Hai
I got a lv 80 Death Knight Tank and a level 80 warlock. I was just wondering how much gear you need to go Ulduar without being "carried". I read some topics and saw people saying the opposite of each other. Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Is these toons geared?
Dk Tank
- Hope it is in Tanking gear ...
Warlock
- Dont think about my spec (i know that its bad.)
I did some 10 man bosses on my warlock and i had the feeling of being carried since i was the only without
Epic
...

Ye i realized that the moneys spend in duel spec could be better spend on that...

Ulduar10: full ilvl200 epics that are itemized for your spec/role/class, fully gemmed/enchanted, with an ilvl213 weapon and whatever ilvl213 drops from KT/Malygos/Sartharion apply to your spec/class.
Ulduar25: full ilvl213 epics that are itemized for your spec/role/class, fully gemmed/enchanted, with an ilvl226 weapon and whatever ilvl226 drops from KT/Malygos/Sartharion apply to your spec/class.
It's not rocket science. You need to be fully geared in the previous tier of raid content to be able to do the next tier without being carried.

I don't have an epic flyer, I don't have dual spec, I didn't buy the 7000gold ring for sure.
And why would I? Al this money is so much better spend on my gear :p.

Rubbish.
Im in mostly 200s, picked up my first 213 today and still have a few blues, including a depressingly bad trinket.
In 8 raid hours, we had U10 Siege and Kologarn down, and Steelbreaker/Maulgin, had trouble polishing Brundir off though.
Im below average gear for my guild, 1st on DPS.
We didnt cheese anything, we didnt really struggle too badly either, all attempts were either tactical errors or unfortunate coincidences and the occasional foul-up.
"Being carried" is meaningless, just have reasonable gear and you'll do fine.

You say rubbish, and then you say exactly the same thing that JaxOmen said. You are in Ulduar 10-man and you have all ilvl 200 gear (Naxx 10 / Heroic / Crafted stuff). That's where you should be.

Hardly. JaxOmen said full 200 to not be carried.
75% isnt full. (Legs, wrist, trinket, wand, MH were blue)
And, like I said, Im not just pulling my weight, but topping charts and debuffing, interrupting etc.
50% blue could do reasonably if they were well chosen blues.

WWS log of you topping charts + armory of your ^&*!ty gear or it didn't happen. Like most people, I do not recommend jumping into Ulduar without fully gearing in previous raid content (naxx) otherwise you are going to be carried, or a burden to the rest of the group.

We dont bother with WWS, we dont care about it. My DPS on 10 man bosses is usually around 3.5k

Pants acquired today, as was the wrist. MH got dropped on Sunday, got lucky on a PuG.
Havent been in Ulduar since, as you'll see on my Achievements page (Hot Pocket on the 23rd), along with the Spider 25 one, gained earlier today.
Its a fallacy thats been around a long time. Gear /> Player.

I will say that "fully geared in the previous raid tier" should NOT be considered a hard and fast rule. I would say having a good 75% of your slots filled with the previous tier would be good though.
And I will say that it depends on both the player and the class. From a DPS standpoint I can only speak personally from the position of a warlock. Here's my warlock:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Alterac+Mountains&n=Jinsem
Still has a junk blue helm and a green wand (I have an epic mp5 wand, but use the green one on bosses because of the hit). I also still have T5 boots and ZA and MGT trinkets. Still, I did a 10 man Emalon and was in the top two DPS with around 3800. On a recent Naxx 10 run I was on top with an overall (bosses and trash) DPS of around 3200.
Oh, and back to the original question: The warlock is fine for Ulduar 25 man. I wouldn't take that tank to 25 man, but he might do okay in 10 man.

Don't forget it's also about skill.

Ulduar 10:
Range DPS - iLvL 200 with a few 213s.
Tanks - Full iLvL 213s (or you will wipe on Mimiron P1 and never get further)
Healers - iLvL 200 with a few 213s.
Everyone: THREE QUARTERS of a brain.
Ulduar 25:
A COMPLETE brain, and some geared-ass people.

You are saying about how you're skilled so it dosn't matter if you have crappy gear, but how about if you are all skilled, and all have good gear. That's when you know your guild is decent and your not getting carried. 3.5k dps? That's the lowest in our Ulduar runs, apart from tanks, not the highest.
On 10 mans?
Ive not seen anyone break 4k sustained.Guild run or PuG.
I agree, for 25s, its minimum, but 10s are not 25s. We dont have the best progress, but we are doing it our way, with friends and as a guild, for fun. Not as a collection of loot@#$%^s and metermaids all desperate for personal glory.Noone is slacking, all 2.5k+, and we havent seen a single enrage timer. We may not be doing it your way, but it works. You just dont need OMGUBEREPIX. You need reasonable gear, average ilevel 190-195 maybe, and you need to know what to do.
Tanks do need high quality gear for the simple damage bosses do, but, if anything, the required gear depends entirely on who you are running with and the gear of the RAID, not any one individual.
