They wouldn't just let us walk around with infinite voidform for ten minutes straight with THAT going, right? I mean, come on. That would just be... insane.

One of the most fun items I've ever used. Trails of bodies through Suramar. Even my Mindbender felt like a god.

No one shall stop us. Not even N'Zoth! Maybe the duration though... that might.

EDIT: As of patch 7.1.5 it only gives you 10 insanity per second as opposed to stopping the drain.

It should be noted that outside of combat your insanity will still drain super slowly, but it wont drain while in voidform while in combat. You are basically a god for 10 minutes, enjoy.

Using this makes you feel like an insane shadow god for 10 minutes. It's also fun to see the full visual effect of Voidform at 100 stacks, full tentacles waving around and all of that.

Some facts,
* It is consumed on use, so use it wisely.
* You can not use it in a dungeon, only while out in the world.
* As noted in another comment, your insanity does drain while out of combat.

The only thing I didn't test (since it was my first use of the potion after the hotfix), was whether the buff is removed on death. I'm assuming that it is.

Since your insanity doesn't drain, you eventually obtain 100 stacks (maximum) of Voidform, so your haste is increased by 100%. When the potion finally wears off, because your insanity drains so slowly out of combat, you will obtain 100 stacks of Lingering Insanity (provided you don't enter into Voidform again), increasing your haste by 100% for 1 minute.

Because of the way LI works, you can maintain some of the uberness past the 10 minute duration. You can allow LI to persist for its full minute duration, giving you effectively 11 minutes. If you have the Lingering Insanity talent, LI will persist for 8 seconds after you re-enter into Voidform, so you have those 8 seconds in Voidform to do as much damage as possible before it wears off and the benefit of the buff is finally gone.

I'd say the choice of whether or not to break those 100 stacks of LI determines on what you're doing at the time. If you're killing an elite rare, or a world boss, you might want to do that. If you're killing a bunch of mobs (farming, questing), having it for its full 1 minute duration will be a better use of that haste.

One of four items available by praying at the Shadow Well in the priest Class Order Hall. This is unlocked at level 105 after researching Altars of Blessing.

Vial of Dark Shadows
Void Sphere
Rune of Darkness
Swirling Void Potion

Praying at the Light Well will give you one of these four items instead:
Essence of the Naaru
Vial of Pure Light
Blessing of the Light
Essence of the Light

Consider this item and the golden trait:

your dots should theoretically do 1200% (additive) or 1445700% (multiplicative) more damage after 10 minutes (if there is no cap).

EDIT: Seems it's been hotfixed to work again. I haven't tried it yet but maybe someone who has can chime in.

So something interesting happened to me today. I think it's related to the fact that I changed my weapon while the buff was active. Basically I used the item, got into combat, and was dieing (I hadn't even popped voidform, pulled too many adds too quickly), so I used dispersion, switched to my fishing artifact for the swim speed bonus, and jumped in the water. As I continued swimming away and dotting I noticed my insanity was draining even though I still had the buff. After I dropped combat I re-equipped my dagger, and got in combat again. Well, my insanity kept draining anyway.

TLDR: So as far as I can tell, if you unequip your dagger while the buff is up it ceases to work.

Just putting that out there for anyone who cares.

In 7.1 this potion is bugged. Insanity still drains in voidform/combat. Hopefully gets fixed.

As of 7.1.5, this has been changed. (and it is not in the patch notes btw)

It used to state that your insanity would not drain during the 10 minutes of the buff, now it just gives you 10 insanity per second for those 10 minutes.

I'm really bummed about this too! I had only recently gotten my SPriest xferred to my new server and started playing him, JUST got that part of my order hall completed a week ago, just got my first of these potions this morning... to find that it's not the same thing anymore.

I was really looking forward to some non-stop mayhem!
