Got my Hunter to level 70 and will hopefully hit 80 very soon.
Am preparing gear and enchants as I go on my bank character.
Is this build :
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#cZceV0oZx0ci0cIhxdAhsu:NAimzM
considered acceptable? (I've been BM spec'd since level 10 so I've little-to-knowledge
of the Survival Tree.)
If I go well over the Hit Rating cap I'll switch out those points in Focused Aim and maybe move them into Improved Hunters Mark.
(Is Aimed Shot REALLY needed? Is it difficult to hit both the Hit cap AND the Haste cap?)
Thanks.

If anything I could just suggest one point into
Go for the Throat
Your pet does help with your DPS, and having your pet Focus starved isn't good.

here's
the cookie-cutter SV spec.
That is the build I use, with one exception. I have one point in Improved aspect of the Hawk, taken from Hunting Party.
Although to be honest, I don't know if that switch is worth it.

Is Improved Stings better then Noxious Stings? The reason to get Noxious is because of the +SS dam but ImpS does 30% more where NS does 3%

A cookie cutter build is the build that on average works best for the average player. The actually best build is the build that suits the individual player best.
For example, I see many builds have points in Improved Tracking. I don't. This not because this isn't a better talent than others. It's just that I always forget to set tracking to the right kind of target. I have both herbalism and mining. And I fish a lot. Nine times out of ten I'm tracking herbs, veins or pools. Putting points in a talent you don't use is not a good idea.
In my SV build I do have five points in Improved tracking to get to the second tier.
If you want to find the best build for you, you can do worse than follow the cookie cutter build while leveling. At every step see what the other options are and see why people choose one talent over the other (if you have questions ask why a is better than b; sometimes you'll get called a troll or laughed at, but mostly you'll get a meaningful answer; the way you ask can help here.)
