if you like masterloot it is because you have benefited from it. that simple. master loot sucks. it was the worst thing about vanilla. I hope it will NEVER return to the game. masterloot is a cancer.
I'm glad master looter is gone. I like your solution, but think one change would make it better. I believe that guilds should be given the option to "allow all loot trading." This solution will still solve the issue for guilds that want loot trading, while retaining the loot protections many individuals want when joining guilds. The ability to establish preferred loot settings would set the tone for loot trading within the guild.

I don't really care about Master Looter being gone for raiding/mythics and such, but I absolutely HATE losing group/master loot for transmog runs. I run a lot of old raids with my wife and friends and having to juggle loot between all of us is frankly obnoxious. "Do you need x? I don't need x. Can I have y though? Does anyone need z? It's cloth, and I'm plate." On top of this there's random items that are BoP still, so we've run into instances where someone gets and item they don't want, but can't trade it to someone else who does because of Blizzard's arbitrary rules. Having to stop and trade stuff between each other rather than just being able to roll need while carrying on is obnoxious. It's a small annoyance, but having the same small annoyance every week, almost every boss, is incredibly tiresome. It would be nice is they gave back loot rules for legacy loot, but considering how awfully they've ruined the collecting experience from old raids (Making armor tokens a random drop, meaning you can go weeks without seeing a single one, dumping all of Ulduar's loot from 10 and 25 man loot into a single table, ect) I doubt they'll bother.
Masterloot should be a choice only if x amount of people are form the guild. bring back Group loot for premades. personal should be for pugs only
Still a dreadful system. If Blizzard need to protect the casual playerbase from the tyranny of master looter, they already had before it was removed - make it only available on Mythic difficulty and require a guild group, which the system already tracks. There's zero reason to restrict players ability to handle their loot how they want to in a guild group of the hardest conten.
I made a long comment but I didn't see it post. I'm not writing it all down again, so I'll tl;dr here. If your raid group is 60% druids and you're the only person wearing plate, it certainly feels f***ing bad when Personal Loot never gives you anything and everyone else is trading stuff back and forth all day. Personal Loot is horrible and I hate it. At least with ML I had a chance of getting things. It also feels bad when over 30 chances of getting loot from N'zoth, I only got pets and a ring. The only reason I ever got the sword was because a paladin pity-traded it to me. I got Azerite Power on all but 1 of my bonus rolls.Remember, if your guild group has a terrible distribution of armour types (60%+ leather, 1-2 plate wearers, and 1-2 clothies) then Personal Loot can and will take you on a terrible buffet dinner date, make you go dutch, and then ditch you at the entrance after driving you there so you have to call an Uber home.
People claiming ML was only problematic on pugs shows they have no idea what they're talking about. Pugs had literally NO ML ever since Cata. I've gone through a lot of experience in guilds in which officials have favouristism on some people over some others, even though "some people" meet certain scenarios others didn't, especially when PL was a thing and you couldn't even see yours since it was only for officials to see. It's been gone for two years now, it's time to move on.The frustation I had during that period of time was much worse than the one I've had with personal loot in BfA. The system we have is much healthier, it just needs some tweaks. I don't think the ilvl bypassing in order to be able to give the item should go, otherwise we'd find ourselves in a situation where RL would ALWAYS demand us to give all the drops to them, even though it's an enhancement to your equipment. And then just randomly give the item to a specific player based on PL or favouritism again, basically pre-personal loot times. What would be the point of personal loot be then?
I enjoy trying for 4 straight months to get unguent carress to drop so I can push M+ with the baseline required item with my Demon Hunter. Making items a 1% drop chance to account for guilds that funnel items with ~13 other DPS because of personal loot is DEFINITELY healthy game design. Guess I should just get good and buy a mythic ra-den funnel for like 1.2 million gold (200 dollars in WoW tokens currently) if I want to play the game in any competitive manner.
We had an almost perfect system in ML with DKP. Transparent, fair, easy to track your progress, spreads loot between all players, choice in what items you want to go for, and rewards loyalty and dedication to the guild.PL has a lot of issues. No progress and often not even the sight of loot (DKP you at least climb in front if you're outbidded). When you get something there is a decent chance it's not useful (DKP you just save the points if you don't want an item). Twice as bad if you can't trade to someone who needs it (ML solves this). Also PL furthers the single player mindset (No interacting on loot, mine instead of the guild's drop). The only upside of PL is that it can't be abused by the master looter but if a guild is like that then it has problems that would make a PL guild suck too.
I think personal loot is fine, the real issue is reroll tokens. Valor Points worked much better, and were a guaranteed means of acquiring raid-level loot by doing raids, even if nothing dropped for you that week.
I think they should bring back ML really, PL takes way too long to even acquire a piece of gear that is BiS for you, with how fast the content is coming out, basically almost every 3-4 months, it can help people have full gear by the time the new raid comes out, most raiders are already playing the RNG dice roll when trying to get a piece of gear, but at least they are rolling for their BiS OR a piece of gear that helps their stats rather than having to roll for your BiS AND the piece of gear that can help improve your stats AND a same piece of gear you already have AND one you dont even need.
Yes.
Guild = Team. If you don't care about your team then you don't deserves to be a part of it. Back in the days, i used to pass my loots to another hunter because he was better. Even though I won the roll. ML should be implemented for guilds at least. We used to gear up our tanks first, then top dps. And nope, we never had any toxicity with it. Currently i am a filthy casual and i am fine with PL, but for serious raiding ML is the only option. Not having ML costed millions of golds for top guilds in BFA. I don't want tradable PL, just bring back ML for guild runs. If you have ninja looting problem then don't join the guild. But if someone performs better than you and guild wants to gear them first them don't be the toxic slime and let your team grow.
