Want to make a solo druid

A have little to none experience with druids and I am interested in making a horde character to solo content in old azeroth and outlands.
My main is a human protection paladin and I am able to solo many things, like outland dungeons and group quests in northrend. My main way to heal through the high damage is Judgement of Light and Seal of Light, which I like to think of as "passive" healing.
I understand the way to solo many things as a druid is to go bear form. The only things I know that a bear can heal is frenzied regeneration and Improved leader of the pack. These abilities seem weaker and limited than my paladin's "passive" healing. Do druids have to get out of bear form to heal with their proper healing and hot spells to solo things? Wouldn't this make them make them more vunerable to high damage attacks for a short time?
I could just make a belf paladin as I am more expierenced with them, but I really want to play and explore different classes, especially as a druid as they seem pretty interesting. Thanks for any advice.

As an 80 feral druid tank that can do heroics
i can solo all outland azeroth non heroic dungeons
Only in level 70 normal instances i find myself going out of bear form to heal myself
barkskin and heal quickly and you dont take too much damage

As Parrazell has stated before, A solid druid tank build will help you solo the best.
I have solo'd quite a bit as a tank, and can effectively solo almost any 70 heroic dungeon as well as Onyxia and a bit of MC. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than completing any group quest (recommended 5 group players ... *or a single druid) by yourself and not even breaking a sweat.
Usually I do not need to jump out of bear form since I crit so often for an extra 1250 Bubble and my Improved Leader of the Pack heals for quite a bit... also ... If I am ever too low on health... pop Survival Instincts and frenzy regen like stated before... and if you feel like it... barkskin, (although I really save barkskin for the real bad parts when I NEED to jump out and heal ... Barkskin = no inturruption) ... but overall I think Feral Druids, BM hunters, and Demonology Warlocks are the best solo classes out there.
