This looks as though it is for all casters rather then a specific class such as the Oblivion stuff (which is obviously Warlock). It is nice that they will have a few sets which will benifit multi classes.

The Dungeon3 sets work like this:
Hallowed Raiment is specifically for Priests, focused on healing.
Incanter's Regalia is specifically for Mages.
Oblivion Raiment is for Warlocks, granting the pet manaregen and boosting Seed.

This set, by contrast, is for all casters, and offensively geared, so better for Shadow Priests / Holy Nukers / Destrolocks, and possibly certain Mages.

Yea, this set is very nice for all casters. However I myself being a Destro lock, don't forsee myself going for the Oblivion Raiment.

Seed of Corruption bonus is nice, but I'd rather have the +110 dmg. And the 45mp5 for my pet is garbage...If you are demo you don't need it since your pet has Mana Feed, Destro isn't pet reliant (except Succubus or Felhunter) And I'm not Aff, or a big fan of it for PvP so I am not sure as to how the set will be for them.

I just don't really see the 45mp5 being good for anything but Dark Pact locks. Good they finally get something nice though :P

No, because of the set bonuses. Frost Mages pretty much never use either Flamestrike or Mana Shield, so the set bonuses on Incantors are useless to them.

This set is very nice for almost any caster, for me being a fire mage, this set is perfect, i only dont uderstand the little resilience rating bonuses but the rest is just great, +crit + hit + spell penetration, is the package i need, lack of any is just noticable. But being in party with any other dps caster who wants it aswell is completly understandable. Frost mages tho dont need much spell p. AND hit because Frost bolt cant be partially resisted so id rather go for hit and spell power gear.

2 pieces of this is a must have for about every caster(35 hit is ***nice) you to choose wich slots you consider prior.

Personal Opinions :

As a Mage, I only used Incanter's pieces as filler when I was gearing up

Mana-Etched Regalia > Incanter's Regalia
- Incanter's set bonuses are a joke

Aldor Regalia > Tirisfal Regalia
- I can manage without the extra 1.5% spell crit
- I use Shiffar's Nexus-Horn, it procs a lot for me

The shoulders and the robes with proper rare gems and the 2 piece bonus are hot.

The Old hillsbrad(heroic) runs it will take to get you the robes may piss off your guildies but it's worth it !

42 int, 50 stam, 74 spell dmg, 35 hit, 53 crit, 5 penetration, 3 resilience.

The cool thing is the useful set bonus with 2 bits - coupled with Spellfire this is really attractive.

Also the Crown has a meta gem slot which allows things like the 5% spell cast improvement proc, or a +12 crit - very, very nice.

Overall, I estimate this set to be better than the Incanter's set for mage damage output or pre-PvP. The set bonuses easily beat those of the incanters, and the stats are more damage-oriented, with slightly more crit and less dmg, but socket options to make both superior for the mana-etched set.

However, as far as straight damage the two are quite comparable, and for time periods where good mana regen is essential (escorts, endurance fights, or just plowing through an instance with minimal downtime) the incanter's is superior, so I would collect both sets.

To get a strong appraisal of the value of crit vs dmg, you need to examine your current dmg and determine what yields the biggest increase. 22 crit rating = 1% crit at lvl 70. 1% crit = 0.5% dmg increase (1% with spell power or shatter, 1.25% with both/0.9% with ignite, or 1.4% with both ignite and spell power). Let us assume you have a talent that doubles crit dmg (1% crit = 1% dmg increase). If your spell were to hit for 1000 dmg, 1% of which is 10, then 22 crit rating = 10 spell dmg (assuming a 100% spell dmg coefficient) as far as overall dmg output. Your spell would have to have >2200 base dmg before 1 crit = 1 spell dmg, and beyond 2200 crit exceeds spell dmg in terms of benefit per point. Almost no one has an average base damage per case of 2200, with a 2x, rather than 1.5x multiplier for crits. And for PvP, crit becomes even less beneficial due to Resilience.

Lets compare to the Incanter set if mage:

Mana-Etched - Incanters
armor: both 633
Stamina: 27 more than Incanters
Intellect: 9 less than Incanters
Spirit: 84 less than Incanters
+spelldmg/healing: 13 less than Incanters
+ spell crit: 11 more than Incanters
+spell Penetration: 33 more than Incanters.
Meta Gems: both 1
Blue Gems: 1 more than Incanters
Red Gems: 2 more than Incanters
Yellow Gems: 1 less than Incanters

Gems can turn these sets upside down, so I think theyre both good but I would prefer Mana-Etched for my mage.
But as mage, it will get tougher to fill up your mana pool with this set rather than Incanters, 84 spirit is a fair amount

At best, I'd say it's to help with those encounters where a DPS class is called to tank from range (like Omor in Ramparts, for example). Other than that, it's pretty useless.

The 2-piece set bonus on this is something that many people overlook. Gear that comes with +spell hit rating is hard to come by by the time you have completed Karazhan. While each of the items are individually weaker than epics you will farm easily in 10-mans, the free +35 spell hit rating is hard to replace easily without sacrificing a lot of other gem slots.

If you are gearing up for 10-man raids, 2 pieces of these will be invaluable.

i'm gonna grab this for kara, with the spell hit set bonus and the red(for some orange gems) and yellow gems you can jam this with spell hit for the 16% hit cap, (or 10% 6% 13% whatever you need) and you can add in a bit of stam( green or purple gem and get some dmg) with all of its sockets its a very versitile set

I like this set for transmog purposes--the unique shoulder graphic and color scheme give it a unique, eye-catching quality. It doesn't really look like anything you see anymore.

However, I decided to search for a different headpiece for my mage, as I found the halo too reminiscent of priest gear. Here are some of the color-matching options I looked at:
First, my personal pick:
-Dark Conjuror's Collar - drops off Kil'Jaeden. The pale shimmer is perfect, and it even has the same (tiny) red gem accents! If you're having no luck assembling a run or getting the drop, check the "same model as" tab for a few that are oh-so-close in color, but not quite a match.

Some other options:
-Conqueror's Kirin Tor Hood - token drops from Thorim 25. The color is a bit off, but it's the most "mage-ish" of the options. It doesn't play well with some hairstyles, and it's a little weird in that it covers your full face. o.O;;
-This particular recolor of the Vicious Gladiator's Silk Cowl matches, but I'm not sure it's available in-game any longer.
-Tattered Glacial-Woven Hood - from the gauntlet at the end of reg Halls of Reflection. I've never been a fan of this particular model, but it matches quite well.
-Savage Gladiator's Silk Cowl - 550 JP in Dalaran. I like this one for being a traditional hood, but I don't like how the bottom of the hood pokes out in an obviously-solid mess of polygons that slices through your toon's neck.
-Ameth'Aran Cowl - random green drop. The brown all over the back doesn't match at all, but the green in the front matches perfectly.

Other accessories considered:
Circle of Flame for the fire mages, but it doesn't match at all. You might be able to play the Tourmaline Crown off the red gems, but again, not quite a match.

For the belt, I felt the Braid of Salt and Fire worked well but ultimately went with the Ameth'Aran Cord

The feet are barely visible in this robe, so I just used Boots of the Long Road/Soul-Strider Boots (same graphic) to color-match.

I really like the Grand Magister's Staff of Torrents for this set. There aren't many weapons that match here, so until I get that, I'll use something super understated like a Demoniac Longstaff or Calenda Fighting Stick.

I couldn't find any cloaks that made me scream "That's the one!" but I kind of like the Blackmetal Cape/Redoubt Cloak/Gilded Thorium Cloak (all the same graphic) with this.
