I have killed hundreds of things including water elementals and yet to see this recipe. Has anyone found it yet? And what mob did it drop off of? Or is it not in the game yet even though it is listed in the game files?

Dropped for me from a summon in Mardivas Labratory, using a lesser fire and greater water essence.

Thanks very much for this information guys. Can you confirm that by doing this you spawned the elemental Xue which you killed to get this technique. That is the elemental which is supposed to spawn when you activate a lesser fire crystal and a greater water crystal according to the achievement:

Also could you be a little more clear about how to spawn him. Would I need to have 1 Strange Mineralized Water to activate the greater water crystal and 1 Strange Volcanic Rock to activate the lesser fire crystal in order to spawn the elemental.

Update: I just killed Xue doing exactly what I said in my post but the technique did not drop, it either doesn't drop from him or the drop rate isn't 100%.

Update 2: I've killed Xue twice & Omus once now and still haven't gotten the technique, sounds like it definitely drops from these 2 given what people are saying, & possibly others, just not 100% for Scribes.

Been farming this recipe for months, both Omus and Xue, and no drop yet.

Does this just have a super low drop rate or do you need a minimum inscription level? I'm at Zandalari Inscription 151 (out of 175).

Dropped for me tonight from Xue (Inscription max level).

Finally no more reason to visit this place.

Are the NPCs phased or could you just wait for someone to spawn it?

I have farmed for this technique nearly every week for months on my Scribe, who is a Death Knight.

~~If you are not a Mage, and have gotten this technique to drop, please post a reply. If I ever get it to drop for my non-Mage DK, I'll let you folks know.~~

EDIT: Another post says it drops for non-mages, so I guess I'll keep going back. :P

LAST EDIT: Three months after this post, probably six months of grinding it weekly, and finally just today I got this technique to drop for my Death Knight Scribe. Did Omus (Lesser Water + Greater Fire) every time. Got the mog sword three times while working on it.
