*PLEASE NOTE:* As of late in Legion (the pre-patch for Battle for Azeroth, patch 8.0) This information is no longer valid, since Artifact Power gains which are currently in the live version of the game no longer work anything like they did during Legion. The neck Artifact Power is used only for the neck, and the neck piece is the same for all specs on a toon (there aren't different necks or different Artifact items for different specs on a character; For example, as with most gear now, a Monk's Heart of Azeroth has Agility and Intellect, and depending on your current spec one of those will be greyed out).

I am only leaving my original comment up since it was, at one point, valid and pertinent- and because when I'm trying to remember how things used to work in the game, comments like these can be helpful to look back on.

ORIGINAL COMMENT:
Don't forget that this and the other items like it that add Artifact Power only add the AP to your currently equipped artifact. The Artifact Power doesn't go in to a "bank" of some kind, and the Artifact Weapons do not share Artifact Power.

There are also a handful of quests that directly reward you with Artifact Power. If you're questing in a dps spec, but want to have that Artifact Power rewarded to your healing weapon, simply exit the quest completion frame, switch to your healing spec, and then open the frame again and complete the quest.

You may want to hold on to items like this one, that add a decent amount of AP, so as to take up just one slot instead of several slots with the ones that give 10 or 20 AP, so that when you acquire your off-spec artifact you can grab a couple of skills on it immediately.

Mostly this comment is just to remind folks that they only give the AP to your currently equipped artifact, as stated in the tooltip. I wanted to reiterate that, so that you don't make the same mistake I did and spread your AP around to different weapons.

This mistake can be quite painful when the required amount of AP jumps from the ~1,000 range to the ~6,800 range, if you haven't focused your AP into one weapon.

The gold value of former AP tokens was determined by the following:
Uncommon quality (green): 10 gold
Rare quality (blue): 25 gold
Epic quality (purple): 100 gold

The amount of AP in each token didn't matter, just the quality of the token itself.
Some tokens (such as those awarded from the Class Hall quests) do not follow this formula.

Edit: All AP tokens are now gray trash items.
