I really dont bother about recent exploits or getting banned but it really make me sad when people go harsh about this thing. In PvP such exploits happens lot - do you even care seriously like now? Most top guild players knew this was wrong even though they used exploit. Blizz new about this bug and also warned by few guilds in PTR still they didnt take it seriously. Both are guilty but as usual Blizz got upper hand. What done is done - but why take such action which kill the World first kill-race? It is one exciting aspect of game - there is no need to ruin it. They can be punish for their mistake by other way. Most comments about guilds(in armory or in other wow sites) who used exploits it filled with jealousy. They are more happy because Paragon/other guilds got banned.
Personally I think 8 days is about the right amount of time off from the game. I do think that Blizzard should ALSO have banned any character on the account from all World Firsts for 30 days. Blizzard does bear some responsibility for not having fixed this exploit before going live with the patch. Particularly if they had issued warning to palyers on the PRT for using it.
Wait, your character gets banned for 8days or your account?
Top guilds that abused the bug only did it out of fear that other guilds would abuse the bug and get ahead of them. They took the risk, and cheated because they feared to be cheated out by the competition.
Is what they did very different from joining LFR with several guildies - each of which you've paid X gold - with the understanding that they will roll on loot of interest to you and trade it to you if they win? Can you still trade loot with other members even if they have already run the instance for that week?
