This item drops from Seabound Mystic, not any other Seabound mobs. They seem to randomly cycle and are sometimes replaced by Seabound Soldier. If you don't see them up, wait until the turn of the hour and check back. Took a few attempts and ~40 kills to get the drop.

I spent a day and a half coming back every 1-2 hours, morning, noon and night and continued to just find Seabound Soldiers and Officers. I then tried realm hopping and succeeded.

Interestingly it was 8:30pm and with the first hop there was no change, but the 2nd hop actually hopped me back into my original realm and the mobs changed to Seabound Mystics and Anagogues. About 2 minutes had passed so over the course of 2 minutes, leaving my realm and returning changed the mob type.

Makes me wonder if it really has anything to do with time.

Parked on water near Seabound Reaver and logout and login from time to time.

They were sometimes Seabound soldiers / officers and sometimes Seabound mystics/ anagogues.
First time I've found mystics, there were only 4 of them. Server hopping didn't help.
Second time found more and on 5th got my drop (so total 9).
Just pure luck according to 8% chance.

Additional info for server hop. To hop host need to be in the same zone as yourself.

Either the respawn rate for Mystics has been changed or I was just exceptionally lucky today (9/7/2016). Got the Pure Spirit on probably my 20th kill. The fact that there were that many up and that they were respawning quickly makes me think that this has been fixed.

Edit: The time was about 8:30AM server time on Zul'jin.

for the last four days, i have haunted this place. I've gone all times of day and night, even setting alarms just to get up to check. And nothing. Not a single mystic anywhere. I've seen three different rotations of other mobs but they have yet to spawn any mystics. Am I missing something? I'm getting more than a little frustrated.

So ive found them via server hopping, I believe a quest chain in highmountain must effect these guys spawning
as on my server, none ever. this server, ive found over 30. No drop yet thoue.

Two days on my server Nesingwary and not a single Mystic has appeared. I have come at all different times. I tried server hopping and on a pvp server they were up. No one was around so I was able to kill and not be distrubed. After 75 kills I grew frustrated and wanted to go back to my pvp server. Still nothing up. I went back to server hopping and none up anywhere :(. This is terrible and for an item that is just cosmetic. I have all 3 other parts. None of them took me more then 20 kills to get and they were always up so that was super easy.

Definitely dropped by Seabound Mystic. I did notice during the 4 hours of farming this, that the placeholder for the Seabound Mystic is actually the Seabound Anagogue Seabound Anagogue not Seabound Soldier.

I realized after a while that there weren't as many up as when I started, and that they were re-spawning in the exact same places. You learn where to find them pretty quickly. Seabound Anagogue Seabound Anagogue spawn in their places, so kill those to get more Seabound Mystic to spawn.

In the off chance previous posts are correct as well about the Seabound Soldier, just keep in mind where the spawn points are that you see Seabound Mystic and kill anything in its place.
The only time I saw the Seabound Soldier where when the Seabound Officer Seabound Officer were also up. I killed the placeholder positions anyway for about an hour just testing the patterns, but no Mystics or Anagogue ever spawned.

They just showed for me, appearing to take the place of soldiers and officers.

Only thing that stands out this time is that it was raining.

I believe that every other time that I attempted to find them that it was not raining.

I tried all other tips in this thread.

I used the server hopper addon too and would definitely suggest using it. Just download it then keep clicking the "random" button until you get sent to a server that has the mystics up.

I farmed for about 2.5hrs with a guy from another server around 1am server time with no drop. Then today I logged back on and after server hopping about 12 times finally found a server with the mystics up.

First one I killed dropped the goods. I nearly cried with joy^^

Server time was approx 12pm
Server was Ragnaros

I was in a raid last night and a party today and have a suspicion that may have effected it because the system gave me a message that raid groups may not get the same rewards as party groups.

So maybe try not to get into a raid group if you server hop - but I can't say for certain.

Dont waist time like i did! I have spended 5+ hours runing around and killing monsters in that place, but they spam only at NIGHT TIME. As i was playing early in morning, started at 07:00, there was no single Seabound Mystic, i was waiting, killing other Seabounds around and there was no luck to get Seabounds Mystic spawn there. Im back now, around 23:00 and there is plenty of them, didnt even needed to kill a lot, i gues around 7, max 10 to get drop.

Recommend making a Macro "/target Seabound Mystic" that you can spam click while running on the main road going thru the zone/some other way, that way you save time trying to manually look for the spawn, as it will autotarget it for u

Should rename it Essence of Broken Spirit !

To get it...

1.Look for Seabound Mystic / Seabound Anaguoges at quest area....if yes goto 3. if no goto 2.

2. Open up Looking For Group tab. Search under Questing or Custom for other groups in Highmountain on different server. Join up. goto 1.

