I think the next expansion will be about the Old Gods and Kul'tiras.
I haven't read any of the PTR spoilers. So purely on speculation I will assume we are going to get a new raid before the next expansion. It will be a fun, light-hearted raid but with some major plot development building up to the next expansion. There story is that after our big battle with the legion, something void related happen to azeroth. Maybe we return and find out that Azeroth is hurting. This is when the hologram of Mimiron appears and tell us we need a certain thing to help azeroth. The problem is that the thing we need is in a safe. The location of this safe is in the now FINALLY FINISHED Gallywix Pleasure Palace! Here we must defeat the goblin guard boss standing outside, then enter a room covered in gold coins and party lights... There we fight the oversized Blingtron 1! The first ever blingtron built that the creator scrapped for being crazy! And then, in the final room we try to open the safe, and the entire boss battle is based on trying not to be seen by Gallywix! We don't want to start a war incident after all!Be prepared! Experience the joy of Gallywix Pleasure Palace!
I'm thinking the void. We're already seeing it start to seep in and the whole reason the legion was created was to fight the void with them defeated as far as the void is concerned nothing will stand in there way.
I think that the end of the Burning Crusade is a big deal. I mean, it is the major event that made Azeroth as we know it.I'd love to see a come back to the old zones, like some of the content we're playing now. I haven't been in Outlands for years, just have my mage parked outside The Eye hunting that elusive Ashes of Al'arI really enjoyed the Lucid Nightmare hunt, and that final trip to the Forgotten Crypt, priceless! Also, i've been waiting to see Sylvanas to kick some ass since WoTLK!For the Banshee Queen!
Probably we'll be dealing with the Void stuff next expac (the wound in Silithus may have awaken a certain Old God that is buried near there). Kul'tiras is somewhat confirmed by the dataminig, maybe we'll get it as the South Seas expac (from the 2 main theories that we have this is the one i'm looking foward to), or maybe we'll get it in the form of a Patch (like 5.1 in MoP and 7.3 in Legion). As of the new races, i think they will introduce the Nightborne as a Horde race (because of the dialogue between Silgryn and Liadrin at the Vindicaar (and the High Elves as their Alliance counterpart?)) or as a Neutral faction, with Silgryn siding with the Horde and Thalyssra siding with the Alliance.
I have a feeling N'Zoth is already free and making his move. We'll most likely see parts of Azeroth under his influence as soon as we return from Argus.
Thanks for your comments and speculations. Now we have much more to think about everything that is happening and the future of WoW. The guild staff was commenting today that they were worried the next expansion would be the last. I believe now that we will have much content to come, many events can still unfold. But in any case I do not believe that one day the horde and alliance will be true allies without any resentment for the past, the betrayals and the deaths that have occurred on both sides. But only the future can tell us. Until then, we'll meet in Azeroth!
I have a feeling it will be another Cataclysm style expansion where there are a couple new zones but mostly just a refresh of Azeroth. We will be fighting the old gods as they try to take over the world. As for new races, I'm guessing we will see a couple that we have fought in the past but are now threatened by the old gods. Maybe one of the tribes of the Tol'vir threatened by C'thun or the Kvaldir by N'zoth.
Know what would be awesome? A expansion with no fancy story, no complicated enemy, just all-out war between Alliance and Horde! Please, Blizz!
I guess it'll either be fighting Azshara and N'zoth, or maybe void nasties and the Ethereal homeworld, or an intermission expansion where we aren't focusing on saving the world (and the universe). But out of all the expansions we had so far the only one that wasn't exclusively focusing on defeating the one big bad was MoP, so maybe not the latter.
