The Ivory Cloud Serpent is obtained by using a Zan-Tien Lasso on the Ivory Cloud Serpent, which is a friendly rare NPC that occasionally flies fast around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. The Zan-Tien Lasso is a rare drop from Mogu enemies in the updated Vale of Eternal Blossoms. I found the Ivory Cloud Serpent during a Mogu assault, but I am unsure if it can be found during other assaults as well.

I found the Ivory Cloud Serpent as a friendly NPC flying a clockwise circle around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. I first spotted it flying over The Golden Stair and followed it (it was almost the same speed as my flying mount at 420% speed). It flew in front of the Shrine of Two Moons and Mogu'shan Palace where it then went south then west along the edge of the zone to the Tu Shen Burial Grounds. I lost track of it there.

I then waited along the path it took to see if I could catch it on its next pass. It wasn't until exactly 1 hour and 9 minutes later that I saw the Ivory Cloud Serpent again flying the same path. I had my Zan-Tien Lasso ready and was able to use it on the Cloud Serpent as it started to fly over where I was waiting. The range of the item was fairly short, had about a 2 second cast time, and required me to be stationary and not on a mount. Therefore I had to be ahead of the creature to get the cast off in time. As soon as I completed the cast, Ivory Cloud Serpent was added to my inventory.

After obtaining the mount, I waited for it a 3rd time to study its path and spawn time. Even after 2 hours, I never saw it again.

To add to Sanghelios' post, me and a friend camped this during a Mogu Invasion for way too many hours and here's what we discovered.

The Zan-Tien Lasso drop chance isn't too bad, three of us obtained it within 20-50minutes of farming, obviously a small sample size but likelihood of it being a tiny drop chance is slim, all of us obtained it from a Zan-Tien named mob, I did try to farm the Baruk after id obtained the mount but was unable to get a Lasso drop, so it either means I can't get another Lasso after getting the mount, I was unlucky or these mobs don't drop it.

After spotting it way over 15 times we were able to figure out its route and spawn location. It's spawn location is roughly 27,56 above the Zan-Tien camp there. It spawns and within less than a second is already flying at mach speeds and it's route is roughly this - https://gyazo.com/3d68006a91c4f79451ca1afb2b406e37 it does the full route once and then continues on the route to between the golden stairs and mogu'shan palace until it randomly despawns between those two points.

We didn't see it take any other route so fairly sure its just one route but its PTR so who knows and this was all during a Mogu Invasion.

The respawn time was 1-2hours we never seen anything beyond 2 hours once we knew its spawn spot.

I sat around in a Mantid Invasion for 5 hours and was unable to find a spawn, this either means it doesn't spawn or its route/spawn spot change each invasion, unlikely but worth noting.

The mount can be caught while you are on your flying mount currently, so parking your character at the spawn spot would be your best bet, it can also be tamed by 2 people at once, so I assume it can be tamed by an unlimited amount if two were able to get it at once.

A few seconds after one person uses the Lasso and gets the mount it will despawn, so you have this period for others to grab it also.

spam macro and wait friendly mob Ivory Cloud Serpent respawn, it may take more than an hour for this to happen.

I've waited 3 hours today during the (black empire) assault and it hasn't spawned so i'm going to say mogu assault is the golden key to this mount unless it spawns else where during different assaults......

It seems that it cannot spawn during N'zoth, Black Empire assault. I camped for 3 hours earlier today and nothing. Possibilty of different path is still there but atleast on this spawn point on Syilers post ( https://gyazo.com/3d68006a91c4f79451ca1afb2b406e37 ) I didn't have any luck in. The Lasso was quite easy to obtain, got it after half an hour of farming from Zan-Tien mobs in front of golden stairs during same assault (N'zoth, Black Empire assault).

Just got the mount on live, the info seems a little different compared to PTR. Started camping at 1:45 PM my time and saw nothing for nearly 3 hours, much longer than the upward estimated spawn timer of 2 hours that I'd heard from PTR. I don't think I simply missed a spawn, as I was in the same spot and would have seen it spawn if it did so earlier. When it spawned at 4:25, it was also about triple the height off the ground as the tree tops, way above where a group had formed and camped. You can use the lasso while mounted still, but either it doesn't work in a /use macro or you can't do it while flying - I'm not sure which was the issue as I was in a hurry to get a claim before it despawned, but I used it from my bars and got it. It had just stopped flying when I started the cast and despawned just after I got it, so it seems that window is about a second longer than the lasso cast.

I got the lasso during a N'Zoth invasion and the serpent spawned during a Mogu invasion, if this info helps anyone.

Just got mine Jan 21st 2020 on live servers. Spawn time of 1-2 hours is not totally accurate. I waited from 2:30 pm-4:50 pm before it spawned, with no knowledge of when the previous spawn was. So for me, it was at LEAST 2 hours 20 minutes, possibly more since no one was around when I started waiting.

When you think it's close to spawning, don't look away and keep spamming that target macro. He flies FAST and bolts as soon as he spawns. Try not to get any worm stacks reducing your flight speed or you'll lose him.

Multiple people can get this mount at once, he stops moving once someone lasso's him first, and then sits there for about 5 ish seconds before despawning letting other people lasso him. You can lasso while mounted, and it does not dismount you. The lasso has a 2-3 second cast time thats channeled, so once you start the channel don't move and cancel or he might despawn before it can finish again.

He spawns pretty high up, definitely in the range of the giant flying worms so try and stay relatively low under the giant worm's range and keep your camera looking up for the spawn. The direction he heads immediately after spawning is towards the giant gates bridging vale of eternal blossoms with the dread wastes, so get ready to fly in that direction.

Found today after approx 1 hour 50 min (unsure of previous spawn time, this is just how long I had my group up), camping at his spawn location during the warring clans assault. Most of us were just out of range of the worm's beams and I think that was too low as most of us didn't see him until he had flown out of our range, causing us to chase after him.

The macro I used was:

/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/use Zan-Tien Lasso

As others have said, the lasso does have a timer so make sure not to move when you start to cast! Once someone is successful he will stop moving for about 5-6 seconds before despawning.

The Ivory Cloud Serpent spawns at other places than the one listed. I use the lasso and got the mount 3h ago. I targeted it as it was flying very quickly from behind the spawn point listed as I had waited between 2.5-3h for it to spawn at spawn point that was listed in below comments. My advice is to camp out along its flight path in hopes that it will pass you by to lasso. As of right now other spawn points are unknown. You also must be high up as it flies very high, at least as high as the Gate of the Setting Sun. GL to all.

I just camped with a group (large raid group) that originally missed the spawn at 5pm PST. Spamming my macro, which I will add below, is what caught the serpent. I couldn't see him because of the group of people crowded on top of him plus he's very small in size. You have to fly basically at the same height of the worms in the air. Spawned after 2 hours and 43 minutes after the last confirmed spawn at 5pm PST. Some people didn't have their macro being spammed and missed the serpent and didn't get their mount. He disappeared very fast, 10 second despawn or so. Make sure you don't move when casting the Lasso as it has a two second cast time. You can cast the Lasso while mounted and druids cannot use the Lasso in flight form.

Got mine on Dalaran around 1:05 am . The comments about him going fast and spawning high are correct. He was a good bit higher than what Alani was spawning at. Face yourself towards the wall so you can chase after him after he bullets forth. Good luck!

One thing to note, and very important.

If you are camping the spawn point, be very high in the air, like at the worms from the great beyond level, doesnt matter if you get the 11 stacks, as that is the height he spawns at. I missed 2 spawns as NPC Scan didn't go off as I was too low. Live and learn eh.

Just got it sitting on the edge of the guard tower at 16.3, 71.9. I had my /tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/use Zan-Tien Lasso macro and was spamming it. The serpent went by really fast, I hit my macro and after a short cast, the mount popped into my bag. Thanks for the advice on this page! :)

Let me premise this post by saying this might need some further investigation to confirm. This is just what i experienced on the first day of season 4.

Today me and a few buddies camped this for roughly 8-9 hours. We had 4 spawns total. We went to the spawn point that had been discovered in previous comments, the first spawn we all missed, it was higher than we thought and we didn't even notice until some very excited people started linking their mounts. We got as much information as we could about the location. The coordinates are roughly correct we narrowed it down even further to 27, 60. The funny thing is as we continued to camp it a further 3 times, to help guildies and friends we noticed it was spawning 1 of 2 ways, and seemed to alternate between them. The first was as described in the original comments (flying anti clockwise), to our surprise it would also spawn in the same location, but a little higher up and fly anti-clockwise. Whether or not this is intended or somehow bugged out because of the lag the whole realm was experiencing we do not know.

