warrior alt is lvl 75, almost 76....gonna grab a mage after that. havent touched my rogue (in sig below) in weeks. no point to it.
IMO, LK only had three real raids - Naxx, Ulduar, and ICC. TBC had six (seven if you include ZA). You can say "well, yeah, but LK had teh hard modes!" Yes, LK did have hard modes and TBC did not. However, hard modes are the same content and bosses as the normal modes. Yes, hard modes are harder, but you're still looking at the same stuff. LK did not offer the content variety of TBC and Vanilla. I think Blizzard tried to counter this by adding achievements and hard modes, but all they did was add things that you could do with the existing content rather than adding new content. I got bored of LK after Naxx. TBC, on the other hand, kept my attention the entire time.To say that there are infinite things to do in LK is a bit of an over statement. Argent linked "Mountain o' Mounts" as an example. So if there wasn't an achievement for collecting mounts people couldn't collect them? Same goes for pets and achievements that award raid groups that don't stand in fire. There very well could have been an "achievement" for no one in the raid group dying to KJ's "OBLIVION LOLS!" in Sunwell.
I honestly could not agree more with you. WoW has lost that loving feelin'.Alts? Done. Sadly, between 2 servers I've leveled every class to 80 which meant that I embarrassingly spent too much time playing WoW. Similarly to many other players, I have quit on countless occasions. I dedicated one character to hunt for achievements and increase my epeen but even that...got old.Dungeon/raiding/badge grinding while helping/teaching others how to play was great...until it got old. Gold gave you a necessity to stockpile as it funded everything you could want...but that got old. (a pattern is emerging...but even this is now old)PVP? Done.I dedicated my priest to the OP 2v2 combo of mut/disc and played for many weeks until that too....got old. Sick of the priest? Went to my pew pew hunter, then the boomkin/resto, then the shammy, then...pvp got old.New content is...somehow already old. Could I have finally nixed the WoW habit? Probably not as I'm still posting on wowhead...but maybe even this will get old.Regardless, I'm tempted to come back for cata even though my better judgment is saying no.
Timely article ArgentSun. I left WoW for a few months because I'd become a bit "exhausted" with Wrath. I've recently returned to WoW, and gone back to basics. I'm levelling alts, but with no real determination to hit 80. I'm just enjoying the levelling experience. I expect with Cata, this will get even better.
Yes I am a little board, but I started a complety different type of alt, been a Pallie sench I started, now im leveling an Warlock and having fun, she started out Horde then went Aliance and am really looing forward to Cat comming out
I made an EU account and leveling up a hunter to play in Inglorious Ganker guild.
Been playing WoW for 3 years now as well. I've had my time spent on both ends of the spectrum (hardcore and casual). With my own life progressing, WoW has had to take a back seat more and more. The lack of content of WoW may not offer much for those who play way more than casually, all the way up to the hardcore raiding end of the spectrum, and I can sympathize with that. But looking on the opposite end, there is still a lot left to do for those casuals, who have not been pursuing to-do lists quite as aggressively as hardcore players. At the same time its comforting to know one could "easily" catch up with the more regular veterans of WoW moreso than ever before, should one choose to dedicate more time or not.In summary, I guess I'm trying to say that for people like the original thread starter, I can see and quite agree that there WoW has been thoroughly exhausted as far as his interests go. But I have to differ when coming from the viewpoint of casual players who have yet to exhaust many aspects of WOTLK and still have time to do so before the arrival of Cataclysm.Personally I want to add that I'm probably at an age where I should quit WoW, simply because there isn't enough hours in the day between all that I have to do. Amidst all the QQ-ing of how WoW has been made easy enough that content could be devoured and blasted through in a few months without patch releases every now and then, I can't say I do not appreciate the trend. Gone are the days for me where I have to dedicate 2 nights or more for raiding, but with the appearance of raids such as VOA, the weekly's, the Sartharion-Malygos style raids, I find that I can still have time (dedcate one night a week for raids) to remain viably competitive should my schedule free me up once more and I can dedicate more to raids
The Gutbuster is for heroics only, I use Troggbane or Last Word, both of which are enchanted :)
At times I won't play for a couple of days or up to a week and get into a new game that comes out or into a game that I haven't played in awhile. After that week I will be wanting to play WoW again.
Joined WoW pretty late into the game compared to most others, but WotLK has lost it's shine to me too.I've got 5 chars on lvl 80 and I'm busy "trying" to gear them. So as I'm "new" to lvl 80 I can't even get into a TotC or anything even though I know the tacts. Since WotLK brought on this incessant need for players to first have the achievement and GS (which increase's just as I reach the min requirement. GS requirement for ICC has gone from 5000 to 6100 in just 1 week) I've never been able to go further with one char so all that was left was to level alt's.So seeing as there are no parties that will invite people without the achievement I've resigned myself to the odd ICC rep farming and gathering things I think will no longer be available in Cata, like Dungeon Set 1 or 2 armor as an example.Level 70 alt guilds seem to be very popular... probably because TBC dungeons/RAID's require more then "Enter - Skip - Skip - Moan - Last Boss - Quit"From a noob's perspective.
My advice: Go play Runescape. See how long you last. You'll be thinking WoW is a godsend very quick.
