DK DPS - Unholy presence and haste in 3.1

Hi everyone,
I was always unholy spec before 3.1 usually in blood presence and did fairly well dps.
After 3.1 with almost the same specc I did like 400 to 600 dps less.
I had to start anew...
After fooling around a bit with different talents I came to the conclusion (at least for me) that unholy with a good portion of haste and crit made me strong again.
See my
specc
With the trinkets
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37390
and
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40684
And including four pieces of t7 set I do fairly well again in unholy presence in heroes.
Like everyone says that blood presence would be imperative for dps, I tried to do everything in blood.
On one hero run I decided to go for unholy the whole time and I ended up with 2,6k dps, which made me happy again.
I'd appreciate experiences and opinions from you.
Since I am still somewhat confused how to specc after 3.1

As Italiandk said, you're missing out on some key talents (BS and Gargoyle) by taking IHP, Dirge is oftenly excluded in many Unholy builds and seen as a minor dps increasing talent.
You're also loosing alot of dps by not taking BCB and (if timed and used vigorously) Ghoul frenzy.
Since your gear appears not to be the problem, and your dps improved when you tried out a (in my opinion) worse build, I'm wondering if there might be a problem when it comes to your rotation?
Are you AoEing enough in 5mans? :P
As for UH pres and IUP, I'm still sceptic about it, but it'll truly shine in fights where there's alot of target switching and movement.
For unholy, there's more or less 3 popular builds atm, 17/0/54, 12/0/59 and 0/10/61 I'd suggest you check some of them out and modify them depending on what you feel like.

I want to say that in fact I don't gem for example haste nor do I enchant anything that way...
what I meant was, that the haste from the IUP helps a lot to proc the crits even more (my crit unbuffed is around 34%). That said the
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37390
makes my crit proc rate even higher, which is an interesting dps plus.
Now about the
Two-Handed Weapon Specialization
I'm a bit wary. I never tried without those 2 talent points. Wouldn't I lose a massive amount of white dmg by not speccing that?
I figure that
Dirge
is not so much necessary, since the cooldowns of the runes is quite fast, I don't have much cd time.
Now one thing is quite interesting:
If I take 1 point out of
Epidemic
and the 2 points (as you suggested) out of
two hand weapon specialization
I end up having 3 points for
Blood Cake
with a 30% proc rate.
That might be interesting to try...
That build would then look like this:
Build
With
Bone Shield
it might be a good dps increase, but I figure that you lose that shield to easily and to often. So each time you get attacked you have to rebuff, yet with the 2 min cd after 3.1 it makes it a bit weak, in my opinion.
In addition, the 20% dmg reduction while the
Bone Shield
is up is a good talent for mitigation, so for tanking, but 2% more dmg (if you make like 2000 dps it would be a 40 dps plus) isn't worth the point, I think.
Italiandk, you realy have a good point with putting 3 points in Blood Cake....I'm going to try that.
Now, any thoughts about
Two-Hand Weapon Specialization
is this a must for dps or not?
I'm not sure about this...

I tried a lot of builds, especially the standard ones (in all trees blood, frost, unholy)
You are right, important is the rotation...
And I tried a lot at the dummy.
Right now, I think, my rotation is not the problem.
Single target:
IF-PS-BS-BS-SS-UB-SS-DC-SS-SS ---rinse and repeat
Multiple targets:
DnD-IF-PS-Pest-BB-BS-UB-SS-DC-BS-SS-DC ---and repeat
Honestly I was sceptical too with IUP, but it really improved my dps around 300 dps...
(as I mentioned in addition with a good portion of crit)

Well if your gear improved at the same time as your dps improved, I dont think you should give the spec all credit :p
Btw, even if you use Unholy presence > Blood presence because it "proccs more critts", keep in mind that all those hits would deal 15% less damage.
For instance:
Blood presence
100 hits for 1150 damage ==> 115000 total damage
Unhoyl presence:
115 hits for 1000 damage ==> 115000 total damage
Crit rating affects both sides in the same manner.
Making the end result the same. (in terms of white damage)
IHP is the way I see it, a great talent during encounters when there's alot of movement and by speeding up your rotation you'll be able to, for instance, complete a full rotation on that add before moving on to the next one.
If Bone shield is fading too quickly on you whilst dpsing, either your tank is doing a bad job or you're the one hitting the wrong targets :P
Final note: Get Gargoyle, it's the best dps cd for all DK's now with the nerfs to DRW, it's a must.
If you want a 17/0/54 build, I'd suggest this-isch:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVZZfMhIxcdxco0ssut
Switch out 2/2 epidemic and GF to 1/2 Epidemic and 2/2 IHP should you feel like it.
Edit: If you're close to your target, always begin with PS
Edit 2: And if your targets will live longer than 15seconds, it's better to start with Diseases - pest - DnD - UB - SS - BBx2 - SS - rune dump to get the RoR and Ebon plaguebringer on your targets (maxing the total dmg output from DnD)

Only commenting on the 2-handed Weapon Specialization - the 4% dmg bonus affects *ALL attacks made while using a 2h.*
All your strikes, BCB, white hits - go ahead and add 4%... not taking this is bad.
*Edit*
After looking at your spec you skipped Ghoul Frenzy, Gargoyle and took 5/5 Impurity. Impurity only improves the AP coefficient you already get on your spells. Minimum I would recommend shifting 1-2 points to BCB, adding GF and Gargoyle and moving 1 point from Wandering Plague to pick up Bone Shield.