Most obvious change from the PTR results is that the spawn timer twice exceeded 2 hours. One was 2 hours 17 minutes, the other was 2 hours 26 minutes. (sighting to sighting). We were attentive from about 1 hour 45 onward, tho if you can, i would suggest keep your eyes peeled from 1 hour 30 to be safe.

My tips would be to sit either at or just below the height of the patrolling danger worms on the coordinates, looking slightly down. Use a /tar.../use... macro and spam. Remember that the lasso is channeled (2 seconds i believe) and spamming the macro will reset the cast so as soon as you notice the spawn STOP spamming, the macro will do the work for you (provided you are in the right spot). There is a trade off tho, as you will be rather close to the wroms, it is likely that by the time it spawns, you will have 11 stacks of the slow (310% reduction in mounted speed), so if you aren't in the right spot it will be near impossible for you to catch up with the speedy pink boy. So the alternative which also worked for a friend is to stay active and aware of the worms: dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge them to avoid the slow debuff, this will also help you stay alert so that you don't miss the spawn then you will have plenty of speed to chase him down if you arent quite in the right spot. We got a total of 7 mounts between us today over 3 successful tamings, and one that we completely missed.

He spawns REALLY HIGH UP. You should be at about Great Worm From Beyond Height. You will get zapped, that doesn't matter if you're sat on his spawn point. I missed him the first time because I was too low down.

I just got this beautiful one. At 9:50 realm time, keeping in mind that the reset was at 8:00. I used the macro to target him “/tar Ivory cloud serpent /use zan-tien lasso” , he was too far for me to use the lasso at that point. Saw it at ( 24 63 )ish, a little far away from where I camped ; and started running to it. He flew fast since I had stacks from the ugly worms. He circled the zone , missed him at the gate ( 4.00 56.36) I was not fast enough , he continued circling ,he made a little stop at (74 28) , and I manager to catch him as he made a right turn and I faced him at (72 57) , here he flew right to me. The cast indeed is long in that moment , it seems forever. Good luck and happy hunting <3 . PS. you can cast while mounted; you cannot cast while moving; he spawns up up up; at some point as I was following him he despawned, but it was because he was just far and reappeared as I got close to it; he despawns after you successfully loot him. First of all don't forget to get the Zan-Tien Lasso from mobs !

Just obtained this beauty, 3:15 realm time Aerie Peak. My method; make a macro with:
/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/use Zan-Tien Lasso
I sat at the corner of the first watchtower along the wall near the setting sun garrison and spammed that macro. It targeted him well before in range for the lasso so I had a few moments to prepare in case the macro failed but it didn't.
Also note, there was another person camping at the spawn location, but was a little bit low in the air so I decided to take my chances at this location as it is very soon in the path after spawn. He takes off at light speed as soon as he spawns so camping the exact location risks him flying out of range, even with macro spam. Hope this helps someone :)

Here I'll help too.

I had similar spawn times over 2 hours. I just spammed the /target /use macros listed below and had it instantly when it spawned.

The biggest complaint I see from people is that they can target it but can't find him when he spawns. First, that's cuz as said he is HIGH UP. You think your high enough? Go higher. Also, I see all sorts of people that are really far away or facing the wrong direction. You should be facing south east (so that on your minimap circle with default UI your arrow is facing the + sign).

So yah, don't fall for the crowds of people floating really low or facing the west. Also, you can spam the macro even while it's being used - don't be afraid and think you are spamming too much that it will cancel itself, lol

The serpent doesn't actually fly that high. It is indeed on a level with the worms but only the lower flying ones. The true problem is that the lasso's reach is really short. It got away from me twice just now, being just out of reach each time, before a worm decided to fly parallel to me, slowed me down to nothing and it finally escaped.

Rarely have I screamed at my PC this much.

P.s. Finally got it just now. It suddenly stood still. I assume that was because another player was near me, also trying to catch it and the cloud serpent stays a bit when caught before despawning so if this was the case, this might be your saving grace as it was mine.

Camped this for 2 hours and 20 min at the mogu camp and he actually didnt spawn there but flew in from the east, as for height, he was at the same level as the top of the gate between vale and towlong above the word boss, if you are level with the roof your slightly above its path. Will add a screenshot I took before I got it when I can. TLDR be alighned with the highest roof of the massive gate to the west

First capture was apparently today on 22nd Jan at 12:40 pm CET (Saurfang-EU)
next one was at 2:35 pm, missed it
and then at 5:00 pm I targeted it, but my game decided to do major freeze. I thought I'm going to scream.
EDIT 1: there was nothing from 5 pm till now 9:30 pm and I'm still unlucky. this is torture.
EDIT 2: I'll just keep updating for respawn time reference. Next Ivory spawned at 12:20 am. Still didn't get it I am starting to hate this game

The third attempt I have noticed it flew to the spawn point from the east, I was waiting right on the spawn point with a few others. So it 100% has another spawn point.
The height is just as tall as the highest point of the gate to Townlong
This camping made me also realize how MUCH I hate those flying anger noodles!

To add to it being high up: the lasso cast also has a very long range. DO NOT feel the need to go -all- the way up to it while people are grabbing it, because you'll get "can't do that while moving" errors and may miss it. If you're too far, fly as fast as you can a little ways closer and use the lasso, and if it's still too far, quickly repeat. I think my range must have been almost 100 yards.

The respawn timer on Argent Dawn EU was every 2 hours, starting at a spawn when the zone transferred to Mogu invasion. As the various Mogu mobs popped into existence, so did the Ivory Cloud Serpent. This was 8 am game time. It then spawned again at 9:59, and again at 12:15 or so.

Everyone was camping just under Worm height, but he was somewhat lower than that, maybe 20-30 yards lower.

This bugger is quick, I sat spamming my macro and found that by the time the macro caught it up, it was already out of range
It spawns up near the height of the worms, but if you sit up there, the worms will slow your flying speed and you'll NEVER be able to catch it once it flies off
If you sit down below with the campers, it's gonna speed off and you might get caught by worms trying to catch it anyway

MY ADVICE: Especially if there isn't a huge camping group at the spawn area, sit at the top of the gate of the setting sun, on the southern side of it. I know plenty of people have gotten it while camping the spawn area, but I missed it 3x at that location for the above reasons. The gate is a great spot because you can sit, not get touched by worms, and you can even see it coming if your view distance is turned up, without all the distractions of people flying on dragons and other winged things.

I was able to nab mine today right after the servers had come back up from a maintenance. I think it had done a few laps of the area because I was at the spawn point, my macro caught it, then it got away. People said it despawned, but then I was sitting on top of the gate and a few minutes later it came back around!

Just got it, it spawned twice in about 2hours, i missed the first spawn cos I didnt have the lasso but I was ready for the next one.
I didn't even SEE it, just pressed the lasso macro as soon as I saw people looting it. So make sure you have that macro.

Alright, just got this baby (2:35AM Zuljin) after missing him on another shard (12:45 Wyrmrest after 3 hours of waiting). Here's my advice from my own personal tips as someone who experiences a lot of lag, haha!

I noticed that even with the huge raid group on the spawn, the serpent still got a decent distance away before it despawned - so you want to go where it'll stop, not where it'll spawn.

You do not want to be directly on spawn. This mount flies so fast and you don't want to chase it down with the worms around so what I did was place myself at 25, 60 facing 28, 54 (the spawn). You want to be a little higher than where Alani will pass but not too high for the worms to aggro and kill you. My advice is to just get comfortably high with the worms and then correct when you see Alani. You will get a ton of stacks of the stinky buff but the goal is to let the mount come to you and you tag it while it passes.

Once you've got your positioning good, just spam a macro. I used Xidana's and it worked great for me! When the serpent first spawns, the macro will see it but will alert you that it's too far to use the lasso. That's your first notice to pay attention to when the channel starts and stop spamming. Just keep spamming until you see that sweet channel bar and you should be good! Like I said, I lag a decent amount so I never actually saw it when I got it.

I can NOT confirm the spawn point mentioned in the top comment.

I camped nearly 2 hours (around 1 hour 50 minutes) right above the camp at 27:52 (in the area, most of the time exactly at 27 56 like the top comment stated) with highest view distance and spammable /tar Ivory Cloud Serpent macro.

However - when I found the Ivory Cloud Serpent by clicking my /tar macro, it came from south-west flying towards me. Captured it then at 31 52, he just flew right into me after I moved a little.

But nonetheless - either the server bugged and I did not see the spawn (spammed the macro nearly every second, so I don't think I missed the spawn) ... and the three people right next to me must have missed it too. Oooor the Ivory Cloud Serpent has another spawn point.