3. Kill Seabound Mystic until you get Essence of Broken..errr...Pure Spirit . Anaguoges and other mobs seem to share spawns. Took me about 30 kills plus killing whisps and other mobs to force Mystic spawns . Best done with a partner.

Server hopping does work but obviously you won't get credit in a raid group so if you do eventually find a realm where the Mystics/Anagogues are up engage one, then drop group. You'll stay in the phase with the proper mobs and can complete the quest solo at that point.

I think the thing that takes this quest item from "Stupid idea" to "Someone at Blizzard needs to answer for there crimes" is that at my Class Hall, the Mimiron hologram is bugged, and every time I go near it, it wigs out and says "Great! You have the parts!..." when I'm still missing this one.

If you are using the Server Hop mod it will NOT drop if you are in a raid group.

I just got mine, but it took over 100 kills and many days. The drop rate on this is so incredibly low as to be painful

This quest is completely ridiculous. Unless every server I hopped to had group set to raid, this item is stupidly RNG to the point I'm about to say to hell with it. Killed at least 100 of the mystics and nothing. Stupid that Blizz has to make this crap nearly impossible to get.

Server Hop no longer works; I engage a mob, leave raid but it sends me back to my server thus making this near impossible

Ok so here is how I finally did it.

1. Download the Server Hop add-on.
2. Find a server that has the Seabound Mystics up (Even if it's a raid).
3. Pull one of the Mystics and while you have aggro leave the raid/party.

You should stay in the realm and be able to farm the Mystics until you find it.

Make sure you also kill the Seabound Anagogues as they share spawn points with the Mystics.

I tried this before having the add-on but it would just phase me back into my own realm so it seems the add-on keeps you there somehow.

Checked back 3 hours in a row no difference in mobs.

I eventually did the server hop trick and when i found a server with the mystic mobs i entered combat properly with two of the mystics and then left the raid group so i would not be zoned back to my own server and still have a drop chance for the item.(quest items don't drop when in raid group).

Took 20 something kills but i finally got the drop.

This quest... this quest here... can die in a fire! Just this part alone is enough to drive a person mad. There's three sets of mobs you can get in the area, and only one seems to be the Mystics. And if you do get them, welcome to having an incredibly low drop rate. We're talking 30 mystics, no essence.

I'm sure everyone loves seeing hunters abusing the RDF system just to get their quest done. As if this class didn't get enough slack already?

Seems when the Necroliths (seemingly statue-like mobs - grey colour) are up that's when Mystics will be up as i have farmed mobs in the hope Mystics would spawn while Necroliths were not up and got nothing. Once the Necroliths were up probably killed about 30-40 Mystics and the item dropped. I would suggest teaming up with another hunter if at all poss. Hope this helps as I'm not sure how accurate it is

After spending hours of trying to obtain the Essence of Pure Spirit over a 10 day period
and reading the wowhead comments under this topic and "Seabound Mystic" topic and
the topic of "A New Invention", I have concluded some information I want to share.

The Seabound mobs come in pairs. There are three pairs.

Pair 1] Seabound Soldier & Seabound Officer
Pair 2] Seabound Reaver & Seabound Despoiler
Pair 3] Seabound Anagogues & Seabound Mystics

As far as "wait an hour and come back", that advice will eventually work, but if your realm
has the Soldier/Officer pair up, they can be up for 72 straight hours in a row. The same is
true for the Reaver/Despoiler pair. Instead you could say try back every few hours, then
maybe the Anagogues/Mystics pair will be up. I made it a habit to go there every time I
visited the Class Hall because it's such a short flight and a short ride to get to that area.

As far as killing a Seabound Soldier and having a Seabound Mystic appear in it's place is
incorrect. Only a Anagogue/Mystic will reappear where a Anagogue/Mystic was. Only a
Soldier/Officer will reappear where a Soldier/Officer was. Only a Reaver/Despoiler will
reappear where a Reaver/Despoiler was.

Your best chance is to join a premade group for a World Quest in Highmountain. Joining a
group in any other zone will not work (unless one or more players in that group just happen
to be in the Highmountain zone). Out of all the possible groups forming for World Quests,
the most likely will be "The Frozen King". This will be a raid group which means the Essence
of Pure Spirit will not drop while you are in the raid group.

I read where if you join a raid group and if the Anagogue/Mystic pair is up, aggro a Mystic
and leave the group while still aggroed. This should keep you phased into that realm as long
it should take to get the item. This is not true and it will not work. If you leave the group, even
while aggroed with a Mystic, the Mystic will change back to whatever mob pair is currently on
your realm.

Go the area where the Seabound mobs are located (Blind Marshlands). While in the custom
premade raid group, the mobs there will be one of the 3 pairs described above. If you do not
have the Anagogue/Mystic mobs showing, you need to leave that group and find another one
until eventually you see the mob pair Anagogue/Mystic up.

