Macros
Macros are simple, in-game tools which allow you to sequence spells together, create custom names and icons, cast different abilities depending on whether the target is friendly or hostile, define targeting conditions, and much, much more. While the amount of options can be complex, making them is easy, so in this section we'll go over how to set them up yourself.
To open the in-game Macro interface, type "/macro" or "/m".
Choose between the General and Character-specific macro tabs. Then click the "New" button on the macro window.
Choose a Name and an Icon so you can easily recognize your macro, then click "Okay."
Select your new macro and use the text editor below to tell it what to do. If copying ours below, you can simply copy/paste the text in.
Click the "Save" button, and drag your macro icon onto your bars, which will allow it to be used just like any other spell from your spellbook.
To close the window, click "Exit", or just press Escape.

Activate On-use Trinket
This macro aims to conveniently use whatever trinket you currently have equipped in the top trinket slot without needing to manually rebind every option you switch around. You can instead set it to use "14" for the bottom trinket slot.
#showtooltip
/use 13
Bonedust Brew
Casting Utility
This is a macro that is recommended to customize based on your own personal tastes with reticle abilities. By default, it will cast
Bonedust Brew
at the location of your mouse cursor without needing to confirm with an additional click. However, with the modifier held down (alt, here), it will instead cast
Bonedust Brew
directly at your feet.
#showtooltip Bonedust Brew
/cast Bonedust Brew
/cast Bonedust Brew
Detox
Mouseover Support
Using this macro, you can cast
Detox
on whatever target you are mousing over, provided they are a friendly player that is not currently dead. It will otherwise cast
Detox
on yourself.
#showtooltip Detox
/cast Detox;Detox
Dismissing Statues
Although they may be despawned by right clicking their icons under your player frame,
Summon Black Ox Statue
/
Summon White Tiger Statue
/
Summon Jade Serpent Statue
can also be removed with the push of a button thanks to a macro such as this. However, you will also need to make use of either a separate
WeakAura
or a UI replacement addon for this macro to function.

Spear Hand Strike
Mouseover Support
With this macro, you can cast
Spear Hand Strike
on an enemy that you have highlighted with your mouse, provided they are not dead, otherwise it will be cast on your current target. This can be especially useful in a cluster of enemy nameplates featuring a caster you do not have time to manually target.
#showtooltip Spear Hand Strike
/cast Spear Hand Strike; Spear Hand Strike
Tiger's Lust
Mouseover Support
This macro will attempt to cast
Tiger's Lust
on your mouseover target, if they are an ally that is not currently dead. If there is no such target highlighted, you will instead
Tiger's Lust
yourself. This can be particularly helpful in those rare moments when you would rather use this ability on another player who has potentially been rooted or snared.
#showtooltip Tiger's Lust
/cast Tiger's Lust;Tiger's Lust
Universal Brewmaster Taunt Macro
This macro aims to cover all the different ways you may need to make use of
Provoke
, depending on your talents or otherwise. First and foremost, it will allow you to taunt what you are currently mousing over, if it is an applicable living enemy. If this is not the case, it will instead taunt your current target. From here, if holding the modifier key and using this macro (alt, in the example), you will instead target and cast
Provoke
on your
Summon Black Ox Statue
if it has been talented and placed, before immediately switching back to your previous target. However, this macro will only work in the presence of a single Black Ox Statue, as there is no way in-game for the macro to know which one is yours.
If you'd like, the "alt" modifier can be replaced with "ctrl" or "shift".
#showtooltip Provoke
/cast Provoke
/cast Provoke
/targetexact Black Ox Statue
/cast Provoke
/targetlasttarget
Feel free to adjust the order or entirely remove the @cursor or @player conditions as necessary, or replace the "alt" modifier with "ctrl" or "shift".
How to Make a Macro
To open up the Macro menu, type "/macro" or "/m".
Choose between the "General" and Character-specific macro tabs. Then click on the "New" button on the macro window.
Choose a Name and an Icon so you can easily recognize your macro, then click on "Okay."
Select your macro's icon from the list at the top of the macro window, and then click in the text area below. Type or copy/paste your macro into the text area.
When you are finished, click the "Save" button, and to close the window, click "Exit".
Addons
Addons are powerful tools that can be used to both customize your gameplay experience, ranging from graphical overlays, replacement action bars, and unit/raid frames, to performance enhancements such as rotation helping spell reminders, buff/debuff tracking, popup reminders, and boss warnings. Here are some of the highly recommended and commonly used Brewmaster Monk addons, which are certainly not required to play, but can go a long way toward increasing the information available to you in combat or simply make for a more pleasant viewing experience.
Unlike Macros, managing Addons is done outside of the game, but our
How to Install and Maintain Addons Guide
will take you step-by-step through the process.
