Drop the requirement to kill an enemy player. Problem solved. Mostly. :D
Commanders are on a fixed timer, every 3 hours, 2 minutes past the hour. They always spawn in the same place. With that knowledge, be prepared, and instead of trying to run to them, just be in place when they're about to spawn. You will never miss them.
So rather than one side running to a rampant 3000 to 50 win the side with the far greater numbers will simply tag and kill every elite. Simply changing the event when sharding is so broken won't fix anything.
Revert this change, make the base guards 4X as powerful, and give the underdog faction tenacity. Solved.
I did not see this one coming... How they managed to shoot themselves in the foot like this?- it seems like killing all commanders should be equivalent to losing battle in terms of as 5 commanders spawn and each drops 1(as much as i have seen), however, you must be extremely lucky to kill manage to kill more than 1. Now compare this the 10 you get from a win.- now the most efficient way is first to farm commanders (if you are on battle shard, hop to commander one) and then to go do the battle(if you are on commander shard, hop to battle one). This introduces a whole lot of other problems, for example now you have way less shards with battle on, and the same amount of people, you can imagine the lag with 2 horde raids clashing with 2 alliance raid over a flag. All they had to do was to change criteria from killing 1 player. For example: kill player OR defend a flag for 5 mins OR kill 100 alliance town guards OR whatever to participate.
They'll never understand that world pvp can never, ever be balanced. Should've just left it as it was and let the different shards have teams overpower the opposition. Nobody wants to fight an even match in world pvp, let alone try and fight a losing battle.
We will never see Battle for Nazjatar event anymore if u are searching for balance . its easy to think about it. if you see your server losing or has so many PVP battles and ganking most people will server hop to friends or other groups long before, cause its a waste of time to gank and get ganked when you need to do dailies, world quests, and rare hunt. if you are searching for balance the only way is to make the battle for Naz under a queue or give rewards similar to the winner with 1-2 fewer shards, in that case, it will not matter anymore if you win or lose basically give away for afking after killing one player from other faction!
Wow remove isnt fix, i have warmode on just for this and now its going to take the rest of the expac to get the tockens.... time to realm hop to one that has pvp ty for the encouragment to bypass this >.<
This is awful change. Where is the conquest rewards? I was in a group that killed a Commander last night and everyone got only 1 commendation. The rewards are not even similar. Band-aid an issue Blizz is not willing to take time to fix properly.

So how do you get on a shard that has PVP? I've had WM on all week and haven't seen any alliance. Sharding was a terrible idea
This change is WORSE. When the battle starts ANYONE can make raids and inject more players into the battle so creating another and WORSE snowball effect. On the first battle i done after the change there were like 5-6 horde raids camping everything. There is a flow in this system, the fight might not start on YOUR shard but you can get invited on another. Also the PVE is stupid because the other faction can steamroll you easily
So this mean that the lower pop faction isn't gonna get any reward instead of the 2 commendations?
Alliance needs to get more into World PvP, especially since they have always dominated horde in world pvp. I can count on one hand how many times I've lost wintergrasp or baradin hold against horde out of the hundred or so matches I've played. Same with epic battlegrounds.
