This is the best feral weapon available pre-raiding. If you're a druid, make sure you grind Cenarion rep while leveling to 70.

There are a few blue ones you can get while leveling, but nothing that measures up to this baby. A DPS upgrade to it can be found in Karazahn, or however you spell it: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28658

You can grind CE rep without doing quests. Just run Coilfang 5-mans (Slave Pens and the Underbog) and do the repeatable quest "Unidentified Plant Parts" until honored.
By doing this you can achieve 7000/12000 CE Rep at lvl 64 not counting the CE quests in Blade's Edge.

Rep Grinds are not as bad as they used to be in the past. The above posters are correct in their assessments, the best way to grind your rep with CE is to run the 5-mans in Coilfang until you get to honored, then work on quests, including the plant parts one (although I do not know if the plant parts give rep past honored). I do know that there is a repeatable quest involving the lvl 70 5-man raid in coilfang (forget the name) that DOES keep giving rep all the way to exalted. In any case, saving quests until after you get honored is a good idea.

And as for this weapon, it is BY FAR the best feral druid tanking weapon in the game, without question. It has everything a bear tank could ask for in a weapon. If you are a druid and if you think there is any chance that you might want to tank end-game, make SURE you grind CE rep as you level so you dont have to do it later on.

The rep gain from mobs in the SV is massive, about 10-15 runs nets an exalted reputation, depending on the extent of the mob clearing and the drops of armaments.

nop it isnt i am exalted and i did like 15 run in steamvault to get exalted so now i have it and 500 more in armor in bear firm give me 3k+ mre armor in dier bear form and now i havw 16k+ in armor

Earthwarden is a great weapon and a must-have for every level 70 feral druid who tanks in bear form at all. The price is a steal for what you get; the hard part is grinding the reputation for it. However, it's really not that bad. Steamvaults can be a very quick and very easy dungeon with a good group and on certain days I've done it 3 times in a row in slightly less than 3 hours total for all the runs. It took me approximately ~30 runs to get from honored to exalted, which isn't bad at all compared to previous rep grinds. (Argent Dawn, anyone?) It actually took me more runs to get my Moonglade Shoulders!

My only problem with this weapon is that I really wish it had some stamina on it. That set aside it is fantastic. Definitely get a +35 agility enchant for the extra dodge, armor and crit. It will serve you as a tanking weapon for a long time (until you have a shot at the Wildfury Greatstaff) and as a DPS weapon until you get a heroic mode feral staff, Staff of Natural Fury, Terestian's, etc. that have over 500 attack power in addition to other delicious stats for kitty (and bear) form.

As a bear tank I have found that it's easy to stealth into the area where the slaves are in steamvaults and kill them one at a time solo. There are 16 slaves and slavemasters that it is possible to pull one at a time and get 12 rep each, so each stealth solo run gets you almost 200 rep. It would take a long time to get to exalted this way, but it filled in a few hundred rep while looking for a group for a full run.

I just had another feral druid tell me this stuff isnt that great... Im sorry but having armor and amazing AP and feral combat skills all on one item makes this a amazing weapon. it lacks stats but this is the best tanking feral weapon i have seen so far. Id say put a 35 agility enchant on it and your good to go. Or a 35strength if there is one of those. sorry to be so nub but im not familar with alot new enchants.

On the current PTR for patch 2.1 this mace got an extra 39 Stamina and 2 more defense rating:

A great weapon, but a tough grind to get it. I had to make around 12-15 runs as well as buy 40+ coilfang armaments from Auctions costing around 800g (average price on my server is 20g). If you are are a level 60 or below and aiming for this weapon take the advice from previous posters and it will save you alot of time and gold as I did it the hard way.

24 weapon skill rating translates to 10 weapon skill at level 70.

One thing about grinding rep with the plant parts - You can get 20 of them in 5 minutes. Did that on lvl 63 with my druid using only swipe in bearform and the water breathing potion i got for one of the quests. In Serpent lake there are fish called Mudfin Frenzy. So by doing this you can get 300 rep per 5 minutes or 3600 per hour. That could get you to honored really fast. You need 360 plant parts to get to honored, so thats hour and a half of grinding? Damn sweet.
The fish respawn pretty fast, and the lake is quite big :).

Earthwarden:

Armor gained (w/ Thick Hide) 500*5*1.1 = 2750
Health gained (w/ HotW) 39*10*1.25*1.2 = 585
+27 defense rating = 27/2.37 = 11.39 defense skill. This leads to...
Increases the chance of being missed by an attack by 0.44%
Increases the chance to Dodge an attack by 0.44%

+24 feral combat skill rating = 24/3.9 = 6.15 feral combat skill. So, 6*0.1 = +0.60% extra crit chance against mobs above your level.

After many Steamvault runs, I finally replaced my Braxxis staff with this.

As noted above, it's the 200AP increase that makes the biggest difference. It's much easier to hold aggro, and I am more temped to PvP in tank gear now, as I can do some decent DPS, and it's very hard to bring me down.

The defense on the is very nice as well. Once you have this, you can start to think about replacing your Clefthoof gear with items like Zierhut's and the Merc Gladiator's Chest.

I believe also that this is a reference to the name of Deathwing before he became known as Deathwing the Destroyer. Before the black dragon was driven completely insane, he was known as Neltharion the Earth Warden. I suppose making the hammer green and demonic-looking adds to the fact that he became what was seen as the essence of all evil.