With Blizzard's level scaling and phasing technology, I'd like us to start fighting void corruption all over Azeroth. It would be really cool to see actual tangible progress and healing on the world. We were tasked with literally defending the last Titan—so I can see the next expansion not dealing with one ultimate big bads, but dealing with large-scale assaults on the planet. With Legion, the devs told us we'd really feel the Legion's invasion of Azeroth, but that was really only ever felt on the Broken Shore and with the pre-patch invasions. I'd like us to go back and fight on a local level all our revamped stomping grounds as the void takes over. Not only that, I'd love to see the progress—we defeated Xavius a year ago and Val'Sharah looks just as corrupted as when we started the expansion. Blizzard could use the phasing techology that they used wile questing in Mt. Hyjal to show Azeroth healing.
I think the next expansion will be focused on the Old Gods and the void. Alleria and Jaina will be the focus of the expansion with Kul Tiras and the naga playing a major role in the story.
After Antorus, We will probably have some old gods uprsing. All of them appearing at the same time, making Chaos into Azeroth. We should have a battle between Silvanas and Jaina.Probably Wrathion showing his older face.
I say we permanently move to a new continent or world and just blow up azeroth.
I think new xpac will be focused on Azeroth , its healing and repercuusion that will happen after that. Some of them will involve Kul'Tiras and old Gods. But mostly I think it will be Azshara xpac.
Here, I read the most interesting comment section on Wowhead since months.STORY: Many clever ideas shared here, though 90% are the same topic (Old gods & void). My favorite is PopCulturePooka's concept about a post-apocalyptic world on page #2. In this theory – taken that time flies a lot faster on Argus than on Azeroth –, while we're campaigning on Argus and Antorus, some foe shatters Azeroth's surface and obliterate most faction cities and then refugees of Azeroth build new but less secure temporary havens. After finishing the job on Argus we, players, return to this destroyed world and it's time to rebuild the world. The only downside of this idea is getting a new Cataclysm which should be highly avoided. That xpac had no roots at all. No central hub, distant zone revamps, lack of wholeness. Storywise I think the faction war between the Horde and Alliance could be more intense too. We fight alongside of eachother since expansions. It's getting bored. I can only hope we will have a new continent such as Kul'Tiras that we slowly claim from different sides / shores while battling for borderlines with each others too. I'm not guessing raid bosses and prime enemies, but I can only hope they involve the long missing couple Alleria / Turalyon to the next expac too. From what I saw in the last cutscene for Alleria she was infused by void energy which may turn her into an enemy. It could give a huge twist and great potential to the story if the couple turn against each other as shadow versus light in the coming story.I hope there will be a brand new "capital city" place and I double-hope it would NOT be Dalaran for the third time. Very boring especially for those who played through actively both Dalaran-Xpac. Something new would be great. As RAIDs, the most interesting instance environment in vanilla wow was claimed by the Troll instances like the original Zul'farrak and Zul'Gurub raids for purely their full outdoor style. If we'll see trolls again it would be fantastic to have a new outdoor raid.RACE / CLASSAssuming the WoW historyTBC: new racesWotLK: new classCata: new racesMoP: new class & new raceWoD: —Legion: new classIt would be logical that they come up with new race this time. However I don't think either Naga or Murloc fits here. Both are dumb creature with nothing more than animal sense/instinct. The tauren was the borderline for these creatures but those two are dumber by far. The Ethereal however is a very likely option. They also have some background history and would fit nicely with a possible void-themed story.Aside of races and classes I would love to see a new profession too as the last one was introduced 7 years ago in Cataclysm.ARTIFACTI don't see how could they remove the Artifact weapons storywise, that we already found and fight for, plus Artifacts took a lot of modeling and other work away from development, so why on earth they would return to model and set 200 new weapons again? I reckon Artifacts stay with us. Maybe we can find other weapons too for the same spec (to get options to use different artifact effects), or we just get new trait "trees" and/or skins for the existing ones.Mission tables were a bit better in Legion than it was in WoD but it also gets boring for now.
So much speculation, so many possibilities...
im guessing what is happening with jaina, i need more lore about her :)
We all expect the return of the Old Gods (all of them at once), some new Void deity, queen Azshara & her new naga-n'raqi-void minions and a lot of story telling with Alleria Windrunner. I just hope that Blizzard won't make Jaina Proudmoore the new green Jesus :-(