But to be fair - it's probably still the best option to camp there. No mobs to attack you and if you fligh at mountain height you're probably at the exact right spot, in addition you do not get stacks from the stupid slow worms.

Just got the mount, 30 minutes of farming the lasso. Then went over to the spawn point of the drake which is above the zan tien camp at around 29,59. Right now it is highly contested so theres going to be alot people there camping the spawn. Fortunately multiple people can get it as me and 3 other got it at the same time. I used this macro and just bound it to a key and sat and spammed it for maybe 20 minutes.

Just here to confirm what was said:

Spawn time is higher than reported on PTR (2-3.5 hours).
It spawns approx. on the same height as the Danger Worms, maybe a little bit lower.
I can confirm it spawns during Mogu Invasions.
As soon as someone catches it, it stops and you have 5-10 seconds to also catch it before it despawns.
It spawned near the camp that got reported as its spawn location by others.

Whatever you do .... DO NOT BE IN BIRD FORM! .... you will be taken out of form, and will NOT catch the mount! Two wasted hours sitting picking ones nose ... to fail, because now BirdForm ... MOUNTED, is not considered being mounted.

After looting this beautiful mount this morning, I wanted to chime in on this to share my perspective.

Syiler's comment was instrumental to my success, and I did watch his video, but frankly I was still a little surprised when the serpent spawned. The two things I noticed immediately:

1. The mount was higher than I expected. I was already camping within reach of the great worms, a tiny bit above the height of the gate on the edge of the zone, but he was actually a good 10-15 yards higher. I would say maybe 10-15 yards below worm height.

2. The NPC was *way* smaller than I expected. I was expecting something almost as visible as the great worms themselves, but it was considerably smaller.

Keep both of these things in mind when you're camping, and BE VIGILANT if there are others camping nearby. The window to share the capture is very brief. I would estimate that the serpent disappeared within 5-7 seconds of me hitting it with the lasso. Two people who were camping near me missed out because they didn't even realize the mob was up before it had disappeared.

Note: Yes, the worms will debuff you constantly while you're waiting. This did not present any problem whatsoever for me, even though I had to move a bit to get in range of the serpent. Even with 11 stacks of the debuff (appears to be the maximum), I had no issues getting in range. Your goal is not to chase the serpent, just get close enough to use the lasso, which has a pretty substantial range on it.

Hello fellow mount collectors!

What is the Ivory Cloud Serpent?
The Ivory Cloud Serpent is a rarespawn in Vale of the Eternal Blossoms during Mogu minor invasions. It awards a mount (100% chance); It is similar to TLPD, Aeonaxx, etc. in that aspect. It spawns roughly every 3 hours from my experience.

*Note* you will need to farm Zan-Tien Lasso in order to obtain this mount. It is a rare drop from Mogu mobs in Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

It is worth noting that I got the mount on my first day of camping (on it's second spawn) using this method.

I recommend adding a custom NPC ID for the Ivory Cloud Serpent: '163042' to your rare tracking addon. I highly recommend using the addon https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/silver-dragon. Add a sound alert for EZ mode.

I saw him spawn in the same location 4 times in a row. I did not move at all.

He spawns high (near the Great Worms from Beyond) and flies FAST, in a clockwise route around the map, initially heading toward Dread Wastes. The Great Worm From Beyond will zap you, but it doesn't matter, as stated in Syiler's PTR Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIG72DZkxtc). Just don't get too close or they will eat you lol. Spam your macro and you will get the tag if you are in the correct location when he spawns.

This macro worked for me - spamming it did not cause any issues in taming the mob. Just don't spam too quickly.

Tips:
Do not spam your macro too quickly. I was pressing mine at a rate of ~500ms+.
Camp with WM OFF.
Camp alone: don't join a raid.
He spawns very high up, near the Great Worms from Beyond - if you're in the right spot you won't need to move to get the tag. I did not move at all, I had 11 stacks of Great Worm's Foul Stench when I obtained the mount.
I recommend adding a custom NPC ID for the Ivory Cloud Serpent: '163042' to your rare tracking addon. I highly recommend using the addon Silverdragon. Add a sound alert for EZ mode.
You can't tame the mount in druid flight form.

I hope this is helpful for anyone chasing after the elusive Ivory Cloud Serpent!

Come to post some information to dispel some PTR and other misinformation after camping today for mine (on OCE-Frostmourne)!

Firstly, the spawn timer is certainly over 1hr minimum, with an unknown maximum. (i.e 1-? range). We had ours spawn at almost exactly 5hrs.
Secondly, the targeting macro is a MUST, as he flies off very quickly. Without the macro to immediately target him, it is very easy to miss his spawn.

So here is my account on the mount that I just got.

I sat there for around 8 hours today waiting for it to spawn, seen it one with the target macro as follows:

Somehow cast the Lasso and missed it, so I waited and thought maybe I need to move a bit, so I did and next time got it on target, but noticed on my minimap how much further north the mob was, missed it.

Got back to my PC another 2 hours later and there it was, on my mini map... EVEN FURTHER NORTH.

I noticed it the first time on my target macro around 31 46, not that I seen it spawn, but the first time I noticed it on my mini map. This could be because it has already spawned further south than what we were ALL camping and it made it's way around, or that it spawn even further north than we all think.

Either way I camped at 28 50, seen it on my mini map at 31 46, cast my lasso and by the time I got it the mob was already over my head.

I don't think any of us actually know where it spawns, only where we first see it, we need to remember how fast it goes and by the time you computer renders it, even at 10 view distance, it is not where it first was.

Waited at the spawn spot yesterday for about 2.5 hours but he spawned higher than expected and I was not running a macro. Only one person in the party spotted him (which he decided to not let the rest of us know....)

But I logged in today and positioned myself on top of the gate at loc 4.00 / 59.00 and while I was still making the macro for it spotted him coming straight towards me from the South. Luckily I had the lasso hotbarred so just spammed that as he got close and got a nice easy 5 minute catch :)

So me and brother just got us the mount in 2 tries (1 for each). For the first time the mount spawned after 1h and 37 minutes( no idea how ling since he despawned) and the second time it was after 2 hours n 7 minutes. This puts him in the correct estimated range of 1:45 - 2:30 .

Some more tips : - he spawns and guns instantly so people with macros(like my brother) be careful you might not be able to just stand still and tame and you might have to chase
-he spawn waaaay more higher than people expect him(where they camp him) if you don't get hit by worms afking you are lower than his spawn point
-he stops after he is tamed for 3 seconds roughly giving enough time to anyone chasing him to stop and cast the lasso
-he is not that fast you can keep up with him and out-run him if you know his route, i managed to keep up with him from behind and stopped on top of him and cast my lasso as he was already tamed by another player
-a simple target macro followed by the laso binded to another button is also extremely good and works
-my brother could not see the Ivory Serpent even though he could target and tame with the macro, carefull if you see players getting the mount and earning it you might not be able to see it so you need someone else to spot it for you or just be lucky with the spawn.

is confirmed, you need to be high in the air , you can make a macro : "/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent" , put it on a key and spawn it.
and one more thing, the invasions needs to be on top of spawn point, if not will not spawn.
were i got it on top of Gate of the Setting Sun , you need to chase him, but you will be slow by the worms that give you a debuff,

multiple players can get it in the same tim, not sure how manny , but we was more then 4.

At the group wait point (appx 27,55), slightly below where the worms can target you, looking slightly up and facing the Gate of the Setting Sun's leftmost tower at 16,71. Don't be hit by the worms! Ivory pops up and flies its route towards the left side of that left tower, and slightly higher. You can catch up to him by flying slightly to the right of the tower and cutting off his route. If you're going too slow fly further to the right to cut the route. You don't need to be on top of it but you cannot be moving when targeting.

I joined a group at 20:20, when I joined they had already been there for an hour or two already. Thing didn't spawn till 23:03. So spawn seems to either vary a lot, or theres an uncomfirmed spawn point which we missed at one point. Either way, get a good series on.

I used Sipder2s video for reference for where to be and how high to be & just spammed the macro. When he spawned I was out of range but a second or 2 later I was able to catch him.

I didn't expect a chance when I tried to get it before invasions ends tonight, since there were a lot of Alliance players camping at 26/56.
But the serpent decided to spawn at 21/63. Thanks to good graphic settings and Rare Tracker screaming and me - otherwise all of us would have missed it.

And thanks to the camp group camping too high (5 to 10 stacks of Worms Debuff on them), me and the only other horde player got that mount without any other people around us.
I only can recommend: each stack of that buff will lower your chance, so don't camp too high up. Im' still so exited about it <3

Tried my best to get a video of how high it spawns in relation to where people (including myself) normally sit and camp it. I'll throw it in the Video section of the page.

