I have to go with Shadowfang Keep before the shattering and before heirlooms. The main reason is that it had great gear for my toons, but even after running it hundreds of times, I am still not sick of it. All that gear I got, like Robes of Arugal, Odo's Ley Staff, Arced War Axe, and even Butcher's Slicer, all hold a place in my heart. What strengthens it more for me is that back when we had to find groups manually, I grouped with someone for Shadowfang Keep that became a long term friend. All these years and we're still friends. I don't think anything can close to that for me.
My favorite zone to this day still has to be Mulgore. Just a very peaceful place to be. Grass-filled rolling hills. Makes you want to grow up in a place like that. That and my character is a Tauren, so he kind of did.
I absolutely love Winterspring. The scenery is beautiful, the creatures are magical, and there is purple cats! What more could one want?
My favorite would be Icecrown. I used to go around the zone looking for mining nodes while waiting for guild raid to start. Quite fun when another guildie realizes that you're farming again. XD
My favourite is Storm Peaks becouse music there is great. Also the best raid instance ever is located in this zone - Ulduar :)
I absolutely love the mysterious and fantastic Zangarmarsh, the swamp with the fluorescent wild life breathes a deep magical calm and hides many secrets. The enormous mushrooms make you feel like you're really in an enormous world full of danger and adventure, and the tripods roaming the zone have always intrigued me. The build of this zone and its various creatures was simply astonishing when I entered it for the first time back when The Burning Crusade was released. It took my breath away and made the immersion all the more real to me.
My favorite is Winterspring. It is because of the snowy backdrop and all the creatures in the area. My hunter is an engineer and had lots of targets to level up with. It is a very nice visual area and it has a diverse group of NPCs and beasts.
My favorite zone is Storm Peaks because I like how you can look up into the sky and see the Northern Lights and all around you is snow and icicles. This place reminds me of Alaska.
Can sit in Grizzly Hills all day. Pristine forest that looks like it belongs in Van Helsing + gorgeous violin soundtrack = win. Sit back, relax, turn the game sounds down and turn the music up. My day is now complete.
I think my favourite zone would be vashj'ir - Shimmering Flats. The whole idea of the "water world" is brand new and i love the uniqueness of the place. Shimmering flats has a lot of depth (unintentional pun) in it and has a lot of layer and scenary to it.
A doubled edged sword this one. I really like Stranglethorn Vale pre-shattering but I also really dislike it. I like it because the feel I got when entering it through Duskwood for the first time was really epic. The graphics are great and it really feels like a jungle to me. The reason why I dislike it is because it took me a very long time to get through it on my mage back in the old days maybe it was because I was relatively new to the game then or because I didn't play a lot but it felt like it took way to long to do most of the quests. Or maybe it was just because you could stay there for ten levels and there were still new quests to be done. So maybe if I had leveled an other way first and then came back when I was a bit more experienced I would've appreciated it more but even with all of these rationalizations it still feels epic and annoying at the same time. The same is true for the first time I entered Nagrand. I had the same feeling of grandeur from the zone but also all of the bad memories from Stranglethorn Vale came back and I wanted it to be over quickly. That zone also took me quite some time to complete but that was mostly because I played very little at the time and because of the bad memories wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been.
