If you are starting a druid, I suggest this talent
build. Around lvl 60, you can put points into restoration, but before that focus on feral. Oh, that site you check is pretty outdated.

Only the stats on the weapon matter. And the DPS - since the Feral Attack Power is derived from that.
Otherwise, druids in cat form naturally use only one weapon (call it 'paw' if you like) with a base 1 second swing timer and a base damage of 55. Anything on top of that comes from AP and talent modifiers. For a better example, take a loot at
THIS screenshot.
We see there on the character tab:
Damage: 637 - 662 (average value: 649, for easier calculations)
Speed: 0.91 (this is lower than 1 because I have 9% haste; the more haste I have, the more damage per second I do with melee swings)
Power: 7503 (this is the Attack Power, or AP)
The damage per swing formula is basically 55 + (0.0714 * AP), in our case it is 55 + 535 = 590. I have the Naturalist 5/5 talent, which adds +10% physical damage in all forms. So we get 590 * 1.1 = 649. Bingo! The same as the average value.
Bottom line, when picking a weapon, the weapon's damage and swing timer are irrelevant. You only need to look at the
Feral Attack Power (you can see it as an extra green stat on the weapon since you are a druid, it is basically derived from the weapon's DPS value),
Strength, Agility (these two are 'white stats'),
Attack Power, Crit, Haste, Hit, Expertise, Armor Penetration (these are 'green stats'). Usually a green quality weapon will have 1-2 white stats and 1-2 green stats (up to a total of three white + green). A blue weapon will have 1-2 white stats and 2-3 green stats (up to a total of four white + green). And an epic quality weapon will most likely have 2-3 white stats and 2-3 green stats (up to a total of five white + green).