They are definitely up where the worms are. You can see how fast it shoots forward in this video. I felt like if I had the slow debuff from the worm, I would have never made it >.<

I think sitting lower and flying up when you target it would be your best bet.

After getting the lasso last night i thought about farming it there and then but loads where seemingly doing the same, Logged on this morning at 8am server time thought id go check it out. Dont know if i just got lucky today but i made a target macro and as soon as it was in plain sight i hit the lasso button ( was still on my own mount you will not get dismounted for this ) took me the grand total of around 4 minutes and i got the mount this way. So i missed my first attempt last night because I was too high up. I found the ideal height is about the top of the tower at the Gate of the Setting Sun

On my second attempt, I got the mount with the macro someone else posted in one of the top comments. If you stay around /way 29.56, 51.82, and go to the height i suggested, you should almost never get tagged by the worms (despite being high up), and you should be able to claim the mount for yourself. The approximate spawn location seems to be outside the area that the worms can tag you. If i had to guess, that was intentional.

From what i read in other posts, everyone who tags him gets the mount.

I just got him today. The spawn timer since the last one was right at 2 hours and 30 minutes. I was at the spawn point when my macro targeted him but he was already out of range. I knew he flew over the top of the big gate to the west so I headed him off and caught him as he flew by.

OK people - my two cents after getting this fine mount!

I used the exact coordinates posted by a few other people here - /way 26.8, 55.1
A lot of people have ballparked how high you should be, which can be hard to decipher - so here are my tips:

I made sure I was at roughly the same level as the top of the giant gate that separates Vale of Eternal Blossoms from Dread Wastes. It is the highest such structure along the wall to the west, and flanked by two towers, one on either side.
If you are at the right spot, you should be below the Great Worm From Beyond by about 20 yards or so. I used the gate as a guideline, as it's much easier to gauge that way
You should be getting hit by the Worm's Great Worm's Foul Stench almost every time it passes - I was at 11 stacks pretty much the entire time. It slows you greatly, but you don't need to really move if you are in the right spot.
You don't want to be too high, such that you are in the Great Worms' melee range. I learned the hard way after it one-shot me pretty handily.

Use the macro posted by hiimkoko above - it worked great for me. I pressed it about twice a second non-stop while watching TV.
If you want a visual as to what the NPC looks like and where and how high it flies, I would recommend the video guide by syiler, posted in the videos section of this page.
If your shard is dead and there is no one camping the spawn point listed, you can try your luck waiting on one of the towers or the gate along the wall - but I would check at the spawn point first.

Get to the coords, fly as high as the top of the Gate of the Setting Sun, and wait, wait for long time.
This spot, no matter what, the Worms won't Kill you (bump on you, agro and kill), just fly past you while debuffing you.

Don't panic, just chill there, spamming the macro, I've seen many people missing it because they kept flying away from worms, or just searching for it. DON'T, get to the spot and CAMP, that is what this mount is for. TLDP, Poseidus, and other rare spawns, your best bet is to CAMP their known spawn points, 27, 57 for this one, and as high as I said above, the worms will be flying a tiny bit higher, some may fly really close, but other than hit you for ~8k and stack the debuff, you won't need to MOVE when the NPC spawns, the lasso channels for quick 2s and the item goes to your bags.

I edited the macro others posted so it announces the target in chat and plays the sound file of Millhouse Manastorm complaining if your target is the serpent. (added the sound file warning because I read on a second monitor while spamming my macro). It also will make the sound and spam chat if Alani is near you (roughly every 30m fyi), but I put that there to make sure the macro is working just in case. Gotta have sound enabled for the sound to play. Make sure you have a targeting macro bound to a key you spam! Our group had one VERY bummed guy at the end from our premade of 20 who couldn't TL;DR a macro from Wowhead and missed it after over an hour with us. </sad trombone>

I camped roughly 2h10m before it spawned at very close to 27 55ish. Our raid gathered at exactly the height were the worms didn't speed debuff us any more, but that didn't matter because the ICS spawned on top of us roughly our height and was in our bags before it could move at all. Except for the one very sad panda.

It spawns in a lot closer to the sky worms than to the ground. No further than 40 yards lower than the sky worms. And it spawns within a couple of minutes of the assault switching from Mantid to Mogu, which happens once every four weeks.

If the servers are up, and you're home from work (a lot more of us for now) when it goes from N'zoth -> Mogu, then you can camp it then as well.

I camped the spawn point (27,56) just before the mogu invasion started.. and the Ivory Cloud Serpent spawned within 5 minutes. I didn't know how high the rare would spawn, so I camped a little over where the Great Worm From Beyond flies. When the macro below targeted the Ivory Cloud Serpent, I was a little higher than I should have been, so it did not cast. I had to fly after the Ivory Cloud Serpent for about a minute, before I could catch up and use the Zan-Tien Lasso to catch it :D

I just obtained this during a Mogu invasion. I like the smoke models that come out of its nose!

Some notes:

It flies really fast and it's quite a small model. About a quarter or a third of the size of the Great Worms.

I had 2 stacks of the flight debuff and I had to tail it for about a minute before I could get alongside to lasso. I think if you have 3+ stacks it will be simply impossible to keep up with it unless you intersect its flight path.

So if you're going to camp its spawn you better make sure you have your full attention on the game at all times and be at the exact spawn point.

Man! What an adrenaline rush. Waited 3 Hours and 42 Minutes (thought it would never end)

Ivory Cloud Serpent DOES spawn during both invasions. This week is Uldum invasion. The Lasso also dropped for me during this week Uldum invasion.

Ended up targeting it after hours of spamming the /target Ivory Cloud macro. Initially couldn't see it, even though it was targeted. Looked up and found him just below where worms fly. He bolted toward that first tower to the West. Tried to catch him enroute to tower, but the cast time on lasso was too long. Ended up cutting him off from the First tower to the Main wide tower and Lassoing him just in time. He stopped and others started to collect their mounts for 5 seconds before he dissipated again. I did the WM ON, but got Net-O-Matic'd like 3 times throughout, so I recommend doing it WM off.

This was so helpful! I have camped three times to get the mount and almost missed him on the last try. A guild mate and I were waiting in the the spawn area. I had made a macro and was watching my map, happened to mention it was weird that my target icon turned green. My guild mate was tabbed out to choose a video and screamed, 'That means he spawned!"

We set off in a trajectory to intersect, spamming the macro key and BAM! He stopped mid air, dropped in my bag and that was that. He is FAST and make the macro to both target and cast the lasso! You will be glad you did!

Dragon spawned right at reset 11am EST today on Thrall US. i missed the spawn by seconds. It re-spawned again within 15 minutes which my wife missed. She waited another 15 minutes and it spawned once again. Not sure if they changed the spawn rate but we were extremely lucky today.

30,1 51,3 worked for me, seems spawnpoint is there. Height was same as Alani elite fly height, so those worms didnt attacked me at all and slow me down. it spawned a bit above me and used this macro to catch it.

I caught it at 26.88 55.10 exactly. Height was top of the opposite gate(roof). Worms were slowing me and i was at 11 stacks. I didn't see it at all. I was spamming macro 2 times in a second. I used normal Lasso after it became my target. Spamming was interrupting lasso. You have very short period of time like 4-5 seconds. Additionally i was in 5 man group(no raid group) all in same realm and war made off. There were approximately 15 player waiting for mount. Just 3 people got it. So crowded spot means nothing. Good luck. I hope this info helps you.

We were all piled on top of each other in a large group, getting carpal tunnel syndrome from spamming away the macro. Most of us never even saw it, it just started to appear in everyone's bag. It spawned right in the middle of our mass of flapping wiggling mounts. So if you have the coord right, you don't need to chase. We all had 11 stacks of worm barf on us so that wasn't even possible and we had to waddle back home.

Wait time was 2 hr and 40 min. So be patient. I have this lasso on all my alts so I am assuming that I can delete them all now. I don't think you can use it for anything else?

Spawned at 1:48AM server time on Wyrmrest Accord— it was reported that it had previously spawned at 10:58PM server time.

I was personally lined up at about even with the gate, with many of the members of the camping group a bit above or below me. It spawned a bit of a way below any of us clustered in the group (I’d say 10-20 yards?), but higher than Alani or the onyx serpents that fly around during a mogu invasion; despite that, we were able to lasso it. I’ve heard that the height at which it spawns can be variable, but I’ve no intention to camp it again to find out.