While in the raid group, wait for the party to dwindle down to 5 people or less. By this time the
premade group will most likely have been de-listed so there won't be any new players joining
the group. At some point, you will hopefully become the raid leader and can convert the raid to
a party. If not, see if you can get the raid leader to convert the raid to a party. Now that the raid
has been converted to a party the item can drop.

If everyone in the group except you leaves, you will be taken out of that realm and phased back
to your realm. Hopefully one or more of the 5 (or less) party members will be afk or disconnected.
If that's the case, you will have more time to hunt for the item.

I finally got the item today after using this technique. It was about the 8th group I joined and after
about 20 Mystic kills. Good luck, I hope this info helps you.

After 5 visits to the quest area, I finally arrived at the correct time in the "cycle" to get the Mystics. I got the quest item on my 16th kill. One note, the Mystics raise "Bones of the Fallen", three low health NPCs that attack you. If you kill the Mystic, these die - so don't waste time switching targets to bring them down.

This is the second part I'm on (got the Stormy Gland only, so far), and reading these comments makes me more disheartened than before the fact that I had to come here to figure out why after 30-45 of "hunting" Essence of Pure Spirit and/or the elusive "Seabound Mystic" I was still on this part of a ~~seemingly~~ should-be-simple quest. The drop rate and time-consuming factor are unnecessarily ~~difficult~~ pointless, Blizzard.

I gave up with this entire quest to be honest.

When I came to the zone the first time, there were mystics. I killed a bunch, then had to leave because life was calling. Either way, when I returned there were only Reavers and Despoilers. And that's been five days ago. Ever since I have been checking every hour to see if it would change. No luck. Tried server hopping, but whenever I aggroed a mystic and left the group, the dude would fade out and be replaced by a reaver or despoiler. Basically it just rotates, but the chance for Mystics is like... LOW. Very very low.

Right now I just occassionally check when I am in the neighbourhood, but haven't had any luck yet.

So, to every hunter. GOOD LUCK. If you get it, yay! You fought yourself through a horrible HORRIBLE quest. If you still haven't gotten it (like me), I hope you will soon.

I found mystics on a Wednesday at 8:40 server time on Wildhammer EU. The previous day I encountered only reavers.
It took me dozens of kills to get the item.

Got it on my second visit to the area, wasnt there at bed, but was there saturday morning, and so you would think i didnt have input? wrong:
heres very important information

1) shares spawn with Seabund Anagogue.
2) im a multiboxer, and when it dropped, it dropped from the same corpse for everyone (shared drop so GROUP UP!)
in addition to that, someone else outside the group got it and said GL friend. but grouping will help make sure veryone tags all the kill targets
3) mystics can spawn OUTSIDE the area blizzard has marked as the quest territory (but not by far, but 100 yards, so circle the outer edge too)
4) Took 16 kills (its random of course, but for me at least, the drop rate is equal to the other 3), what makes this one hard is the spawn rate
of the required mobs, Good luck fellow hunters.

I was having a really hard time with this quest, not seeing any Seabound Mystics (only other Seabound mobs) anywhere on the map where the quest sent me. Later on while on the quest The Tainted Marsh in the Blind Marshlands area in High Mountain I saw Seabound Mystics everywhere and got the Essence of Pure Spirit in about 15 kills. They were all over and kept spawning. Not sure if theyre always there and not at the other spot, or if they were part of my other quest but its worth checking:

After 4 days of waiting they finally spawned on my server. There are currently shambling corpses, the demon hound things and soldiers/officers spawned, none of these are mutually exclusive.

The only things spawned that i have not seen before are the Seabound Anagogues. So keep an eye out for these guys and mystics should be around.

So, had to kill like 12 of them to get the essence, but I got curious about the stuff around the swamp, especially the dormant wisp. When i got my essence i actually dragged the Mystic towards the wisp, clicked wisp, and let the wisp explode on the Mystic. After that I looted and got essence. It may be pure coincidence, but its worth trying at least once just to see.

Realm hopping is the key. I screwed around for four hours trying to get the right mob, realm hopped and had it in 10 minutes.

"essences of pure spirit" is a riddle.

There are two types of spirits that spawn in pairs: Anagogue/Mystic. Kill the Anagogue's until there is nothing but Mystics spawned = PURE SPIRIT. Then its ok to kill some Mystics and it will drop easy.

thanks for everyone that provided advice on how to do this portion of the quest!

i server hopped (through group finder) until i found a realm that had the required mob and started killing them; after about a dozen or so kills i was able to obtain the item.

fortunately when the group disbanded, the mobs remained (thank goodness)

good luck to everyone that is trying to finish this frustrating quest.

