I prefer leveling character from ground up (from 1 on) than starting it with level XX. The only thing is, Blizzard should really make some changes from 1 to at least 20 if not 30. Get more quests, get green items a bit earlier or increase droprate from normal mobs at that levels.
I love leveling from ground up, yet then again... at around level 15,.. it starts to get a bit messy and slow (comparing to higher levels).

I personally think that being able to start at level 20, 30, or 40 would be fair if you already have at least one 80 in my opinion. I mean, nothing higher than 40, but still, something higher than 20. I, along with tons of other players i'm sure, hate leveling from 1 through about 32, (once you get to STV it starts getting fun, aside from the ganking, heh). Plus, you're going to already have to have an 80 in order for this to work anyway, you should know at least something of each class. It's not like 1-30 is going to make you instantly know how to play your class correctly or not. I just feel that it'd bring more alts and players to the table. I have 4 80s and I disliked everytime I went from 1-30. I have deleted toons because I just couldn't level them past 20 because of how dull and boring it was. I want a hunter, but refuse to level another character from 1. If they gave me the option of even starting at 20, i'd probably level one. But definitely not from one. Besides, I bet they lose a lot of customers when they get geared at 80, but don't want to level another alt and have nothing to do on their main. I know there has to be at least some people out there like that.
I would just hope it'd be an option to start at 20, 30, 40, not a requirement.

I think that if you have an 80, you could choose to start a new char at level 20.
Those first levels are so boring, and teches you nothing, since your char has so few skills.
Right, learning how to move, keybind, talk, adjust the camera, video options, all that other stuff none of those who came to WoW as their first MMORPG knew how to do at first is all nothing.
If you know what you're doing, i.e. have played the levels before, you can breeze through them with your knowledge.
If you haven't, you need the early levels to grasp the basic mechanics involved in gameplay and communication.
Starting at lvl 20 or higher just because you've done it before is simple lazyness, suck it up and grind.
Let Blizzard come up with new content rather than waste time coding this crappy idea. The only reason DK's start at lvl 55 is because lore-wise they practically need to.

I agree with Fritz here.
Granted, I am an altaholic but even so, 1-20 is a breeze (unless you're a druid :P). Not to mention there are 4 starting zones for each faction to accomplish these levels in, which is content you'd just be skipping. I guess you could throw that into the personal preference category. But if you already have an 80, the few small hours it takes to get to 20 should be a cake walk anyway. And if it's not, I'd think skipping them is an even worse proposal.
Besides, almost every class has class specific quests within these level ranges that must be completed to even learn their core abilities.

To be fair, he did specifically say "if you have a level 80". Unless you leveled via eBay, you know all those things.
I actually find starting at level 55 on a DK a bit annoying, for one primary reason: Professions. Going back to level mining or another profession is kind of a pain. However, I also don't think under any circumstances it would be fair to give them a profession boost as well; DKs are already OP enough.
I would rather see Blizzard go back and revamp the starting area quests to be more streamlined and perhaps update the storylines a bit - but unfortunately in multiple interviews they've stated they have no plans on going back to "clean up" Azeroth.
