If your parents are rude enough to shun you because of YOUR career choice, then no offense, but they're not people you should be around. Also, there is quite a bit of competition in medicine.
Do what
YOU
like. They've already made their career choices, they should let you make yours.

No, they will not shun me, of course, I have already explained my reasons of why they want me to choose medicine. And it's really hard to willingly disappoint one's parents, but I have to choose what I want, I guess./sigh

You ALWAYS should take your parent's opinion into high consideration, but it really comes down to what you want.

That sucks that they're putting you in a situation where you could disappoint them. My older brother became a computer engineer like my parents, but they were perfectly happy for me when I decided to major in Actuarial Sciences.

They just think that medicine is better for me, and it does suck, yes.

You should
make
them recognize your situation, they need to walk in your shoes as if their parents had tried to push them into something they don't want to do and would have to do every day as an occupation.

Tried that, they keep claiming that I will love medicine, and will be good at it.
Edit: @ making them recognize my situation.

Then they're just stubborn. Go for physics, its what you like. Its your choice.
You
will have to go through grueling years of school for a career
You
will have to go to every day.
Your choice is to do a job you dislike and aren't even very good at for the rest of your life with slightly happier parents, or do a job you highly enjoy for the rest of your life with disappointed parents that should get over their disappointment in a few months after the decision.

They're not stubborn. Its likely that both of them enjoyed medicine, so they have a hard time seeing how someone wouldn't. Makes perfect sense to me.

2: performed or carried on in an unyielding, obstinate, or persistent manner <stubborn effort>
Yes, they're quite stubborn. Especially if they think their career is the only way to go for their son since its good for them.

Where in this thread has ASHelmy said that his parents think that's the only career choice? They just think its his best option, and every parent wants their child to do what's best for them.

He didn't. But it doesn't seem as they're open to much options.
I can assume that after ASH said they had an "epic" argument over 2 fine career choices.
Edit: ASHelmy, I didn't mean it like they want you to be a mirror image of them. I meant they seem extremely persistent for you to choose their career.

Yea, I know, but they want that cause they think it's best, like TheMediator said.

I don't like pushy parents.
At all.
This is why I'm so glad I have tolerant parents.
And I'm an Asian. Imagine that.
