With the new changes to seal of blood/martyr a Ret pally does not need healing to counter the recoil. They do however need healing to counter AoE dmg or accidental aggro. I was testing my DPS on a dummy with seal of blood and judgement of light.. My health stayed at 99%+ the whole time. So please FFS dont tell a Ret pally in a 5man pug "If you use Seal of Blood/Martyr, I will not heal you". It just makes you look lazy and uneducated in Pally mechanics. If another healer tells me this I will kick him and /activate holy spec. Finding another dps isnt that hard:)
I think a lot of people don't read the full patch notes when a new large patch comes out. They stick to what concerns them (general things, and their own class notes), so they easily skip over things like the Seal of Blood/Martyr change. I was testing on the dummy a couple hours ago, and maintaining 95%+ health the entire time as well, it was kinda nice.
Just educate them to the fact that your seal damage is countered by your Judgement effect, now. If they still don't understand, sure, kick them, but keep in mind they may not realize it before you tell them.
If you run into this with a Pally healer, however, they have no excuse...
In fact, if a ret pally is judging light (like he should be) and keeping Sacred Shield up on himself (like he should be) he will be taking no damage at all from the Recoil off Seal of Blood.
You don't need Sacred Shield to maintain health from the recoil. I usually put it on the tank in 10 mans because I'm often the only Paladin. :o

I tend to phase out bads from my group, and the Paladins that join never seem to be around long enough to count... so it's usually just me as Paladin. It sucks for them, too, since I have a pretty solid understanding of all 3 Paladin specs. Other classes have it easier, I don't know enough about them. :o

lol I'm the same way...although I know pally's dk's druids and priest pretty well, I get really really annoyed when people do something wrong on pallies for some reason(wrong spec/rotation/using SoComm/gearing for mp5), much more so than for other classes.

Odds are that these are the same ones who forbid warlocks to Life Tap :(

Oddly enough, I run into a lot of people that are opposite to that, warlocks that don't life tap at all, or Rets that refuse to use SoB because they don't want to cause stress on me (healing in this case). I usually just kinda laugh and tell them to lifetap/use SoB as intended and all will be well :)

I would think judging wisdom would work better than light, since it would replenish mana.
Lets say a ret paladin is in a party with a tank, two mages, and a healer. Wouldn't it be better to replenish mana than keep light, with only 2 people benefiting from it?
Personally I never heard a healer tell paladin to not use SoB.

I have no issues healing a Paladin's backlash damage. Reasons being
1: SoB does more dps
2: they buff me and drop replenishment to compensate for the extra mana needed to heal them.
Any healer who will not heal a Seal of Blood/Seal of the Martyr Paladin is a flat out noob, the paladin is giving you extra mana to HEAL with.

I ran into a demo warlock (on my resto/ele shaman) that told me he used his Felhound over his Felguard he needed the mp5 from the spirit buff and that Life Tap was useless.
He made me sad :(

Only one Paladin in a 10man? I seem to always have at least 3 in the 10mans I go to XD. Dam flavor of the month...
It's even better when you have three paladins, one of each spec (primary), who won't discuss blessing/judge/etc priorities.

Pally Power for blessings (not even a word needs to be said), and it's pretty simple for judging, Ret = light, Prot = wisdom, Holy = justice (if mobs run) or wisdom.

If you have 3 paladins, one of each spec, and they don't know what blessings to cast, they have some issues...
I love having 3 paladins in my raid, unless I'm prot I only have to cast on about half the classes (depending on whether I'm ret or holy at the time).

RETS, FFS stop making a big freaking deal about sob...its only ever the rets i see making a fuss about it not healers.
'ooh keep your beacon on me i'll need sob dmg healed'
'remem to keep a renew on me or i'll die' etc etc etc
let healers do their job and don't start yapping about it and you wont have a problem
