My guild follows your though. I dinged, bought made items, and started running heroics.
However, The real question is Can you do it. not Should you do it.
If you guys Can run Naxx and get some bosses down, then Do it. These raids are set up to "check" players stats, abilities, and play style. There is a Great sticky on it here at wowhead, but i dont remember where. So, in Truth - if you guys can actually Clear Naxx - then why not do it. If you wipe and wipe and wipe - go do heroics and up your gear.
The Raid will not allow 10 people putting out 1k DPS Make it through the Raid..... you dont "Get Lucky" when an Enrage timer goes off and you get Spanked for 45k damage =)

You can do +1 with nobody having any decent gear at all except for the healers and tanks if the dps at least listens. the whole +1 fight essentially sits on the tanks(picked up the adds) and healers(out lasting the fight)

If you want them to do heroics, take them to some heroics! People who want to learn will learn fast if given a teacher, those who do not will not and should be sent to the GM for a "pep talk" if you know what I mean.
If your dps need help learning their rotations, pull up the wowhead forum for their class, head to the stickies, and talk them into going to the nearest heroic target dummy with you and figure it out together.
My point is making threads on wowhead about them won't do you any good, offering yourself to work with them to improve will. Also the fast learners usually do fine going straight into raid, yes they'll be gimpy for a week or so but they learn how to learn a boss fight and get to sit in on the vent during it etc etc, they turn out just fine.
Also it is up to your GM (or raid lead depending on your guild heirarchy) on when to go to Ulduar, so its that person you need to worry about :D

The first post made me laugh a little. I absolutely loath Pally Power and I refuse to use it.
To get on topic though, there is nothing wrong with getting new people geared out very quickly as long as they know their class and have proven their loyalty to the guild. We just a couple of people in my guild start playing again after a long hiatus. They were officers before and were with the guild for a long time. Now they are back and there is no problem with raiding with them and getting them geared.
I think an issue a lot of guilds have with new 80s is with player retention. A lot of people end up flaking out and ditching to join another guild, only to repeat their actions again and again. Nobody wants gear to go to somebody who isn't going to help the guild progress into more difficult content. Also, it pains me to see people with epics that lack even a rudimentary knowledge of their class. I pugged hunter into Heroic OK the other day (2 actually). The first was decent enough - nothing special, but also not the worst DPS ever. The other though had a few epics equipped yet was doing around 500 DPS. This hunter had not purchased the level 80 skills, did not know the fundamentals of hunter DPS, and was completely clueless about gear. Bad player is bad, and does not deserve epic gear.

Fresh 80's through pure questing (almost all greens)?
-don't take to naxx
Fresh 80's with plenty of wotlk instancing (meaning all blues at least)
-can take to naxx, but you will still be carrying them.
Since you have some people geared well, and some totally fresh, the fastest way to bridge the gap is to carry them. Your going to need an experienced and well geared MT, Healer, and probably 3 great dps. Then you can probably carry a OT, another healer or 2, and the rest dps. The downside to this is, its basically your well geared people doing all the work and the fresh 80's completely leeching off of you. The more fair way would be for them to work at heroics (and it really doesn't take that long, a week tops) to gear up well from heroics at which point they will pull their own weight.
Don't try to carry more then 4-5 people, otherwise it will get pretty hard. And expect to fail, fail often and fail hard if those 80's don't have any raid experience. try to stay positive :)
