the main reasons I'm looking forward to Reckoning is that from the demo, it seems like one of the few games that has a strategic element to the physical combat. Can't wait to see if it holds true throughout it.
I tend to play a spell-sword. Focusing on mostly spells but weaving into melee combat when it suits me.
Usually a fighter-type. I love being a meat shield and I love crazy combat strategies that involve getting down and dirty with the baddies. I like to be looking my dragons in the eye when I slay them.
I like playing rogues and mages, but the most fun i have had is playing an Arch-Mage Archer
Melee tank
I almost always play a class that can heal it's self and deal decent damage. ((Paladin)) Failing that then a rogue. ((and steal anything that isn't nailed down)) :)
A creature of neither light nor darkness; something twisted and warped, trapped within the grey shadows of the world. This is my favorite type of class to play, which more often than not ends up being a hybrid or a caster. To me, the characters that I play are almost people in their own rights and, when I play them, I cannot help but imagine what their pasts have been like and create backstories for them. It's much more enjoyable for me to play characters that are flawed at their core and express that through their in-game capabilities. In WoW, for example, I play a shadow priest; something once pure but now tainted. If whichever game I play lacks a class of that particular sort, I usually default to one that has a mind control ability. I can't help smiling crookedly when I deny other players the ability to play their character or get past obstacles in a game in a way the developers may not have originally foreseen. Who knows? Maybe I'm a little twisted myself. =P
Vonriel here. I've always been a paladin fan, ever since I set foot into Diablo 2. I've tried rangers, mages, warriors, assassins, you name a class archetype and I've played it. From pen and paper, to single-player rpgs, to mmos, and even on text-based MUDs, I've constantly come back to the paladin class time and again. Even when the class was considered weak, I still played it. Even if the class didn't exist, I'd play the closest thing to one I could: A holy warrior who can heal and whip large amounts of posterior. No prevarication.
Warrior. Just doing damage with a huge weapon in my hand is fun :)
I tend to play a lot of ranger types. Hunters or rangers or bowmen, you name it. I also like to play the evil ranged mages archetype like warlocks or necromancers.
Melee. Why? I dunno really... i've always had a bias over range (heals and dps) until i played wow. But i still enjoy melee!
I've been playing titan quest lately and I'm in love with playing a mixed melee caster style. Usually I play necromancy when its an option, i don't care for it in titan quest however.