As others have reported you can apparently lasso it without the model even phasing in yet. Once I noticed it was up and had gotten my mount, it was already beginning to disappear.

As it currently stands, it looks like the only way to get this is to wait for it and not get up once you begin, because it’s gone within ten seconds of spawning (and that’s a generous estimate). Unless you get exceedingly lucky to be there at the right time, that’s likely to be the case for years to come if reports of it flying two loops around its path before despawning are true.

I’d recommend camping it now rather than later. Having company makes the wait slightly less painful.

Another tip: have the sound in your game on. Using the lasso makes a very distinct snapping sort of sound effect, and as others have said, if you’re spamming the macro too fast, you can interrupt yourself and lose out on it altogether. The audio cue may be what keeps you from missing out!

UPDATE 5/2/20

For those wondering how competitive it is, the Ivory Cloud Serpent does appear to be very heavily camped at all times. Even on Cenarion Circle, a significantly low-pop server all around, there was a large group of people camping it last night within an hour of the invasion shifting to Mogu. Seeing as how its relatively "easy" to get, this will probably be a tough one to get your hands on for a while if you're going it alone. Might want to try when Shadowlands drops and everyone rushes to do new content.

Ivory Cloud Serpent spawned at precisely 3pm EST. I was in a raid group that formed to farm it. All of us were clustered together directly above the mogu camp at "Worm Height" (i.e. you are guaranteed to get hit with the flight speed debuff every time they pass by).

However, I received the mount while I was NOT pressing my macro button. I believe the mount MAY auto loot to everyone within the immediate vicinity in the raid group, but I cannot confirm for sure. I only say this because there were a few people in the group that did NOT get it, and they were NOT clustered with the rest of us at the time.

There are lots of groups that form to grab it...you just have to be paying attention when it spawns. It is claimable by multiple people, but after the first person lassos it, it'll despawn within 5 seconds. Forming a farm group is the BEST way to obtain it. Don't be shy.

This serpent flies the entire perimeter of the zone. From its spawn point (roughly southwest of the coordinates listed below), it flew towards Setting Sun Garrison. Then it few clockwise around the zone. I had 3 stacks of the worm hits and I was flying behind him at roughly same speed. I was never able to catch up and it didn't appear to be getting farther away. When I saw that he was about to turn, I stopped trailing him and flew diagonally to try and cut him off. This gave me a significant lead on him and I was able to catch him as he passed by me perpendicular to the direction I was facing. I caught him between Mogu'shan Palace and Shrine of Seven Stars.

He began turning near 75, 30...I cut him off and caught him near 80, 50.

The macro I was spamming did not work as intended because it was too far away and too high forced me to chase it.

Okay..this mount didn't spawn for me at the given spawn location. I waited in total 6 hours, two different times and then a kind person told me to go an wait at the roof above the word boss at the valley. He just tamed it there and he told me to wait for it there as well. I waited at this spot for 2:35 hours and YES it did fly next to me and people at the given spawn point were not able to get him. So if i was looking to tame it again just go and wait there guys.

I got this purely by ignorance. After receiving the quest Finding the Rajani I dropped the Zan-Tien Lasso. Had no idea what it was until I checked Wowhead then my eyes lit up, quick youtube video by styler on how to capture it and it was mine. Really nice looking mount too

Got the lasso off of a Zen Tien Mogu while farming parts for the Shadowbarb Mount quest. Went to the spawn point immediately after looting lasso and saw ICS spawn (Proudmoore @ 5:10 am) but could not get to him in time and missed it.

Waited at spawn point with another player just below worms which caused me to stay at 11 stacks of the speed debuff. ICS respawned at 8:00 (2 hrs 50 minutes spawn time). I spammed the macro but could not target him and was at 11 stacks of the speed debuff from giant worm and could not catch it in time so someone else got it and I missed it again.

Third time's apparently the charm! ICS respawned at 10:28 am (2 hours 28 minutes spawn time). This time I camped in the air between the Setting Sun Garrison and the spawn point above the road so it would have to fly towards my location. As soon as it spawned it immediately started flying in my direction. It's fairly fast and a lot smaller than Alani. I spammed the macro and it flew straight to me. Finally got it on the third try!

ICS respawned at 8:00 am (2 hrs 50 minutes spawn time). I spammed the macro but could not target him and was at 11 stacks of the speed debuff from giant worm and could not catch it in time so someone else got it and I missed it again.

Next spawn was at 10:29 am (2 hours 29 minutes). Interestingly, this time there were no Giant Worms in the sky. This time I camped in between the spawn point and the corner building of Setting Sun Garrison over the road so ICS would be flying towards me. That worked like a charm. It flew right to me and I spammed macro and finally got it!

So I have caught this twice now. Once for myself and once for my kid.

The biggest issues I can see from others is they don't know how high to be or where to face soooo.

I was at 26.8 55.1

I had my BACK to the gates and was facing the middle of the 2 mountains with what looks to be cobblestone paving.

You need to be HIGH, so high that you think that you might get melee'd by one of the worms but you don't (I literally kept inching higher). If Alani (the NPC who drops the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent) is at your level or above you then you are too low! You need be a good distance above her.

Apologies this is my first post... ^^;;

I just got this mount at around 3:30 - 3:40 AM EST. I don't remember how long I waited but I've seens folks come and go. I followed the advice of jjanchan and Telchar specifically to get this mount.
First things first, I am UNSURE about the spawn timer. I believe I started at around 12:20 am but it may have been earlier. There wasn't a lot of people either; I play on Durotan - US east server. It was during a mogu assault that I caught this thing. There has to be a correlation like most folks have already pointed out. I can't stress that a macro is key to this.
I was practically spamming my macro while watching Netflix and of course when I wasn't even looking I hear a whip sound and I looked at my game and I saw my char with a bar showing "Catching" or Taming to some effect. I was not dismounted and that serpent never even showed up on my screen. I have no idea where that sucker went but sure enough I looked in my bags and there it was! I was alone when I caught it. The other people that showed up tried to see if it was already flying. Stay confident and stay JUST under the dumb serpents. It's scary sure but after close to three hours and watching Alani spawn and despawn they will leave you alone... sort of. I had 11 stacks of that anti-flying debuff. That might be a key in staying close enough for the lasso to work. I was also making sure I was level with the top of the gate facing Dread Wastes.

I think this info is a little outdated and weirdly not complete so I thought I'd leave my two cents.

I just got him today after trying twice. I was doing it late at nite so it was just me and a few other people camping. He took over two hours both times (was an extremely boring wait).

I tried two different coords for his spawn point from here (if you'll look they are all different). Neither one was good, he was not in range when he spawned. Luckily the 2nd time someone saw him and started channeling immediately, I was able to see it and start channeling too.

A few points:

You actually want to be by a bunch of people doing this. When someone starts to cast on him he'll stop, that gives you a few seconds to see him and start channeling too (i.e. multiple people can capture him). My problem the first time was that no one was close enough to capture him and he just ran off.
If he spawns and runs off don't give up, he actually circles the Vale several times. I think what you'd want to do is to go to the gate nearby and wait for him, his path goes over that (see his path on other posts). The problem will be you'll likely be VERY slow with all the Great Worm stacks if you're waiting at the spawn point.
It's later in the xpac now, so you may be the only person camping him. Most of the strategies here assume there are a bunch of ppl camping (if there are a bunch camping the spawn point you have no choice but to do it with them), if that's not true then you may want to wait for him on his path instead of at spawn point. That will keep you away from the Great Worm debuff and give you more options.
Get an addon that will announce him, it's much better than just spamming the various macros here. I used SilverDragon and added his custom id 163042

Caught on Dalaran 4:41 PM realm time. Camped at 26.8, 55.1 with back to the giant ornate gate, facing the cobblestone path in between the two giant hill/mountains.
~20 yards under worms, full slow stack. Just stick in the same spot and keep your eyes out!

I got my lasso to try to get the Ivory Cloud Serpent after reading the page about Alani level 120 on WowHead. The comment said Alani was up when the Zan-Tien Lasso dropped for the player that happened to be farming for the last item he needed to get Alani.

I was in Vale of Eternal Blossoms and saw Alani was up so I invited Guildies to farm for the lasso with me at about 1:45 am. I focused on only Zan-Tein Mogu; mostly Raiders and Callers in Villages. I.got the Lasso at 2:42 am. Might just be luck about Alani and all, but felt I should report it..

I read the page on the lasso and copied the macro. There are 2 there. The one in the green post only gave me error messages. The first one that I think the green post took their's from was longer. I used it and it targeted Ivory Cloud Serpent for me when it spawned at about 4:02 am. but did not throw the lasso quickly enough and someone else got it.

