100 replies later and people still don't understand the guide system is to help a new player START OFF. It's not to help them become a mythic raider. A gladiator. Etc. Just to start off. After they reach a certain level, they are no longer new, and will learn things on their own, or seek out help on the respective discords which the mentors should direct them to. People who are trying to gatekeep HELPING PEOPLE are outright ridiculous.
does anyone know if the achievements required are required per character or account? like can you be a mentor on any character if you met the requirements on one specific toon but say you switched mains at some point?
The system seems... pretty weak so far. There should be more reqs...
So I won't be able to turn this on. Guess I will have to keep helping the old fashioned way.
There should be an achievement point requirement or something. This is going to be way too easy to get for people who are going to abuse it.
Kinda weird those requirements are tied to BFA content. As someone who skipped BFA completely I know I wouldn't be able to apply unless I go back and do outdated content. I hope they will update it with Shadowlands content on 9.1
Is it me or is WoW trying to do things FFXIV already has in place?
So, no good standing with your account and/or account time? If the major concern are trolls and people abusing it...
What do we get in return ?
If these comments are anything to go by. One of the requirements should be don't be a ****
A lot of people complaining that it shouldn't count people who killed the bosses on LFR. They still need to have one of the other achievements completed too, and this system is just for people with experience in the game to help NEW players, absolutely no reason to need to be a Heroic raider to do that.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything in my life go this far from bad to worse... this is purely stupid
You do realize that no one needs toxic raiders like you as guides? Raids are 0.1% of the game
Being a teacher/mentor is about having a good grasp and level of experience on topic or subject matter, but even more so on having the patience and demeanor to work with someone who may have little to no knowledge. In dealing with questions that some respond with as "Dumb" or "How could you not even know that", instead being open minded and understanding that with just a little guidance you can help someone get from Point A to Point B.While I understand a lot of the gating is there to keep trolls out and to also show some level of experience on the topics / subject matter; we all know that trolls can do all of these things too. We've all been in that raid where some A-Hole was going belligerent because someone stood in the fire, or did something accidentally which caused major mechanic issues or a wipe. That A-hole will likely clear the gates set forth, and be able to click that Mentor button, even though most people that play with or know them; know they won't be a good mentor.I'm hoping that there is more segmented areas for people to sign up for as a Mentor / Mentee rather than just a sign-up for WOW overall. Things like quests, pvp, raids, dungeons, professions, class, even lore. That way the person signing up can identify what they feel best suits their experience, and the person looking for help can be paired with someone that feels they are experienced with that topic. Would also be nice to have some sort of feedback mechanism that went both ways.In reality though, I do hope this works out. After having had issues recently with realm connections and having to interact with Blizzard's Customer Service (or lack thereof), my hope is that maybe this will free up their reps to work on more pressing issues rather than smaller ticket items like quest confusion and other things. From viewing their forums, it seems like a lot of tickets get opened for things that a Mentor could probably assist with, or that could be answered in General / Trade Chat if someone was willing to help instead of turning every question into a sarcastic joke.
Well I am dissapointed - I kinda expected to be it harder in terms of achievement points. And funny thing is that I can not be a Guide because I did not spend too much time with currect datadisc (I did a hunt for long boi but anyway). So mine 16600 achievement points, Loremaster Title, Explorer Title, Dungeon heroes achievements, 60+ reputations, more than half of world events achievements, and so more are NOT enough to be a guide for a newbies?I mean which values are important for being a guide for new players?
