Worst by far is the copy and paste box, especially as I copy it and then click off, and every single time I hit that box.Would it be possible for that box to just be removed? Otherwise I am not having a problem with it
I like the fact that you guys try to improve Wowhead with new additions, but this one is for me a no-go. Sorry.
No thank you. I understand that you guys are looking for another ways to get a little extra money flowing, but the whole bar adds nothing extra except an advertisement extra. * If I want any of the utilities that are now on the bar, I'll can just as easy go there via the links at the top of the site. * I agree with the previous posters that the extra utility of *USE USE USE* social media is getting tiring. (I don't understand that with every time I turn around another site/program/utility I use happily tells me I can now SHARE with my friends. I'm sure my friends like me. But they are not interested in every blurb that I read and find amusing. That as totally not interesting side thought.)* It cheapens the look and feel of the site. If you guys are going to hang on to it, at least make it fit in, by using the same colors, lay-out and typography.
Blizzard trusts Wowhead enough to put direct links to the site on their new eu.battle.net site. Surely you could live up to the idea that you're a trusted resource by not having intrusive third-party addons splashed all over your site. I'd rather not have my browser sending requests to this "meebo" at all.Of course I don't pay for premium, so I feel cheap for saying what basically boils down to "how dare you try to make money".
"This non-intrusive and fast-loading toolbar" "take advantage of the awesome features it provides"... are you seeing the same bar we are seeing?Even with a relatively fast connection, the bar slows down Wowhead's loading considerably, not to mention that the "awesome" features it provides are far too redundant. The copy-paste text being the most annoying of all.
As some of the other have mentioned... "Achievements and now this? You guys are on a downward slope..."I tend to agree with them, and let me explain why...The achievements, while gimicky... CAN add something to the site. Since a person's achievements are listed next to their name in comments... I can quickly see when reading a comment if this person helps out a lot on the site or is known to have fairly helpful information. In the long run though, I don't come to wowhead to compete with others to get the most points for my comments. It's a database site, tools resource, and overall wow news site. If I wanted to compete with others for points, I'll do it IN WoW, or I'll go play some stupid web based games like the ones offered on social networking sites (you'll never find me playing those).However... if there's one thing on websites that I hate the most... it's all the buttons at the bottom of every forum post or blog post or page that had 10 different links to "tweet this" or "like this" or "digg it" and on, and on, and on...These add nothing to my experience on the site, they add no value to 90% of users, and the small 10% that ARE likely to tweet or whatever about it... will do it without the use of the stupid button. To the others that will never use them, it's basically an ad, or clutter to the page. There's already a lot of information on this site, and many different ways to cross reference things and link to items etc... we don't need to add clutter to the pages for no real addition. If a person uses Meebo, they have it open in another tab... they don't need to use it THROUGH this site. One main reason I love this site is how similar to google it is in many ways, simple, elegant, lots of information at your fingertips without a bunch of junk in the way. If things continue to go this way, then I agree with some of the other posters... I'll just turn on my adblocker then to block all this junk. For those of you who use Google Chrome and are interested in removing all the facebook spam or crap links to aggregate pages... there are 2 very helpful extentions to look for:"FacebookBlocker" (Block Facebook content from appearing on other websites.) and"Shellfish" (Tired of all those pesky "share this article" buttons all over your Internet? Hide them with Shellfish!)I won't link to them in case you guys don't want links to stuff that may block your content (note, these addons do not block ads.. just facebook and "share" links).
How to block this featue:Got to this folder:C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc (or system64)Open this file with notepad:hostsAdd this line:127.0.0.1 cim.meebo.comAnd it is gone..........
What meebo bar? Adblock Plus FTW.
Personally hate it as well. I block it on any site that has it that I frequent. I come here for info, not to social network. I see no real point in having it on here, why would someone come here to log into AIM/MSN/Facebook/etc.? It servers no purpose to be honest.I'm not against new features on the site and all, but things that have no real purpose at all like this are unneeded in my opinion. I'll be keeping it ad-blocked.
I can't stand websites that cram in all these plug-ins and intrusive social media linking. I would really hate to see Wowhead go this way. There's a little toolbar for everything now; Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Myspace, Weatherbug, Bing, and now Meebo.Annoying.Unless this is really bringing in some serious dough for you guys, I say can it. It's akin to the crappy bloatware they stuff new computers with from HP and Dell. It just annoys you, and takes up space and resources.Besides the piles of great content this site provides, I love it that it's simple, and to the point. This is kinda pushing it the other way.TL;DR - IMO, this cheapens the site.

Oh that wasn't malicious? Well, good to know.As I am capable of not examining each square centimeter of computer screen that enters my field of vision, I find this unobtrusive, Wowhead team! Please continue to have funding so your site can continue to exist.
I know it is disabled at the moment, but here's my opinion:I have been a member of the wowhead community since 2007. I'm not a very active member but I do use the site a lot. Oftentimes I also click on ads to support wowhead. The thing that I have loved the most about wowhead is it's minimalistic design. However, I think that this meebo bar completely butchers the design. It is like a huge scar on a beautiful woman's face. I trust that wowhead designers can find a classier way of incorporating social networking sites (which are not needed) into wowhead. If this meebo bar is not optional. I will resort to use Adblock+ on wowhead. (Which by the way can also block the image behind the banners that say "wowhead is supported by ads please whitelist us")
In terms of usability, I'm not against it. Does it change up the interface? Yeah, so that obviously is bothersome to persons who frequent the site a lot (most of the people who are active enough to comment!).I would suggest exploring variable use throughout the site. I personally think the social media share functions are interesting. What about only having the bar enabled on certain sections of the site? Say, Meebo all database item pages, but have it disabled on the news/blog sections? That way the Share highlighting doesn't become ridiculous when reading a blog article, but it does let you serve ads to (I would imagine), the greatest population ... those that are looking up items.Do what you need to, we'll always love us some WoWHead.
I didn't like it, i'm glad it's gone, text highlighting issue would have been a dealbreaker for me.
