Vengeance Demon Hunter Raid Talent Build
We typically refer to any variation of the Raid builds that run
Down in Flames
as
Heretic
builds.
Utility Raid build
This build is used for general group utility. It trades a minor bit of damage (less than 0.5%) for
Darkness
to help reduce some damage at critical points.
You will want to play this whenever there are large raidwide damage events that your raid can stack nearby for. In Amirdrassil specifically, some examples would be the
Tortured Scream
on Gnarlroot or
Brand of Damnation
on Smolderon.
Some potential talent swaps are noted in the Annotated section for different situations, but check the Raid guide for full explanations of each talent build on different bosses.

Legend
Talents can be swapped for adds
Pick one depending on preference
Can swap into
Extended Spikes
for slightly more physical defensive uptime at the cost of consistent magic, mobility, and damage.
Pick 2 of 3,
Stoke the Flames
+
Soul Carver
for damage,
Stoke the Flames
+
Darkglare Boon
for simpler play and balance,
Soul Carver
+
Darkglare Boon
for defensiveness
In the class tree,
Rush of Chaos
and
Demonic
give us more uptime on
Metamorphosis
.
The Hunt
gives us lots of burst and strong self-sustain.
In the spec tree,
Frailty
and its associated talents, all the way down to
Soulcrush
are what makes us strong in Dragonflight.
Fiery Demise
gives us huge burst windows which line up with our main cooldowns.
I've highlighted potential talent swaps depending on preference and situation.
If you happen to need
Darkness
or
Calcified Spikes
, you can feel free to spec into them.
Finally,
Last Resort
is an ok option for all progression content, as it is a cheat death. You will be giving up significant amounts of defensive value for it, so it's better to use the trinket instead, but you can play it if you haven't gotten access to it early.
Standard Raid Build
This build is used once you're comfortable with the raid and don't need the extra utility.

Vengeance Demon Hunter Mythic+ Talent Builds
For Mythic+, Vengeance has one primary build used for all situations, with minor variations depending on utility needed for the week or personal preference. These builds which run
Illuminated Sigils
are generally called
Sigilweaver
.
Vengeance Demon Hunter Standard Mythic+ Talent Build
This is the build played for the majority of keys. It does high damage while maintaining good survivability. There are minor variations you can swap based on need. Groups of talents that can be swapped are in the Annotated Talents tab.
In the class tree, we've defaulted to
Chaos Fragments
and
Live by the Glaive
due to the extra Souls and Fury they provide consistently throughout a dungeon. In addition,
Champion of the Glaive
has been selected due to QoL, giving us our only spell with a 40 yd cast range for pulling packs.
Imprison
should be taken only if needed for an extra skip or on
Incorporeal
. Similarly,
Consume Magic
should only be taken as needed when there are powerful buffs that need to be removed from enemies.
More specific information on when to take each talent can be found in the Mythic+ guide for this season.
In the spec tree, we've got a few more optional swaps.
Choose between
Calcified Spikes
and
Ascending Flame
in the upper tier. We've taken
Ascending Flame
since it's a nice snap threat and damage increase, but taking
Calcified Spikes
for a roughly 4% consistent DR is also an option.
Choose among
Volatile Flameblood
,
Soul Furnace
,
Sigil of Chains
, and
Painbringer
in the middle tier. We've defaulted to focusing on damage here, since
Volatile Flameblood
provides consistent Fury and
Soul Furnace
is a 4-5% damage boost on its own. If you feel like you need more control over enemies, you can swap one point into
Sigil of Chains
. At higher keys, you'd spend both points in
Painbringer
instead, since it's a substantial defensive boost (~10% DR in ST and ~20% in AoE on average).
In the capstone tier, you have one flex point that can be moved around. Default is
Cycle of Binding
since it provides CDR on all our sigils, which is useful for both control from our utility sigils and defensiveness through the bonus parry from
Illuminated Sigils
.
Soul Carver
provides better priority target damage and a bit of defensiveness through bonus soul generation (it's between 5-10% of our soul generation and therefore healing), so it's a good balanced option.
Stoke the Flames
is an option if you are doing easier content and want to focus on AoE damage, while
Feed the Demon
is a purely defensive option that allows you to spend your
Demon Spikes
charges more freely without having to conserve them.

Legend

Spend 2 points here for utility/damage/defense
Any of these talents are optional for damage/defense
In the class tree,
Rush of Chaos
and
Demonic
give us more uptime on
Metamorphosis

The Hunt
gives us lots of burst and self-sustain.
Chaos Nova
gives us mob control and survivability as well.
In the spec tree,
Frailty
and its associated talents, all the way down to
Soulcrush
are what makes us strong in Dragonflight.
Fiery Demise
gives us huge burst windows, which are up very often, and
Illuminated Sigils
allows for some flexibility in damage, survivability and utility.
You can swap among any of the marked nodes in the same color, depending on the situation. In the default build, we've generally gone for a bit more damage, but you can pick more utility or defense as needed.
Vengeance Demon Hunter Survival Talent Build
This build is for dungeons you're unfamiliar with, or when pushing extremely difficult progression content. You will be giving up a substantial amount of damage for this build, so only play it if you absolutely need to.

Vengeance Demon Hunter Fortified Survival Talent Build
This build is for extremely high fortified keys for extra uptime. You will be giving up a substantial amount of damage as well as ST survivability for this build, so it's generally better only on Fortified weeks.