I stayed for the next spawn and used a simple macro:
/tar Ivory
and I put it on key #!
I put the lasso directly on key #2.

I waited at the village where he spawns, TomTom:

I was at about the height of the top of the big double gate to the west, as suggested. It is true that the Great Worms from Beyond put a slowing debuff on you that stacks up to 11 and slows you for something crazy - 380% or so, but they did not attack me so I think the caution that if you do not go up higher than the height of top of the gate is correct.

It was a 2-and-a-half hour spawn timer Tuesday, Jun 2, 2020, on Sargeras. I had not seen that long a spawn time posted before. Someone may have reported it and I may have just missed it. But the fact is he DOES spawn. Just wait and don't give up. I spent 2.5 hours tapping #1 for my macro, and the second he was targeted I hit #2.
No following or chasing him, no falling, no nothing. Just hanging there in the sky and immediately his icon appears in my bag. I freaked!

I am absolutely happy to have him and amazed at my luck regarding how quickly..Best of luck to all.

For those of you on low-pop servers camping this alone late at night (like myself) worried about those long spawn timers - don't worry, if it passes you by the first time, it'll loop around to the same spot in another ~4 minutes if nobody else catches it at another spot. It took me 3 laps to position myself at just the right height to get it. I was right above the lantern post at (26.62, 59.92), a little higher than the tall building mentioned in the other comments. About a Great Worm From Beyond's length below the Great Worm From Beyond flying above me.

Do not listen to these coords. He does not always spawn at 28/55. I waited 2 hours and he spawned well away from this area heading towards the gate. I was able to get ahead of him and he despawned before reaching me. I'm never doing this again.

If you are not using any add-ons I created a macro you can spam. It detect if the mob is in range. If it is, it will play the Alliance victory sound from the battleground and yell to others who might want the mount too :)

Successfully captured Ivory Cloud Serpent with War Mode on using the macro by hiimkoko.

Why was War Mode safe?
I joined a large cluster of the opposite faction hovering at Great Worm From Beyond height at 26.15, 55.43. I figured no one can attack and fly. With so many stacked nameplates it was probably hard to see my enemy nameplate. And the group was too high for anyone to cast Net-o-Matic 5000 from the ground -- this dismounts players from flying mounts in War Mode. Multiple players of both factions can get the Ivory Cloud Serpent by casting the Zan-Tien Lasso.

Why was the group camping one spot?
Maybe because the Great Worm From Beyond NPC’s will zap you on and off with Great Worm's Foul Stench whether you’re flying or hovering. This spell inflicts Shadow damage and reduces flight speed significantly (up to 90%). When Ivory Cloud Serpent spawns you only have seconds to cast the Zan-Tien Lasso. There is no time for a chase. What else? It’s hard to fly the spawn route shown on a small map on another screen. Likely Ivory Cloud Serpent has a faster flying speed than our mounts.

Here's what happens using hiimkoko’s targeting macro:

The macro will read “Invalid Target” in red at the top of the screen. You could be hitting the macro for an hour or more.
"Invalid Target" changes to "Out of Range".
You'll probably see Ivory Cloud Serpent materialize now. It's ivory with pale mauve. The Ivory Cloud Serpent was flying toward the group at the same height. It flew counterclockwise, heading toward great wall.
Do not move or the cast of the Zan-Tien Lasso will stop. Don't chase it. No time.
You have only seconds now. Hit the macro and a gray bar will show the Zan-Tien Lasso cast. Don’t move. (I moved the mouse accidently and the cast bar stopped. I hit the macro key again and the gray cast bar filled in seconds.) Got a message on screen saying I'd captured the Ivory Cloud Serpent.
The stack count for Zan-Tien Lasso changes from 1 to 0.
The mount icon is your bag. Click. Go to your mount tab.

Check the flight path of Ivory Cloud Serpent (the NPC beast, not the mount):

Check the map at https://www.wowhead.com/npc=163042/ivory-cloud-serpent. The Ivory Cloud Serpent flies counter-clockwise.
The spawn spot 26.15, 55.43 is just to the west of a circle of Zan-Tien huts and aligns with the main gate of the wall.

About the macro

I was having doubts about the “Invalid Target” message. So I opened the macro tab while hovering in mid-air. The macro includes lines for "stop macro" and "clear target". “Clear target” is important if you’re checking out other players while you wait or your target becomes a Great Worm From Beyond when you’re zapped.
I changed the line:"stopmacro " to "/stopmacro" because I realized I was broadcasting "channeling:Catching" on local defense chat when I hit the macro hotkey.

got it today, its flying quite fast and if you have the worms debuff its impossible to follow. I gave up on follow but waited for the serpent to cross back on its route and was then able to capture. No challengers around luckily

Didn't see it mentioned anywhere else here, but Mogu Assaults only happen on the Western-half of the map. If the active invasion is on the Eastern half then (as others have alluded to) it likely won't spawn.

got it - camped at 27,55 - height was somewhat below the nasty great worms but above where alari (name?) flies, sort of between the two for height

i think the spawn point can vary a bit - with me it seemed to spawn a tad to the SE of where i was but came towards me

i had myself targeted and kept spamming my macro button every few secs (/tar ivory cloud serpent /use Zan-Tien Lasso)
make sure you have the lasso in one of your bags !
when ivory popped then when i hit my macro instead of saying invalid target it suddenly said target out of range (for a few secs)

you are bound to get a stack of slow from the worms on you so just accept that

Caught this a few weeks back, forgot that I had grabbed the shadowplay from when it happened.

For those that are lazy like me and don't feel like camping this mob, please note that at least one spawn per month can be predicted exactly, and very probably two.

When the Mogu invasion first starts, every rarespawn in the zone seems to come up, including the Ivory Cloud Serpent. I noticed this a month ago when I entered the zone shortly after it rolled over from Mantid to Mogu on Friday night, just in time to miss it that time around.

I waited four weeks until the next Mantid to Mogu rollover, and got in position a few minutes before the reset. Sure enough, as soon as the event started, the four of us camping the spawn location had a shiny new serpent in our bags.

I haven't tested this for weeks when the Mogu invasion starts as the Vale's lesser assault, but I would bet that it works then too. I just can't be online at 11AM on Tuesdays, and it's a crapshoot whether or not maintenance will interfere with it.

I got this on Stormrage this evening. I can confirm I saw it at 1.43am then I got it at about 8.40am. I missed the first cast at 26, 55 so I flew real fast to the top of the gate where the bells are. Someone mentioned it seems to pause at the end of the gate( left side) which it did, so I casted while landed on the roof and it was in my bag. Too easy!

Took me 350 kills to get the lasso, and an hour and 30 mins for the serpent to spawn. He's a very smol speedy boi, so have a macro at the ready. Tried to be in a group for this but other people dont like to wait for others to click so I would suggest doing it on your own on a dead server. He also spawns pretty high, below some mogu ruins. Just be ready and try to chase him!

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I just caught mine before the reset yesterday (7/28/2020). The method I used to camp for the Cloud Serpent was to sit on the roof of the giant gates, right in the middle. The Cloud Serpent will fly by right in front of you, making it extremely easy to catch him, as you should have no debuffs from the worms. You want to be as far forward on the gate as you can without falling off if you are relying on a NPC scanner addon to pick him up and alert you, as he is a bit out from the gate when he flies by, so if you are sitting in the center of the roof, it wont pick him up, or at least mine didn't. Luckily I was actively looking at the screen when he zoomed by, so I was able to pursue and capture just in time for the server reset, which happened 10 mins later. Hope this helps. Happy Hunting.

If you're thinking this mount may be too difficult to acquire, or you might mess up or not catch it STOP! I almost didn't try because I had never messed with macros or mount farming like this before. I almost psyched myself out of this beautiful mount. I promise you can get it!
This mount is extremely easy to get, the hardest part is waiting.

Here is exactly what I did to get this mount, everything (even farming for the lasso) took just under 2 hours.

DURING THE MOGU ASSAULT ONLY IS THIS POSSIBLE!

I farmed for Zan-Tien Lasso at the little terrace near Whitepetal Lake (about 39.01, 41.98). The lasso (needed for obtaining the mount) has the highest chance of dropping from Zan-Tien Raider, Zan-Tien Caller, Baruk Protector, and Zan-Tien Subjugator all of which spawn in high numbers along this terrace. After farming the area for a little under 10 minutes, I got the lasso.

I read a bunch of different comments and asked a handful of different people who already had the mount to see what the consensus was for the best spot to sit and wait. This is the best evidence I've found and is what worked for me:

Location: (26, 55) It's okay if you're off by a couple numbers, so long as you're somewhere in this vicinity. Stay as close to these numbers as you can. Ignore the people around you, trust your gut and stay put.

