maybe that dps cant recognise that 25man is harder, but healers and tanks are getting harder hits, so healers must heal more and tanks must tank better :) dps are only worried about big number of dps

If you can clear Naxx 10 in one night, and clear Malygos, then your gear should be enough to start Ulduar10 - though I doubt to get anywhere near clearing it. But even if you only do the first few easy bosses in Ulduar, that in turn gives you ilvl 219 gear which will help gear you up further. If members are joining a pug (or you could see if another guild might invite your members) for naxx 25 then that's extra gear too.
10 mans are easier in the respect that getting everyone together on time is easier, not having idiots in your group is easier, And if you are well knowledgeable people then a 10 man is perfectly completeable by 10 people - we went in on our first 10 man with all hc geared and yes it was tough at first but we worked our way through it.
25 mans are a lot harder to organise, but they are easier in the respect that people can screw up (well, DPS usually). You can lose 3-4 dps on a fight and often still not wipe. Heigan? Hell I've done it with 6 out of 25 alive at the end (fight took 24 minutes though, jeez!) In 10 mans, everyone needs to be aware of their roles. If you take 3 tanks into a 25 man, most fights only need 2, if the MT dies you still have 2 tanks left to grab it. If you take 5 healers and 1 dies, you'll still be fine, if one healer forgets to cleanse, the others will pick up the slack, etc. so 25 mans are perhaps simply "more forgiving".
If your 10 man players know their classes and play their roles well, you will succeed.

He claims to even get started on uldaman, we would need naxx 25 gear
. If this is correct, then doesnt this nullify the whole purpose of the 10 man content? I thought this was to sort out whether people wanted to raid hardcore (25 man) or raid casually (10 man). So wowhead, please tell me, is my raiding friend correct?
All replies are greatly appreciated thank you.
The troggs are a pain :)
10man content is usually the same difficulty as 25man, at least they are scaled to be equally challenging. The purpose of 10man content is to allow smaller guilds/groups of friends to still experience PvE content without having to find another 15 people.
The hard modes are generally alot harder for the sole reason a death or some other ^&*!ups have a larger effect on the group than they would in a 25man.
You do not need Naxxramas25 gear to start in Ulduar10, they're both the same item levels, plus Ulduar has had it's difficulty reduced recently so some of it may even be possible in heroic gear if you know the fights well enough.

And don't forget the first fight in Ulduar requires no gear based (except that on the siege tanks ilevel counts - but you can stack the buyable ilvl 213 gear for your 2 drivers). So aside from the 2 siege drivers, hypothetically Flame Leviathan is downable in greens... it's worth the 20 mins to clear the trash and whack him to get 2 pieces of ilevel 219 gear for your guildies.

But, lastly, you can't go to Naxx25 with blues / heroics' epics, (well, you can, but not the whole raid :P). So, that's why you have to do Naxx10 first. :)
This is, of course, not true. The progression path is designed so you can go:
Heroics/Crafted -> 10 Man OS / VoA -> 10 Man Naxx -> 10 Man Malygos -> 10 Man Emalon -> 10 Man Ulduar -> 10 Man Ulduar Hard Modes
or
Heroics/Crafted -> 25 Man OS / VoA -> 25 Man Naxx -> 25 Man Malygos -> 25 Man Emalon -> 25 Man Ulduar -> 25 Man Ulduar Hard Modes
The first time my guild went into 25 Man Naxx it was in heroic gear and maybe 1 or 2 pieces (maximum) on each person from a partial cleared 10 Man Naxx. Of course if you gear up in 10 Man Naxx first it will make 25 man easier, but it is by no means necessary. They are parallel progression paths.

the 10 man raids before ulduar were harder then the 25 man versions. Why do you think everyone ran around with 'of the nightfall' instead of 'twilight vanquisher'. This was a design flaw on Blizzard's part and they have stated that this mistake will not be repeated in future raids.
It is very easy to observe that ten man Ulduar is significantly easier then 25 man Ulduar. As a raid healer, I notice the raid damage taken is much less on normal. (kologarn will smash a average raid member to 70% on normal, and about 50 or 40% on heroic).