This is a nice moonkin second weapon to use when you're oom (mainly solo pve and pvp), or when you're silenced. For those who aren't boomkin, you regenerate mana while you hit melee.

Perfect for feral druid tanks for a variety of reasons. Besides the obvious armor, stamina, etc, this item is also a valuable source of expertise.

Expertise is important for druid and warrior tanks not only because it makes their threat more consistent by increasing the chance that high-threat special attacks hit their targets. It is also doubly important against bosses because it reduces their chance to parry. Since a parry results in the next autoattack swing being hastened by as much as 40-50%, getting parried by a boss can result in a deadly burst of damage.

I recommend to any feral druid tank to take expertise seriously, especially for its value in boss fights where druid tanks are already rather weak compared to warriors.

This is one of only three likely sources of expertise that a druid tank can get. The others are:

Brooch of Deftness
Bought for 35 Badges of Justice
Shapeshifter's Signet
Requires Exalted Lower City

All three items are reasonably attainable even for casual players. Their combined expertise rating is 65, or a total of 16.67 at level 70. This reduces your target's chance to dodge and parry by 4.17%, for a total of 8.33% increased chance to score a hit.

by the way, this does not cost as much as it says, because of the price reductions due to reputation. the price at exalted is 212g 54s 54c. because i had to farm for money to get this, and i ended up farming more than i needed.

Expertise does have some value because it reduces the amount of dodges and parries. Because each parry reduces the mobs swing delay, it will reduce incoming burst damage by a small amount. This isn't as big for a druid since we don't have to manage charges on shield block to avoid crushability.

I agree that fish killing is a great way to farm these. I was inspired by your kill rates, and took things a step further. As you mentioned, they have helpful aggro mechanics; they pull in packs of four and one pack can easily pull another, up to 8 or 12 total.

I swam around the lake on my lvl 70 Warlock casting Seed of Corruption on random fish. The fish would pull, all his buddies would pull, and 9-12 seconds later, there would be 4-12 fish at my feet to loot.

Unending breath made submerged farming trivial. I would have liked to try some Swim Speed Potions to help get between groups, but the cost of the swiftthistle would likely prohibit any real profit gains.

At any rate, it took me about 2 hours of farming supplemented by about 120 plant parts donated by guildies to hit honored. The biggest problem I had was groups that would have one or two fish stuck in a wall that could cause the whole group to evade. At that point, I had to resort to single killing with a nuke. My 1.5k shadowbolt hits did the trick, but it was still slower than SoC group killing.

All I got was 1 uncatalogued species.

Can anyone confirm the last point at which one may turn in the Uncatalogued Species quest? I've read in several places that they stop at revered. I don't think it matters, however, as there aren't any other repeatable quests that cut off like the plant parts do, so turn ins + quest will = exalted no matter when I do it. Thoughts?

I must stress that it is imperative to avoid all Cenarion Expedition quests until after you turn in your 360 plant parts.

I found it frustrating to keep track of them all so I would suggest the following addons:

This is a great suggestion and I've found that I'm able to complete a single run (including all the travel time) in exactly 30 mins.

That's 400 rep/hour without wasting time with terribad pug players and just blaming yourself if something goes wrong.

Now what happens if you can find at least another rogue/druid? The travel time to get to that tunnel becomes the limiting factor (since the mobs die twice as fast) and you'll end up using the 5 resets in less than an 1,5 hour gaining a respectable 1000 reputation points and the occasional coilfang armament+rare drop (dropped a ced's carver during one of my runs)

Stealth runs are a cheap way of grinding rep for people afraid/unable to join pugs but if you can gain 200g/hour (like a lot of peple can do without much effort) the turn ins are way more time efficient

200gold/15gold per armament=13 armaments*75 rep=975 rep/hour

Why am I still doing stealth runs if they aren't the most efficient way? Well I've gathered at least 5k rep without dropping my Orders from Lady Vashj yes I'm a sad bear....

PS the orders won't drop from the slaves, so you have to hope that one of the two slavemasters will do a favour to you; to have more chances of dropping them you could try to kill the first pack of nagas when you enter into the instance (and two other pulls along the way) but with my pre-kara gear (24k armor, 37% dodge and 14.2k hp plus a badge of tenacity CD to use) it's a fairly challenging fight because after you killed one you won't make it without CCing the other mob with a bash+barkskin+cyclone and a couple of healing touch; remember to keep up demo roar during the fight since it gives a good mitigation.

PPS if you can find at least other 3 stealthers, a very bigger opportunity opens up: grinding the bosses! I've 4 manned the first two bosses and the healer didn't never go OOM because of the ridicolous amount of Innervate CDs availlable, every boss will give you 125 rep plus the always good Large Prismatic Shard, with a full group i think it's also possible to take down easilly the third boss... Stealth detection can be a problem for resto druids, let them have a pair of Nightscape Boots and if you're serious about group stealth runs check the +stealth level items posted in a comment on that page (if you're jc you can grab up to +4 levels of stealth)

Might be just me, but I also see this as a potential weapon for a Death Knight aswell. I mean, we tank with two-handers. This is one of the few that has tanking stats. Defense and Expertise are handy for PvP too.

I think what he means is that a DK would have little reason to rep grind in TBC, apart from achievements. It's unlikely to hit exalted with CE by 68, at which point he should be in Northrend.
