Tailors that are level 120 with 150 Skill Points in Battle for Azeroth Tailoring can unlock a special Tools of the Trade questline, rewarding Synchronous Thread. Pick up the Tailoring quest starting from Pin'jin the Patient in Zuldazar or Daniel Brineweaver in Boralus.

Upon completing the quest, you are awarded with Pattern: Synchronous Thread. To craft this item, you need:

Synchronous Thread Benefits
The Synchronous Thread Tailoring Tools of the Trade item lets you gather more cloth, resurrect outside, and purchase hard-to-find recipes.

When outdoors in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, you get the Temporal Recall buff: Upon taking lethal damage, rewind time to resurrect while outdoors in Kul Tiras or Zandalar.
Sometimes when closing a rift outdoors, you'll get a Chronal Cache of Cloth. This can yield individual, as well as bolts, of cloth from any expansion, including rare BoP cloth like Celestial Cloth.
There is a very small chance a Time-Lost Trader appears, who sells the following hard-to-find patterns for Embroidered Deep Sea Satin.

Well as someone who has all of those patterns collected over the years... I don't think this is worth making. Sure the extra cloth might be nice but eh, not really worth it for me.

Edit since I can't reply to the equally useful comment under me:
You have no use for this item if you already have the patterns. This isn't useless information. I talked to many tailoring friends who are facing the same dilemma. So if you come here to see what the item does, and then see that other than patters that you already have you really have no use for this, it's hardly useless to inform other similar tailors to not waste materials/effort.

I present to you Tailoring Questline in BFA 8.1.5. You have to do 11 Quests after finish chain you will be able to do Synchronous Thread. To start This chain you need to have profesion on maximum.

The Time Rift have multiple spawn points around Kul'tiras and Zandalar, and they are all fixed. The respawn time is roughly 10 minutes and you can interact every time it spawns. Also a minimap indicator is placed for an active Time Rift. You need the Synchronous Thread to interact with it.

After closing a Time Rift, you can:

- Get a Chronal Cache of Cloth, which containts silks, bolts and special reagents like Dreamcloth.
- Spawn a Time-Lost Trader that trades Embroidered Deep Sea Satin for old recipes like Pattern: Belt of the Archmage or Pattern: Robes of Arcana.
- Spawn an unfriendly NPC that yields cloth and grey items on kill.
- Get a buff, like Chronal Acceleration that increses run speed by 30% while outdoors, or Temporal Recall, that prevents you from getting killed from a fatal blow and restores your health to 100%.

Warning: If you're not a tank or have a tank friend it's going to take you a long time to complete this when going for the Essence of the Regal Loa.. Since most tanks are not tailors, they only show up long enough to kill Alun'za then leave making you wait a long time for a new tank, just for him to leave when he sees that Alun'za is dead. All these items for all professions should have dropped off final bosses.

is there a way to just queue up to the bosses that drop the essences instead of running the entire dungeon? ive been trying dungeon finder and there is nobody grouping for those 4 dungeons!

I stuck around a synchronous portal until it respawned.. second time closing it didn't give me anything: no mob, no vendor, no cache

My thinking is maybe the closings aren't guaranteed to give anything, or that you can only mend each portal once per day?

I have found that the most useful purpose for this tool is to buy old world tailoring patterns.

That being said, if you hoped this item would help you collect cloth more rapidly... that is not the case.

Many times I either get the Trader (patterns), a Chronal Anomaly (often has given 2x Tidespray Linnen, and sometimes even nothing).

*EDIT* The times I thought I was receiving nothing at all, I was actually receiving a handy buff, next time I earn the buff I will edit again with the specific effects granted.

So... I'm a little confused... Why do i want this? Why am i spending time farming this item? I have zero interest in spending all my currently too hard to farm materials on old useless green and blue boe items... and people are saying it doesn't really increase cloth gain since it only gives you old stuff. So what is the allure here? People cant really be spending all this time and expulsum on an item to get the death prevention right?

Synchronous Thread is required to access Time Rifts around Zandalar and Kul'tiras. It is gained via the recipe in the Tools of the Trade quest line for Tailoring which requires 150 in Kul Tiran Tailoring to unlock it.

First and foremost unlike other profession tools you have to actually click the item in your bag to interact with the time rift, then it will channel for 1-2 sec.
Active Time Rifts will show up as a big yellow dot on your mini map, but look like swirling yellow vortexes similar to during the quest line.

You can receive Chronal Cache of Cloth which gives some cloth from a random expansion. It can summon a Chronal Anomaly which gives you a grey item worth a few gold. It can also summon a Time-Lost Trader which sells rare old world tailoring recipes for between 25-150 Embroidered Deep Sea Satin depending on the quality of the item.
Personally, I have found they have a 2-5min respawn timer. I haven't found there to be any diminishing returns farming them, I had the vendor appear at 2 out of 7 rifts.

Here is a list of locations I have found time rifts thus far and I will endeavor to keep updating it.
I have posted some screenshots which will help with locating them.

For what it's worth, I compiled a list of what I believe to be all of the coordinates in this thread, and a few of my own.
I removed duplicates and the descriptions as well, so it should be fairly clean. If its active, you will see it on the minimap so there should be no need to add any info to the waypoint description.

In case you are not sure how to import a list into TomTom:
- get the addon called Paste. (allowing you to paste multiple lines into chat)
- Once you have Paste (and TomTom of course) installed and are in-game:
type: /paste show into chat to bring up the control box for paste, and copy/paste this list into the addon window.
- Hit Paste or Paste & Close, and all the waypoints will be imported at once.

This is possibly the most useless and -somewhat insulting- addition to tradeskills. It really makes no sense, the rewards are almost nothing and the time and effort put .... well this is about like- (Bloodtotem Saddle Blanket) -ish.... how much blizzard thinks of us crafters.

I followed coordinates from other people, and from what i noticed is not all rifts are up at the same time and it's seems like they might switch up daily. but the rifts that are up continue to respawn every 7-8 min.

I camped one spot for a little over an hour and this is what i got

I've done about 10 of these over the last few days(since I got the item) and I've literally gotten nothing. I've had a vendor once that gives old recipe's, a mob spawn once who dropped a grey, and 8 times nothing happened, no cloth, no chest, nothing. Not really sure what the use of this trash item is other than a waste of expulsom.

DO NOT waste your time on this. The items sold by the Vendor are ALL Vanilla patterns, I did not research enough to see the Patterns after creating 1200+ Embroidered Deepsea Satin's . . .

Wow, a lot of the comments here seem to be focusing solely on the time rifts and overlooking the fact that this item significantly increases the amount of Tidespray Linen, Deep Sea Satin, and Gilded Seaweave dropped by NPCs. I believe the 'cost' of this item is based on the passive effect alone, with the time rifts being a small additional bonus.

I really like this item, it's a lot of fun and who doesn't love random buffs? Plus, being able to purchase patterns that had previously been removed from the game is a major win bonus for completionists/collectors.

Fun tidbit is that the "upon taking lethal damage" doesn't include "fall damage". At least if you go from 100-0 in mechagon.
