The proc on this weapon is a bit odd. You always know when it procs because your character has a short animation as if they had just finished casting a spell. The fact that it doesn't proc that often, and the proc itself is rather tame makes this a rather middle-of-the-road gun. At level 53 you can do better.

At lvl 53, an additional 18-26 damage isn't realy something that will turn the fight around.

For markmanship hunters, its too fast, though it might be usable by BM hunts. Anyway, if your buying this gun because of the proc, dont! Waste money on something else. And I say "waste" since you will get a lot new gear, way better than this in only 5 lvls time, considering you are 53 when you get it. Have to say I agree with Ormriss. You can do better! =P

i have to agree with the other posters here the proc is not very cool and doesnt happen enough to merit buying this gun, BUT i cannot totally diss this gun because the proc has saved my life a few times and that was worth the price of the gun fully :)

This gun is a decent upgrade for the solo hunter that doesn't do many dungeons. At this particular level range, there are few ranged weapons to be had with better dps outside of dungeon work/quests.

The next upgrade from my old xbow was the quest bow from Winterspring, and it is 4 less dps than this gun. The proc is a nonfactor imo, as it is often resisted by humanoids at this level. The added dps helps. Beware, the gun is fast and you will eat up ammo. But in fights where you want to kill off casters, the added speed seems to help compared to slower ranged weapons.

Not a bad buy if you can find it for 35ish gold on the AH at this level. Add a level 40 scope, and you should do fine til you hit outlands.

If you have plenty of gold to burn, the Dwaven Hand Cannon would be a better choice for this level range. But for the average starting out character, the asking price is generally 160-200 gold on the AH and too much for 5 more dps.

This gun was my first after Master Hunter's Rifle. I had Master Hunter's Rifle 14 levels, but this gun was at last better for me...
