If it's progression and there's alot of wiping, I just use the Fish Feasts whenever they are down. However, I also carry a nice stack of about 15-20 Blackened Dragonfin at all times just in case the feasts aren't available.
You just never want to be caught with no food buff up or having to beg other raiders.

Oh, come on now. I agree that it shouldn't cost effectively twice as much as the Strength food, but it's really not that hard to get Dragonfin Angelfish. Lake Indu'le in southwest Dragonblight has plenty of schools of it. When you run out of schools and have to wait--almost
two minutes
(gasp)--for one to respawn, you can just fish out of the lake itself, which will net you Bonescale Snappers (for the hit rating food), and Musselback Sculpins (for one-third of Fish Feasts).
It's not like it's hard to fish for Fish Feasts, either. Every time I do the fishing daily in Wintergrasp I get enough fish for two or three Fish Feasts at the same time, in five to seven minutes of fishing.

Yeah they are always 8g a pop on my server no matter what quantity you buy, and even if you are doing the fishing and cooking yourself, they are still worth 8g each. You have to take opportunity costs into consideration here. If you weren't using those yourself, you would be selling them on AH for 8g each. Therefore they still cost you, the fisherman/cook, 8g each.
Lately I've been running 5-6 nights a week doing both 10 and 25 man runs and if I exclusively used Blackened Dragonfin, i would probably go through 4-5 dozen a week. That's just too expensive when added to 3 flasks a night + ammo consumption + repairs.
I typically only use the Dragonfin in the following situations:
1) Nobody has a fish feast
2) It's a very tight boss fight where we are either very close to downing it or the fight is still tough enough that it can go either way and any small boost can make a difference.
3) Occasionally when i feel i will get the full duration out of it without dying. (not that often atm)

With the pet mend minor glyph I have never had to carry food for pet consumption since I got it. I carry mammoth treats though for the buff... even though the pet really doesn't eat it, which is kind of a weird mechanic
I've had to start carrying pet food on Mimiron nights.
Anybody have any advice on keeping pets alive on that one? It's just been an absolute nightmare so far. I've basically resorted to keeping my wolf at my side and just letting him buff me with Furious Howl and CotW.
