You dont even need to have someone build you one and go through the hassle of putting it together if its something you aren't familiar with. Newegg sells pre-built desktops for fairly reasonable prices. Example:
$549 gaming desktop

I wouldn't buy this but that's just my $.02. Its not really that nice of a machine. sorry to rain on the parade but its just not that good.
Compared to what? Short of building it yourself you will not find a better machine or even a comparable one for anywhere near that price, even building it you're going to come out to about the same price once you factor in the OS and software. I know, I've built the 3 gaming desktops I have now. Not to insult you, but if you want to make statements like that please by all means provide a link to a better and equally priced machine. You wont find one.
He's not looking for high end thousand dollars worth of hardware, he's looking for a price range and above is about the best you'll get within a certain dollar amount. Pay attention please.
Im sorry its not all shiny and radioactive with too many LED lights for you!

What I said was far from throwing a hissy fit. I was simply saying that if you want to put in misinformed statements about a computer being a PoS for a $500 price range, then how about putting forth the effort to help out the OP with a link to a better comp in his price range rather than making snide comments that aren't of any help to anyone here?
I never said what I linked was the be all end all of gaming machines.
And I certainly never said I was a computer expert. I said out of the three desktops I have at the moment, I built them, simply giving you the information as to where I was pulling a $500-$600 price range from for parts vs pre-made. The price is comparable to the final product with software and hardware combined. I like how you think you were being attacked though, god bless the internet and its tough guys with sensitive egos! ;) But just so you know, the amount of systems I've built is somewhere closer to the 200 range. I do appriciate your concern though. <3
Anyhow, to the OP if you have a friend that will build for you, by all means find the parts you'd like and have them put together. I much prefer that to pre-built however the price on those pre-built systems are dropping drastically and the price difference isn't as great as it used to be.

I would grab
this
GFX card instead. There is no way anyone would need a first gen gfx card just to play WoW. I still use a 3rd gen gfx card in my HTPC (1st revision 8800 GTS) and it runs most modern games on medium to high settings without problems.
