I've never been addicted to WoW per se, I just stop playing when I'm bored with the game and start playing when friends renew their subscriptions, etc.. I've been playing for 2-3 months with some friends now, but starting to get bored again... Since I'm not really into raiding for leet gear, rather for the challenge, content gets boring really fast, after doing it a couple times, so... I'll probably stop playing soon until Cataclysm releases.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
My account time ran out recently, and I havn't started it back up yet, even though I have a pre-paid 60 day free-trial.I think I'm losing my mind...
I was really determined to quit. So in addition to the usual I also edited my HOSTS file to include all the WoW-related sites I would possibly think to visit.Of course, anyone who would think to do that would also think to revert the HOSTS file back to its original form if they REALLY wanted to go back, but being unable to glimpse even a shred of WoW news/info due to a "server can't be reached" message (or some variant thereof) was enough to quell my moments of weakness.Came back for WotLK to see the new stuff.. it'll be easier to quit this time around, what with the lack of sufficiently-challenging content to keep me hooked.
I froze my account so I could focus more on my study for university entrance tests. It was working well, except that Wotlk released. I tried to not play it for one week, but I gave up after one day. At least I can spend days without playing wow.
I took a few breaks before. In my senior year of high school, when I started playing I used parental controls on myself. xD. I got really addicted, but I still ran out with friends, etc. And I was going to college. Balancing all pretty well. I started sleeping for twenty hours a day, and my doctors realized my heart was failing. I had open heart surgery at the age of nineteen years old, and got my aortic valve replaced. Lots of complications, and a month with no WoW in the hospital. (I could get on via laptop, but the lag was horrible). And my mom wanted me to come stay with her instead of going back to my apartment, and my mom + internet = don't mix. So another two months without WoW.I came back on. Found out I was gkicked from my guild, and talked to some of the officers explaining what had happened, and they called me straight out flat liar. I got hella mad. Rerolled on a new realm. Now I have some amazing characters, and am loving the game and having fun. I play for fun, and I am balancing it pretty well. I cannot go back to school yet, doctors orders. But! My doctors did say WoW is a good thing. =D. Top world cardiologists and surgeons worked on my case ever since I was born, they brought in dozens of doctors across my lifetime to consult on my heart condition. I am proudly the only survivor who has made it this long, and past a rare kawasaki relapse (I am caucasian so it is even rarer). Photo proof: http://rawr.mp/albums/4827Well. Not exactly the same, MasterofDisguise, but similar. :].
I just took a 6 month break about 2 months ago. I didn't stop checking for updates on MMO-Champion or Wowhead, 'cause, ya know, I intended to come back one day, but I didn't have crazy problems, (If you don't count the sudden urge to Hearthstone home 'cause I didn't wanna walk, or the idea when I woke up to roll my Rogue to school instead of my Paladin, then remember this is real life.) so I'm not in an immense problem here.
I played from a month from release till about two months before BC, I then quit for a while do to real life problems (I didn't have a job so scratching up cash for the monthly fee was getting tough). I rejoined about 3 months ago and enjoy playing so unless something comes up I'll stick to my 2 hours a day I can muster between sports and school.
At the beginning of the school year i decided to give up WoW for a while. It's been a month since I last signed on to my account and quested with my paladin. My school/social life have been going fine considering WoW hardly interferred with my life anyway, perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that i was never in a regular raiding guild. Well a friend at school asked me why i haven't been playing recently, I told him i was trying to get some better grades instead of passing with a C/C- average. He told me that if his guild needed another healer for their 25 man raids. Thanks to him (and im not complaining... yet) I purchased a WoW time card this morning...
Quit the game once I realized all I wanna do is play a Dwarf Shaman.Got all his heirloom gear. Gonna wait till expansion before coming back. :-P
