I'm just tired of Sylvanas. I used to love her as a character, an interesting backstory and the constant wrestling in dealing with her fate. Then they go 'Naw, that's not interesting' and drug her story through the mud, tossing out her character for one seemingly written by a 14 year old who wants in her pants. (One of the writers surrounding her character actually wanting in her pants probably dictating this). I'm just tired of ret-conning interesting moments to make them fit a narrative, because when they do it's never smooth. I liked Jaina's story, and I HATED her so very much. Do I forgive her? Nope... she still has to atone for Dalaran but I'm far more accepting of her doing so because her journey made some sense. Sylvanas having a redemption suddenly betrays her journey. She has lost/gaveup nearly all her humanity and has no desire to have it back. When you put genocide/mass murder as a 'means to an invisible end' then you have no values outside of your own selfishness. She is evil. That's okay but they keep playing her off as 'morally grey' when I'm sorry, but it's not. "Whoops I burned down all those orphanages but isn't it better then growing up without parents?" "No... no it is not." Sorry Sylvanas, you can't keep murdering everyone left and right because you think YOU have all the answers. It just makes you Sargaras. I haven't been enjoying the lore and story of Shadowlands because it's so.... nonsense in the big picture. And it's unsatisfying. (Maybe that's why Baine just rocks back and forth in his corner). Your eternal rest is just... more work or torture or endless torture. And all of it relies on the great overseerers' ineffable plan (sorry, THE PURPOSE) which is full of plot holes and inconsistencies. Blizzard consistently misses a lot of plot points and better narratives and build up to things they end up scrapping so much it's almost expected. (Poor Neptulon at least you got magically saved later). I wish they'd hash out their stories better and with more thought and input then the seemingly haphazard slapping together they do have. BFA certainly felt like departments weren't working together to make the story happen cohesively and Shadowlands almost has that same feel. They also have a bad habit of picking and rehashing the same clichés on repeat. All of the above, it's an opinion, please don't feel attacked by it. I hope you all have a good day!
Sorry , you cannot redeem Herr Windrunner, she needs to pay for her crimes and genocides.
The problem with redemption, is the character needs to genuinely change- not your perspective of the character. She won’t change, because she is adamant her way is correct (as is any zealot). Take the light- no matter what the light does, a devout follower will not be swayed. If turalyan saw the damage the light did in the AU magthar orc scenario, I don’t think his opinions would change- he is devout in the following. Sylv is exactly the same with her plans with the jailer. The missing piece for us as the player is what that plan actually is. It’s very possible that her plan justifies the means to which she took getting here (what if, say for example, every person she killed could come back to life- would her plan be justified?) We lack the narrative to make a fair assumption of the character right now. People will make assumptions and that’s fine, but there’s nothing wrong with holding off until we know the whole plan.
Don't care about this story at all. I just want our banshee queen back leading the forsaken. I don't care if it happens via third faction or retcon, but they must be aware anyone they try to put at the forsaken helm who isn't Sylvanas will be as rejected as Calia was/is.
"Sylvanas can probably never justify what she's done, but she can come to realize that she was manipulated and mislead, and regret her actions. "Too easy.No.This "Queen" is a disgrace.

This article uses the word "mortality" but perhaps what you mean is "morality"?
Loving Sylvanas' new model, very hot ;)
My money's on her being put on a bus by becoming the Jailer's replacement.
She is bringing alot of money so they will write her in any story. Dont take it serious its the only option. You wont change their mind. You are raging at someone that thinks there is something more to a murderer. The issue is simple they either treat her like they did Illidan or they treat her like they did Arthas. The issue is simple. Illidan did worse things than Sylvanas but since the ones Illidan murdered and harvested their soul were not directly affecting the players he gets a pass. Every excuse you think Illidan has for what he did they will give it to Sylvanas. If they choose to treat Sylvanas like Arthas then expect at some point that she will do something against her interests. Arthas treatment doesnt fit anything she did her entire existance so that leaves the Illidan treatment.I dont like what Illidan did. I dont like what Sylvanas did. I understand the point of view of Arthas and Illidan but Sylvanas is just straightout villain. There is nothing redeemable about her. They should've let her die at the end of the WoTLK expansion. Instead they gave her a different purpose in Cataclysm that she has not fullfilled and in Legion gave her another purpose that she has yet to fullfill. Look at the bright side , guys. After this expansion there is a high chance we will leave her behind.
Light save Sylv and it might be an even thing for turned her villainSince they twisted her so much... let them (try) to switch her again
I hope they redeem her, perhaps not fully but in some way. Split the community, some people will hate her forever while others will understand her actions. I always liked villains who to some looks like monsters while to others look like heroes/gods/saviors the best.
sylvanus's story has A LOT of problems, but a large part of the issues come from the constant retcons/changes of her story. Even as recently as BFA, there are arguments to be made that even blizzard were not sure on her story such as her literally thinking to herself that she didn't want to be warchief to her clear reasoning to burn teldrassil (which was clearly changed later to fit Jailer stuff)and danuser actually saying: "Some people won't, because they've already decided what they think, or what they want to be true, but our job as storytellers is to continue to evolve these characters and show new sides of them" shows how much a joke the current writing team is... like wat? how else are people supposed to think about a character that commits attrocities like killing her own people/troops, blighting her own army, GENOCIDE, betrayal, not caring about dying planet and so much more what the hell "new side" does danuser think to bring to a character that commits a genocide and has not even once shown any sort of remorse or anything on her actions? -_- that alone leaves her as someone many people hate and just want to be done with, there is no redemption at all for her, you don't redeem a genocide... "fateful encounter" more like dragged on encounter where sylvanus keeps suddenly getting power ups and running away.
