RemovedOn topic, I'm loving the coverage of Evoker and have been watching Limit's Max play Gary the Dargon. It's legit gameplay wise, you have the 3 builds for pve so far and I'm imagining 2 builds for pvp so far. All the mobility looks amazing and it's a good mix of simple and complex to scratch that itch .
This honestly looks really fun. I'm mot a fan of all the current casting classes because they are either very slow movement wise, like there is no ability to cast while moving or have something be a insta cast, (im a feral druid main who cant stand playing something slow). I really like the hover ability and how everything visually looks, along with the defensives and group utility. I am very very excited to see more info on this and hopefully get into the beta testing!
The masterly indicates very strongly to me that galakrond will be the final boss of this xpac.
I dislike the red animations of the dps spec. Living flame looks like a lesser fire bolt. Looks like a blood spell more than a fire spell. The firestorm or what ever where it throws cinders is very lack luster. I was expecting a combination of rain of fire from warlocks and the demonoly talent where flying demons hit into an aoe mixture. I wish they upgraded those animations and made them more flashy. On the other hand I wish Soar didn't really have a cool down as it is a lot cooler to fly as your character than using a mount. Since it can't be used in instances or in combat theres really no point in having a 5 min cool down. Sounds like an anti fun mechanic.
hopefully they fix empowerment for this spec because its super lackluster nothing interesting, just increasing a dot or hitting more targets seems boring for a new mechanic but i could get over that since from what i see everything else looks fun but my big concern in the talents tyranny and power swell both those talents promote holding till max level even if its not needed in the situation which as they said when they first revealed in the dragon flight reveal stream they did not want to do because it would just make it into a long cast time at that point rather then an interesting mechanic with levels and both these talents are too good to pass up so i dont know how they even made it into testing
Curious if nochannel macros will work for empowering to prevent oopsies.
Thank you for the review PreHeet, Envoker looks amazing
The Rescue talent could be very powerful in these annoying mythic+ with Necrotic affix. The ability to support the tank at kiting by carrying him away huge distances could help a lot. Also this is the first DPS spec having this kind of utility, so with multiple Evokers in a group it would be possible to use that with every pack.
I don't really know why a strict blue only build should be the best single target build. Living Flame vastly outperforms Azure Strike as a filler, esp. with 3 stacks of ruby embers. Looking at a build like this: https://www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/evoker/devastation/BAAMVJWZFQRUKEYEBR (i'm unsure about tyranny and how cooldowns will clash, unless it lands at a 1 min CD, it will always feel bad) or maybe even something like this: https://www.wowhead.com/beta/talent-calc/evoker/devastation/BAAMVJWZFQREKCJEBQ (but that only sims will tell how the upgrades to eternity surge, charged blast and cascading power will compare to the mastery benefit during the CD)Rotation would look like this: 1) Eternity Surge on cooldown, at charge level 1 (there is a solid argument, that even with Power Swell, the extra disintegrate doesn't outweigh the damage loss)2) Fire Breath on cooldown at maximum charge level3) Azure Strike two GCDs before Charged Blast comes of cooldown4) Charged Blast on cooldown5) Spend remaining Essence on Disintegrate, keep essence at 2. 6) Living Flame filler, keep up ruby embers.7) Azure Strike for movement.
Awesome
Quite concerned about this turning into a Potato single target and 2-target spec that is built around being a stacked AOE gimmick to be effective, and then crutching on group utility / hybrid off-healing in order to find use on fights that it doesn't specialize at. Especially because its obviously not a pure-DPS spec and literally has 1 spec option for DPS and thus extremely limited flexibility.. So hopefully they give this Frost variation some serious single target / 2 target / 3-target oomph.Other thoughts... Some of the Evoker raid utility built around protecting allies also seems extremely niche / lackluster and difficult to actually setup in a practical sense in a raid environment.. Kind of like priest Leap of faith.Time Spiral - (the raid wide Movement ability cooldown), seems very lackluster for a 2 min CD - and is outright terrible for some classes like Priest. I'd like to see it given some extra spice on top of what it already does since numerous specs hardly benefit much from it (another one is lol Dash for druids). Simply just resetting peoples movement abilities is pretty mediocre for a 2 Minute CD so I'm not a fan of its current iteration atm. Ideas: Give it a raid movespeed increase also, or a small raid-wide damage reduction, or a Aspect of the Fox type of effect where it allows the raid to movecast for a couple seconds, or a raid-wide haste buff or vers buff... Just tossing some ideas around, It needs something else added on top of what it has. Also worried about the "empowering spell" mechanic being unrewarding and lackluster.
What kind of annoys me about this is that it feels a lot like a fancier mage. Especially if you take in consideration that people have been asking for a mage-healer using time related magic ever since we first got alter time.We got fire spells. We got frost spells, and we got time-related spells to heal.Makes me wish they'd introduce new specs to existing classes occasionally, instead of just adding new classes. Would be nice to potentially play something new without having to dump your old character.
Evokers looks quite good, with enough of a draconic flair to be uniqueThe best for you 'other race' Evokers to hope for is more visage forms. true draconic magic is not meant for other races.
Blizzard couldn't even be bothered to have a new humanoid model. More corner-cutting and asset re-use. No interest in being a blood elf.