Height: I've seen a couple different inputs on height mattering. All I can tell you is that this is the height that worked for me. I tried to make my camera as horizontal/parallel to my character as possible, and then flew high enough to where I was about equal height to the gate in the distance. YOU WILL BE GETTING THE GREAT WORM FROM BEYOND DEBUFF THE ENTIRE TIME, IT'S OKAY! It will stack and disappear a ton of times on you, but it doesn't matter at all because with this location you should not have to fly or move at ALL to catch the Ivory Cloud Serpent. You will be pretty close to the worms, it's almost unsettling.

Direction: I've also seen a few debates on which way you should face and whether or not it matters. If you want to actually see the serpent race across your screen, you'll want to face toward the mountain peaks in the distance with what looks like cobblestone going up the front. The Serpent moves incredibly fast, so chasing it isn't an option. If you set yourself up right, you won't have to worry about moving or clicking, the macro does everything for you. Trust it.

Macro: I used a pretty common macro that you can find pasted everywhere in the comments here.

This macro scans the area around you for the Serpent and tries to cast the lasso on it. While you're pressing it, the red text should say "Invalid Target." Once the serpent spawns, the text will change to "Out of Range" and your character should make a comment about being too far away. DON'T MOVE, STAY CALM, and PRESS THE MACRO UNTIL YOU SEE THE CHANNELING BAR SHOW UP. Once the first person targets the serpent he stops in midair and stands still, you will have only a few seconds to channel your lasso. Again, don't click or move - just press your macro and it will do everything for you.

I had this bound on my X key. I literally pressed this button every second for an hour and 40 minutes. I scrolled articles and read different things on my phone while pressing this key literally every second. Was it too often? I don't know. All I know is that when my character said "It's out of range" and I saw that serpent streak across my screen and break the sound barrier my heart skipped a beat. The Channeling animation happened soon after, and the whole process took about 2 seconds. An hour and 40 minutes of waiting for a whole event that lasted 2 seconds. It was worth it.

Waited about 15 seconds... showed up, 2 people camped, I said "this must be the spot" and as soon as I clicked the macro, it caught it. By fluke spawned as soon as I clicked the button.

Lasso though, hours... probably 5 in total. Everything I read said that it drops regardless where the invasion is, but I'm calling BS on that. Spent 4-5 hours total farming it at the staircase. Then when the attack was in that area (West not East) I got the lasso after 4 kills. Went straight over and got the serpent.

I camped the spawn point two different times for 5 hours and he never spawned in that time frame. (yes, during Mogu invasion). I finally just now got him after waiting for 4 hours and 20 minutes. I wanted to post this because there is a ton of comments about ~2 hour spawn times, but obviously it can be much higher than that.

Got it after 1 hour of camping - which is lucky. But here are some points of advice which allowed me to get it and not the people in the raid group that were also camping (sorry for them btw):

1. Use NPC scanner and add 163042 as a custom. It will not show the name or location of the npc in the addon yet it will trigger when the sepent spawns. No need to push macros
2. Be fast at flying off! If you left the keyboard you will have little chance of catching up
3. Don't camp where the other people gather stacks from the great worms. I camped waaay up high. the good thing of people camping at the mentioned spot at great worm height is you have a spot in the air where you can determine your location from. I found a sweet spot where great worms would pass under me and they would never ever hit me. It's okay if this takes a while because you camp for a while anyways. so if worms hit you with their debuff press space to fly a little higher. If they haven't hit you for a while press x to fly a bit lower. do this until you find a spot. a few feet off doesn't matter. the spawn was as mentioned in other posts at worm height over the pathway - ish. use the coordinates other people mentioned.
4. you will have 0 stacks when you start, fly directly at it, fly a little past is on it's way and then stand still and start channeling. I could not channel while moving! Neither by use of any macro nor by using the item itself. moving canceled the cast. The serpent will fly south and then clockwise around the map. you can kinda make its flightpath out on the map on this wikipage: Ivory Cloud Serpent you can start channeling when you have caught up to it.

5. Try and stay inside the circle that is his flightpath. I went out a little and got out of the invasion phasing so I lost it completely. I caught up to it at the western great gate, then figured out that the lasso won't channel if I move. then a serpent hit me twice and I caught up to it at the northern great gate - and I managed to complete the channel. It's not a superlong channel but you have to be at it or at best slightly in front of it when you start it. being behind it might cause it to break the channel.

Noone of the other 10 guys that I saw camping was anywhere in sight. they had 11 stacks anyways.

Today i've got this mount and somehow maybe my experience might be helpful to someone?

Around 8:17 AM i've noticed how this serpent spawned and fly on its route, but i was too high unfortunately so i missed him, already thought that i have to wait 2 more hrs, as i have no clue when or where he despawns. At least after this failed attempt i managed to fix height at which i was hovering, around the same level as gates and pretty much all worms were a bit higher. I was reading comments here disappointed and then i notice how some big and fast model appears from behind and managed cast lasso from 30 yrds and cast finished succesfully. Important that he appeared in front of me at 8:24, which is 7 minutes past his spawn, so there's a chance if you missed him like i did

I've had the Lasso for about 2 months and never checked what it was for.

Today I found out so i decided to use the same spot everyone says - 25.60, 58.10 - same height as the gate facing west

It spawned once at 1pm, then again at 3:01pm, then about 5:20pm.

The first time it zoomed off east, the second two it went in the west direction. My attention failed me twice. I reccomend putting target on minimap so you can tell which direction he's going quickly.

If you have waited >2 hours then try and keep your debuffs low as you'll probably be chasing him, but you can cut him off fairly easily - he follows the map border pretty much.

I was able to chase with 3 stacks. Oh and yes use the macro

From my personal experience, the spawn timer is a reliable 2 hours to the second. I've seen accounts ranging from 1.5-5 hours, but in my 3 missed attempts, it was 2 hours on the nose between spawns every single time.

The focus REALLY helped, mostly to wake me up but also to keep him on my map.

I was camping at 24.05 58.82 just low enough to have the worms turn me purple as they passed overhead but not enough to debuff me. This let me follow Ivory southwest after it spawned and catch it as it went over the plaza of the gate.

I just got it tonight. Here is how I had everything set up if anyone is still trying to get this mount.

Location: I was at /way 26, 55 (Found in these comments)

Height: I was exactly as high as the top of the gate if you look towards the west, and was almost even with the right side of the gate

I was facing towards the gate spamming the macro when I heard my character say something along the lines of "too far away". I looked around and he was flying towards the gate from inside the zone, but was past the left side of the gate, so too far for me to reach. I waited a few minutes in the same spot, still spamming the macro, when I hear my character say "too far away" again. I turned around and he was once again flying towards the gate from inside the zone, but was almost flying right at me, hit the macro a few times until the cast bar showed up and now I've got a new shiny mount. Hopefully this info helps someone.

i seriously doubt you got this far, if like me, you didn't until it was too late..or was it? in my case, waited 5 hours at everyones posted coordinate "secret spawn spots galore," watched multiple videos, etc. all i got was a 5 hour of insanity camp session i quit after 5 hours. Later that night i wasted 2 more hours on the roof of the gate since i didn't find anyone at the spawn location(s)...eventually i returned though: here is what i found: a bunch of people too high all facing the wrong way. If like me, your graphics settings were too low the first time you "saw" it..than why the hell didn't anyone, anywhere ever think to mention to check the view distance settings? so that's your third problem possible idk. at any rate, i am not running obs with under 10fps while you all kick and laugh, etc. because i can't see half the graphics and i saw the other half too late and im still better than half of you r friend list when they are not on drugs so i digress..but at the end of day "he came in from the east, with the sun in your eye, i cursed her one time, and rode on ahead" is a lie because he comes in slow and low from the west, to the south - confirmed, with a 5 hour delay i may be "incorrect" with because our backs were turned - after i upgraded my view distance, etc. and watched too many useless videos - they all lied/lie/mislead & seemingly post a lot of disinfo to keep this mount off the realm system imo

950 kills still no lasso, what really sadden me the most are the 3 kill for ahn the loyal to get the mount, 8 for ha-li and 21 for houndlord ren, but lasso still missing. hoping typing here will bring me luck, i ll update when i finally drop it

This sounds tricky and time-consuming from the comments here, but it's not necessarily so.

