Augmentation Evoker Tech - Treemouth's Consume in Mythic+ Brackenhide Hollow

The Augmentation Evoker talent tree is full of cool and unusual abilities that can be used to devastating effect in Mythic+. Today, we'll cover how to use
Bestow Weyrnstone
to bypass Treemouth's
Consuming
phase.
Consume - And why it matters
Every minute, Treemouth casts
Grasping Vines
, and follows up by casting
Consume
on any players in the circle at the end of the cast. This causes the player(s) consumed to take heavy ticking damage while inside the boss (for up to 10s seconds), and while this is happening, Treemouth gains a shield for 6% of his health. Breaking this shield spits the player out, along with four adds. As this happens, the player ejected out of Treemouth is also affected by
Partially Digested
, causing them to take massively increased damage if they get consumed on the next cast.
If nobody gets eaten, Treemouth gains
Starving Frenzy
, buffing all his damage (but not that of the adds!) by 150%, and causing him to auto-attack 20% faster.
Dealing with this mechanic properly is terrible for two reasons:
The shield applied while Treemouth is
Consuming
a player effectively causes you to sink DPS into a worthless target, as breaking the shield is
not even necessary
. In fact, you have an incentive to cause the shield to not spawn at all - we'll come back to this
Because
Partially Digested
lasts longer than the cooldown of
Consume
(since it will be applied up to 12 seconds from when
Grasping Vines
is cast), unless you have a way to drop this debuff, you will need to sort out a consume rotation
You can take advantage of a few spells to break this effect and cause Treemouth to spit players out early. Using any immunity, such as
Divine Shield
or
Ice Block
, while inside Treemouth causes the player to be spat out immediately.
Death Knights can also
Anti-Magic Shell
just before they are spat out to immune
Partially Digested
, allowing them to get consumed every time.
Abusing Weyrnstones for Fun and Profit
One likely unintended aspect of Treemouth's
Consume
implementation is that exiting the boss early is possible with forced relocation effects. The easiest way to do this in 10.1.5 is to get your Augmentation Evoker to talent into
Bestow Weyrnstone
and to give one to another player - with the tank being the best candidate for regular groups. The conjured
Weyrnstone
can be used up to 5 times and each
Weyrnstone
has an independent 2 minute cooldown - making it perfect for our use case!
You can then simply alternate between the two
Weyrnstone
players - have them get eaten, and use
Weyrnstone
so that it finishes
after
Consuming
starts channeling
to be teleported to the other Weyrnstone Bearer's location. This instantly breaks the shield, spawns the adds, and allows you to not have to waste any time.
You can see this in action on this clip:
The order in which you use the
Weyrnstone
depends on whether you are pulling trash on top of Treemouth. As a general rule, we strongly recommend at least finishing off the Wilted Oaks while Treemouth is in combat - they do nothing other than their breath (which is a very infrequent kick), and provide a fantastic amount of funnel for any spec able to capitalize from extra targets. If you are doing this, your order then becomes:
Augmentation Evoker
Tank
Augmentation Evoker uses
Bestow Weyrnstone
on a second player
This extra player uses
Weyrnstone
If you are not pulling trash on Treemouth, the tank can safely take the first consume (30 seconds into the pull).
If, for any reason, you fail to do this (such as if the Augmentation Evoker dies), In the dominant group composition in Mythic+ today, you can send the holy paladin down on the next Consume and get them to instantly use
Divine Shield
.
Finally, If you are unfortunate enough to get a fourth
Consume
, Treemouth is likely low enough on HP to justify not getting anybody eaten. This amplifies the tank damage Treemouth does, but, frankly, there's very little of it to start with. Just remember to not disrespect
Vine Whip
if you do decide to do this. You can see this being done
here
.

Looks like something Blizzard will patch in about a month or two.

Onto the topic, yeah that once again shows how little, if any, THOUGHTFUL internal testing Blizz did for this Spec. Unless ofcourse it's all "working as intended" and they wanted a broken af Spec that creates even more broken af combo with other specific Specs in the game to laugh at anyone and everyone who doesn't want to play the MetaSlaves game.
Free speech is just not what it used to be.....
Freedom of speech doesn't apply here. The comment section of a commercial/fan page is not public space.
Not playing a drac, I don't mind the changes much. If blizzard feels like buffing a class/spec, they will do so. If they feel like nerfing it as well.
