Heya, kind of new to the world of macros, so I wanted to ask a quick question. You see, I've made a Death Knight by the name of Victor Fries (to the un-comic-book-oriented of you, it's Mr. Freeze's name from Batman) and have a desire to bank on the success of Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance as said character in the film Batman & Robin. What I want to do is make my character say (or yell) a Freeze quote with every spell cast, depending on the spell. "Freeze!" with Icy Touch, "Cold!" with Howling Blast, and, of course, "Let's kick some ice!" with Frost Strike. Now, a simple macro like /say ____, /cast _____ would be effective on a lower level, but when in the heat of combat sometimes you hit keys several times before the spell is cast, especially in laggy or PvP (see:panic) situations. While the macros are sure to annoy some players, I don't want it to be so annoying that I'm saying "Icy winter!" eight times before my spell is cast.
Long post short, is there a macro to filter out the /say portion if the spell is not cast for any reason? Like, a quick check to see if my spell executed before performing the second action?
Inspiration:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNaDZIrxh-0Just a courtesy suggestion... after the /cast line but before the /yell line, consider inserting a line with /stopmacro
this will yell what you want while you hold either shift, alt, or ctrl key and use the macro, but if you don't hold down the shift/alt/ctrl key then it will just cast without the yell.
example...
lets say you make a macro...
/cast moonfire
/stopmacro
/yell BOOM! HEADSHOT!...and you place the macro in the
1 action key slot.
You can spam the
1 key all day without yelling, but if you wanna yell the "headshot" you have to either press
+1 or
+1 or
+1. That way you don't accidentally annoy your friends and allies in the heat of battle.
To the rest of the people on his server: you're welcome. ;) j/k

There is an addon called SpeakinSpell that allows you to do this exact thing. It is VERY customizable (sp?). You can set it up to say a variety of things per spell/ability/debuff/health loss/death/etc.... Not only that, you can adjust how often it "says" something so that you are not spamming the heck out of the screen/chat window. You can set it by a percentage or something like "oncer per combat". Check it out at:
