I recommend this build:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#IfxMbzMAoVA0IktZE0RV:ITM
And I recommend
EventHorizon
to monitor your DoTs. Its wonderful for perfecting a rotation and avoiding clipping.
Pet wise, I would use the Succubus for the most possible DPS. She rarely dies for me, and in fights with lots of magic damage being thrown around, I sometimes switch to the Felpup.
In case the glyphs don't show up correctly in the talent build use: Haunt, Life Tap, and Corruption (or use CoA, I still use Corruption however).
And be sure to Drain Soul when your target gets to 25% health instead of SB spam.

Hit cap is 17% (or 18%? I can never remember :P) for casters. The rating that is displayed in the character panel doesn't include the 3% from Suppression.
Take some time to practice on the training dummies each time you log on and you'll get the hang of it. And remember: Haunt
cannot
be clipped - as soon as its off cool down, use it (unless you need to be refreshing a DoT). If you do that, you'll rarely have to make the decision between Haunt and a DoT. I personally usually make sure Haunt stays up and take the DPS hit, but like I said, I rarely have to make those calls if I pay close attention.
