Frostfire is EXTREMELY crit dependent. Without an enormous crit pool, your arcane will easily overtake it in Damage. In fact, now, I think Arcane still wins out over FFB spec since the most recent patch regardless... However, if you want to change, You'll definitely want to up your crit and ditch some of that haste 'cause your current gear set is not quite crit-heavy enough.
Wand, Helm, and rings come to mind after glancing at your gear.
Gems are easy to swap out and back. Why not invest a little, swap out the gems, see if you can beat your current Arcane damage with your FFB. If you don't have enough spare gear laying around to make the changes, wait on it until you do. :-) good luck

I used to raid as arcane for a long time. I made the switch to FB in preparation for Ulduar, and my reason is exactly the one mathron stated. The gearing is so similar, it's the easiest and most natural path if you were arcane.

Oscar - On all the sheets I've done with Ulduar gear, I've got FFB spec ahead of Arcane unless Arcane gets innervates or mana tides.
edit - my RAWR numbers
fireball 7542
frostfire 7304
Arcane 7070, 7204 with 1 innervate and 1 mana tide.
If anyone else is running these numbers let me know, I'd like to have a double check or someone else with the same numbers.
Right on. I leave the RAWRing and ## crunching to ppl who have "Math" in their name. ;-) Depending on how much Hit rating you can potentially get with your current gear, I think FFB will be easier for him to Achieve than Fireball/TTW. That all depends on what gear he has laying around...

I agree, the high hit rating aside, FireTTW and Arcane gear pretty much the same and favor Haste over Crit.
Frostfire does have it's advantages (better mana and aoe) but personally I find gearing for Crit can be hard and expensive (you need LOADS to get 1%) where Haste is available in bucketloads and cheap.
Interestingly, even though FireTTW favors Haste over Crit, Rawr sometimes picks Crit items over Haste. Rings mostly.
Completely my opinion, but Crit feels like it leans more towards PvP now more than PvE stat now. It's still needed in PvE, but not as much as it used to.

right - crit's still NOT BAD. It's just that haste is relatively more powerful for the TTW-FB than FFB.
That's NOT to say you shouldn't get haste as FFB or crit as FB, it's just a demonstration of 1 concept.
I never said it was bad o_O

Go for the sure thing.
Arc/ Fireball

FFB spec is a crit reliant spec, less crits = low dps.
vice versa
arc/fire is hardly the "sure thing" since it requires so much more hit rating. If your gear isn't up to snuff, you'll actually lose a considerable amount of DPS trying to regem/reenchant for the hit rating you need. Especially if you don't have a set raid group every week, or if your raid group doesn't consist of a SPriest/boomkin (which in 10 mans I find quite common).
I tried to reach my hit cap the hard way a while ago from arcane, and found my DPS go down quite a bit, even on the training dummies.
To the OP - your gear looks moderately ok, but if you're looking to go FFB, you'll want a lot more crit. Try to shoot for around a base 30% unbuffed crit when you're specced frostfire. That's the only way you'll notice that you're making an increase in DPS. You have just about got the hit rating, and if there's a boomkin/Spriest in your group, you won't need anymore at all. I would consider trading your staff out for the titanium spellblade/ward of the violet citadel combo. It'll give you more spell power AND more hit rating, in case you decide to try the fire/ttw spec.