I literally learned about this mount at most 2 hours ago, read the comments here, went to kill maybe 20 Shadowwalkers before I got the lasso, created the macro and went to the waypoint, and kept spamming the macro, for max 30 minutes. Then the serpent spawned and I failed to catch it, so I followed it all around the vale, trying several times without success, until at last I managed to intercept it and catch it.

Got it today, whole process took about 2 hours top. First I've tried to farm Zan-Tien Lasso before unlocking the assaults - no luck, then after unlocking the Mogu Assault I got it after three kills.
Then I followed the instructions in the comment here Ivory Cloud Serpent#comments:id=3221222. Waited around 50 minutes spamming macro and boom, here it is.

I waited a good 3 hours for him to spawn tonight. Two of us tagged him. When the other player completed the tame, mine became invalid. So only one can get the mount now.

Edit to add: I sent a couple of other characters to camp for him, one on Dalaran (a busy realm) with the lasso, and one on Barthilas on my second account, who did not have the mount. The Barthilas character got there first, immediately saw him at the gate, and invited the Dalaran character. The Dalaran character was in the process of returning to the present phase and took a few moments to get there. A moment later he flew by the gate again. She chased him down and lasso'd him.

I suspect he may be circling for a while on a realm where no one is camping his spawn point.

Got him early this morning. Last night stumbled upon the lasso after 22 kills, camped for an hour or so with some guy, logged in early this morning and there it was, flying quite high, but reacted quickly enough to tame her on same coords, more or less, that are posted here. Gl you all

Just acquired my wonderful new serpent in patch 9.2! Have had the lasso since a week or two into invasions when the content was current and after joining groups on and off at the time with no luck I had marked the mount off as something I'd never obtain. I decided to check up on it again however after getting back into the game after taking a break for most of Shadowlands and made use of this wonderful comment (Thank you so much OP!):

I can confirm this still works as of 9.2 and worked AMAZINGLY - I tried to align myself with the screenshots provided and I was nearly level with The Ivory Cloud Serpent (only a little bit above it) as it spawned in a short distance ahead of me. As the comment said, it initially is out of range, but is heading towards the gate when it spawns in and will come into range so you can stay in place and use your macro as it gets closer.

I had my in game stopwatch going a few minutes after getting set up and it spawned at roughly 2 hours and 46 minutes. I am unsure of when the previous spawn was, so the overall time since the previous spawn could have been longer. I'd definitely suggest being ready for a long wait just in case it leans on the longer side - and don't give up! I also had my macro on two separate keys to allow me to switch hands/fingers to avoid cramping which helped immensely, especially when I was reaching the two hour mark.

Another thing to note is that you'll also hear the crack/whip of a lasso once the cast has successfully started, so you know you're good to go when you hear it and see your cast bar going!

9.2.7 - Works perfectly fine, Lasso dropped after 2 minutes and the Ivory Cloud Serpent was already up, used my Lasso and got the Mount in my inventory.

I just got this mount. I picked up the lasso a couple of months ago and couldn't be bothered to come back for some time. Today I saw the Mogu assault was on. Popped over to Pandaria. Made sure the lasso was on my tool bar. Flew up and stood on the big gate with three bells to the West. Looked up and the rare was at that second flying at me. Targetted and popped the lasso. Easy. Its so pretty

I had my Zan-Tien Lasso drop last week and have been awaiting a Mogu invasion to pop up so Ivory Cloud Serpent would spawn.

A Little Tip I've Not Seen Yet On Here!
If you know a Mogu invasion is due, wait till the current invasion is almost over and go to the spawn location (/way 26.8, 55.1)
As soon as it pops, Ivory Cloud Serpent will spawn straight away - no needing to wait.

This is what I did today, spammed my macro as soon as the previous invasion was <1minute and as soon as it swapped to the Mogu Invasion - The serpent spawned, and I captured her. So much easier than waiting around and spamming macros for hours waiting for a spawn.

Hopefully this helps make someone's day a little easier!

I followed everyone else's posts and set up camp at /way 26 55 in Vale of eternal blossoms. I faced the southeast direction, flying up high enough to be even with the top of the gate of the setting sun. I got zapped with 11 stacks of the wyrm debuff but I never got attacked. I pressed my macro once every .5-1 seconds for almost 2 hours while I watched youtube lol.

I will say I HEARD the loud ass battleground victory noise before the serpent came into view. It took 2 seconds to cast and in that time he went from out of view to stopping just shortly after passing me before slowly moving forward for a few seconds and disappearing. I did NOT have to move from my position for the lasso to work, no moving at all. He came at me from southeast-east direction heading straight for the gate of the setting sun. I waited for about 2 hours (I don't know when he was last killed, no one answered in general chat) before the macro sounded off.

There seems to be a bit of variance in exactly the height that the Ivory Serpent spawns, and what direction it begins moving.
What happened in my case: I was about a few yards below the height of the lowest Great Worm that was spawning in. This was too high. But I was super worried about being too low. For a frame of reference, it is my opinion that the correct height is about one two Grand Yaks below where the Great Worms are flying. Another note, the Ivory Serpent began flying toward the gate, which I thought was odd, because the route shows that the serpent should fly towards the south east first, and not literally b-line toward the main gate.

After the other player lasso'd the mount, I was able to cast on it as it was stationary, and still had about 3 seconds before it despawned.

Sharding isn't helping since I've watched various worms shift in and out right near me for the past 2 hours. Then again everything I farm in-game has been bad luck anyway.

Edit: So I waited about 3 hours before giving up because I didn't have time to sit in one spot the entire day waiting for (what I feel is) a less-than-mediocre mount. xD Good luck to those that do think it's worth the wait. This isn't my first attempt either but it'll probably be the last. Hopefully they make it so you can give the lasso to someone else.

Think I got lucky with this one?

Got the lasso, literally years ago and while cleaning out bags, I stumbled on it again.

So went and sat on the big gate at the west of the area on the south end of the gate and within 5 minutes look who shows up, clicked the item, and was done, all mine.

There was no one else there, no a soul, honestly if the zone is up pop over from time to time, head over to the big west gate, sit on top, hang about for 10 minutes, and if it flys by then great, if not, no loss.

Now time to kill the Sha of Anger for the billionth time to try for the next Serpent. XD

DRAGON FLIGHT UPDATE
Saw him flying around and I was aware it drops a mount so got time to get here find how to farm took me about 20-25 min and 214 Mogu kills, WM ON no competition on QuelThalas which is high populated. This mount is pretty easy to get in DF I even got time to check the guide, get the item and look for the rare.
BTW it is a bit smaller than you might think and flies pretty fast but it is quite easy to catch, just look where he's heading go a ahead a bit and use the item

Just got this guy on a dead RP realm, if anyone else is like me, the spawn time is reduced to about 15 to 20 mins if no one claims the mount during its route. Thank goodness because it took me like 6 attempts to be at right place and get the cast off. If your farming on a dead server with no cross realm and miss it, stick around, it will be back shortly =)

This is absolutely and completely WRONG. This is INCORRECT information, FAKE NEWS! - and if you are waiting for "that" invasion and wondering why you never, ever, ever, EVER see it - it is because....... It doesn't exist. The invasion you are in fact waiting for is called:

ASSAULT: THE WARRING CLANS.

NOT The Mogu Invasion, not the Super Mogu Dance Club, Not the Great Mogu Supermarket Ransacking, not the Stupendous Mogu Tennis Tournament, not ANYTHING with the word: "MOGU" in it. People need to stop saying this and start using the actual, factual correct and accurate name of this invasion which again is called: ASSAULT: THE WARRING CLANS.

During this Assault, which is called: ASSAULT: THE WARRING CLANS - there are 2 major mount spawns:

The Ivory Cloud Serpent (spawns at 27, 55) and Ha-Li (34, 34). I have heard the Ivory Cloud Serpent is now a 30 minute timer? Not sure about Ha-Li.

EDIT: Just caught this at 5:PM(ish). I actually missed the spawn of it - I was hovering next to everyone else but it spawned higher and farther out then they were (I also guess they were all AFK because not a single person moved when it spawned). But I did manage to pace it all around half the zone and finally was able to catch up and capture it between the Mogu'shan Palace and the Shrine of Seven Stars. it cuts across right between them - and you can wait right there. The spawn timer was over 30 minutes because I actually got up and walked the dogs and came back and it still didn't spawn so I'm thinking the spawn timer was closer to an hour (from the time I started from the time it spawned).

Once you capture it - it will slow down for about 30 seconds and then disappear. I actually went back to the place I was waiting originally and the same people were just sitting there - no one moved at all so they're either bots or they were all AFK. Sucks for them. Camping Ha-Li now.

FYI

...and remember - the name of the invasion is called: ASSAULT: THE WARRING CLANS