The first day I looked for these items, the Mystics didn't spawn while I was there. I waited around until the top of the hour and 10-15 minutes afterward - no Mystics. I went off and did other quests then came back at the top of the next hour for another 10-15 minutes - no Mystics. Left and came back the next day at the top of the hour - Mystics all over the place. A dozen or so Mystic kills (and lots of other associated mobs) later, I had the Essence.

This is a lesson in patience, I think. If they aren't up, try later or another day. They DO spawn, it's just a matter of right place, right time. Good luck!

That is what i did :
1. I joined a quest group at Highmountain area at another Realm-Server.
2. Bum poped the mystics in game ..i kiled 7 of them and got it !
3. Yeeeeaaaahh :-) no voodoo not 3 jumps infront and five back NOTHING NADA ZERO ! :-D

That's what i did and got it in less than 5 minutes..:
1. I found a Quest group in Highmountain area at another realm-server than mine ad i joined it.
2. Boom ! Apeared the mobls to kill.
3. Killed the 7th of them and got it !

NO Voodoo Addons ,Jumps frond and back, no hours waiting, NADA, NIENTE, ZERO, ZIP ! Enjoy ! :-D

Today marks the 10th anniversary that I started playing Wow. I never commented on anything here because usually all the information is already available that is until I ran into this quest. F'ing hell, what a nightmare. The only way I got it done was using server hop. The moment I used it I got the stupid essence in 5 minutes. Stay strong fellow hunters...

The fastest way that I found, took maybe 5 minutes.

1. Get to the area.
2. Find a World Quest in the zone, and join an already existing group. (this works best, if the World Quest is kill "Named" as there will be groups forming again and again)
3. Once you have joined group, you will be sent to the group leaders server. This will phase you to their zone.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get a group that has Mystics up.
5. Kill Mystics until item drops.

This worked for me on all 3 of my hunters. Longest it took was 7 min because the Mythic did not drop the item right away.

So I got the quest today, and there were no Seabound <anything> in the area. Decided to Shadowmeld and come over to WoWhead for a look. When I tab back to the game, ~5mins, there they were. If you don't see your Mystics at first, don't immediately give up. :)

I read that you needed WM on to see the Mystics that drop the essence - didn't think it was true until I waited 3 days non-WM and they didn't spawn. As soon as I turned WM on, there they were.

there is nothing to be found here except strife, lies, seabound soldiers/officers, swampstalkers, swampserpetnts and shambling corpses - every time, rain of shine, snow or slow, on the hour every hour x 38 this week alone..maybe idk

Checked a few times today with WM off, only the reapers and despoilers were up. Turned on WM, came back and the Mystics were up. Killed 20-30 and got it. The time was around 7:40 pm CST (GMT-6).

Took me 4 days, coming back different times of the day and night to see if they would spawn for me. Never did. Port to SW, turned on War mode, came back and the place was crawling with Mystics. Took about 20-25 kills before it dropped.

They are up right now in USA Sever, 3:00 Pm MST. There is no assault there the dailies that are up include:

Sea of Fethers
Wanted: Slumber
Wanted: Shara Felbreath
Crabby Crunchies
A Dark Tide
Warden Tower Assault: Cordana's Apex
Prisoners of Greystone
Lords of the hills

I listed these in case one of these has to be up for the correct spawn.

I'm a solo player and didn't want to depend on other folks inviting me for server hops to find the Mystics. Especially since it's pretty rare to find someone in the zone depending on what Mythics are up now.

Here's the easiest solution I found:

Download the NPC Time addon to tell how "fresh" a layer is.
Head to the area to see if Mystics are up.
If Mystics are not up, head back to Trueshot Lodge and take the portal back to Dalaran and swap your War Mode state to get a new layer.
Talk to Talua on Krasus' Landing and head back Trueshot Lodge, then back to scout the zone for Mystics.
Rinse, Repeat as needed.

You should get new layers every time you swap your War Mode state unless you're unlucky. Hover over Odan Battlebow when you zone back into Trueshot Lodge and you'll see how old he is. If everything is right with the world you'll see he's a few seconds old and you're on a new layer and can try your luck again.

It took me a couple times with this method and about 20 kills to get the item.

For those who cant server hop I was able to go to Valdrakken (since this is DF xpack) but if your lower lvl so if your Horde go to Orgrimmar and if Alliance go to Stormwind City and turn on WM (warmode) in your talent tree at the bottom right and then go back and you WILL see the Seabound Mystics I promise you I just got mine after 20 ish mins of farming and they respawn isnt to bad, I was able to just jump around and shoot the mobs and it DID drop the Essence of Pure Spirit. Hope this helps for some people I had seen saying they had bugs with this quest Happy Hunting ^.^ <3
