Why I made a twink....
For me, I made an alt to other realm, I wanted to do a shaman.. (and I don´t like dranei) so I made an orc. I was still levelling my main on alliance (drood).. but started to play shaman every now and then.. this was a bit after BC came out when I started to play...
When I got main to 70 (lv cap at that time) I didn´t play my shammy... he was left to lv 30 or so.... After all done at lv 70... (arenas, BG`s, raids) I got bored... so semitwinked shammy (resto at lv49) Then I started a loc... and as I dont like questing, my main charr "maxed" It was just fun to play PvP with shammy. =)
As WotLK came out I started to play that lock.. but as I now had two charrs to lv (drood and lock) I wanted to play PvP, and luckily I have that lv49resto-shammy-semitwink =)
And for those... Good geared semitwink dosen´t tae that much time or money... I had like 1000G before any of my horde charrs werre lv40.. so twinking is not a problem.
Playing good geared charr is always more fun tahn crap-geared. and I don´t have a chance in one vs one agains encshammy or ret pally twink.. as Im resto... So I need to play with others. =)
Playing a twink is fun.
Only sad thing is taht in Battlegroup RUIN (lv49), there´s hardly ever players enough to even get into a BG =( and there are, seldom anyone wants teamwork. Luckily, the battlegroup is now merged.. Hoping that there will be more players! =)

And don't say it's because you have a life that you can't take the time to get the gear...you took the time to get to 80, and you took the time to make a twink and play it...you are lazy.

I won't pretend I fully understood what Xcr said, I didn't. Batman is, however, right, mainly because of how gear scales.
A twink does not need his gear to scale. Blizzard won't add constantly newer items to any levels that are not the level cap. So, creating a twink ensures he's always with the best gear there is. To get the absolute best gear at 80, however, you have to grind it endless times with each patches. A 19 twink created in 2007 should still be very strong, give or take a couple of pieces or enchants disabled. A full Deadly gladiator is not as deadly as he was once.
WoW gear maxing requires always quite some dedication, don't pretend it doesn't. A casual player will take a lot of time maxing level; if he plays an average hour per day, he's out of the raiding scenario, and completely out of pvp gear maxing (you won't make many arena matches in a very limited time schedule, and to grind a single piece of equipment, it takes above 30k honor - a lot translated into time per BG). By the time he's done with the tier pieces, a new patch is out.
Gear is not hard to get diffculty-wise. It is, and a LOT, time wise. A twink, however, once maxed, is done.

Meh, people twink to twink.
I'm not sure they really need a purpose. I'd quite honestly be shocked if there was that large of a population being "owned" by twinks that are being that effected.

People twink because they can! Having a main is usually the only way a real twink gets made, so honestly why not? Maybe just DON'T do those bgs? Or actually work on your gear if you care about it that much?

So much skillz are required to kill a non-twink as a twink.
I meant skills as in he leveled to 80 and now has a main.
It takes at least a little skill to lvl to 80 ;D

Someone can still have a main but still not know that the heck they're doing. Most of the people I've seen play are keyboard turners.
Haha well there's no doubt about that, but at the same time, if they have the funds from their main and are that interested in making a twink, its either because they're tired of raiding, no sufficient way for them to raid, or just simply have no skill, as you stated before. But I find it really hard to believe a crappy level 80 would invest so much into a twink just to kill guys. Sounds a bit off to me.

Sure does, thats why every tank is a good tank, every healer is a good healer and every dps is a good dps.
What I mean is: Levelling isn't hard, doesn't matter your class or even your spec.It just takes time.
Not even gold making is hard nowadays.
Thats not really what I'm trying to say :P
Quite honestly most people only have twinks to blow off some steam.
Very few are just low-lifes out picking on new players. If you really wanted to do that, they'd be on a pvp realm farming Hillsbrad >.>
And if those low levels are really that irratated by twinks, wouldn't that encourage them to just get better?
I'm just trying to say that they're will always be twinks, unjustified or not. Its practically part of WoW lower lvl bgs.

hey idiots, people twink because its FUN. END OF STORY.
It's fun to run around your battleground knowing that you have some of the best gear out of everyone there. And dont pretend it isnt.
It's fun being better than some people, and again, dont pretend it isnt. If you dont like twinks, thats fine, but dont tell me i shouldnt twink just because you dont have gear to match. The gear we use is avalible to everyone, and if twinking doesnt take skill, then why arent you good at it to? You go into a lower level battleground KNOWING there will be twinks, why dont you come prepared? Do a few instance runs and get decent gear before you charge into a bg at 19 or 29 or whatever to get your precious blues.
Also, stop telling me i twink because im not good at 80 or because im lazy. I have a fairly well geared level 80, but there is down time at 80. between doing my dailies and raiding there is sometimes a few hours where nothing is going on irl or ingame, so rather than troll around in trade or completely wasting my time, i chose to twink.
As stated at the top, i twink because it's fun, so shut up about it.

people have their own definition of fun, just because you dont like what they do doesnt mean they cant do what they want to do. as for twinking i dont suck at 80 but neither am i a pro at my resto druid twink. i twink because i hate leveling, and playing a dps class without being able to tank or heal gets bored for me so i occasionally go on my druid to heal.
