Laihendi addressed the last thing you said to him and you ignored him.
Get used to being ignored by me.

Get used to being ignored by me.
So Laihendi directly addresses what you say when you tell him to, and since you can't offer a reason for why Laihendi is wrong you ignore him?

Hmmm.... Dunno if I agree with this one. Stasticially, looking at different parts of the world... disease rates, poverty rates, etc, are lower in areas with distinct religions.
I believe on the Pope's last visit to Africa... he made a public statement to his followers there, that he thought that condoms increases the risk of A.I.D.S.
I don't necessarily believe that more religion=less morality... I just think that anything, taken incorrectly or through poor judgment, could lead to some serious crap.
The Pope is obviously a man. He is full of errors. One of the problems with Catholicism is the belief of Palpal Infalacy. The paradox happened when a past pope called an earlier pope a heritic, and that linage of palpacy had lead to him being named pope.
Catholicism is human enhanced Christianity. Enhanced for the better? That has yet to be seen.
I agree with: Anything, taken incorrectly or through poor judgment, could lead to some serious crap.
Edit: Laihendi... you should stop talking and watch how a debate is formulated and executed. Once you have learned, then you are welcome to exercise your newfound skills. Until you can walk, please don't try running in our marathon.

Ignoring someone because you disagree with him is a good debating skill.
Oh hey 4,000 posts.

Is it just Catholicism though? Isn't it
any
religion that is "human enhanced"? It's humans that speak the doctrines, interpret the writings,
write
the writings. I keep hearing that humans are inherently flawed (even though god isn't)- I believe that
because
of this, religions tend to be flawed.
I agree whole heartedly. Unless God specifically said 'You write this down', then why should I believe someone's writings? If God told someone to write down what he said though, it makes sense that He would choose a vessle of communication to which He intended. It is when people fabricate, try to enhance, or misinterperret when things go wrong. I view a 'religion' as something of that sort. I see Christianity, true Christianity, as completely separate from relgion. Christianity is extremely rare.

Ignoring someone because they are trying to get a rise out of you is, like you are doing to me right now.

You still haven't said anything about...
The bible is supposed to be the word of God. If it says it's ok to beat your slave as long as he/she doesn't die, you can't just say "oh well God didn't really want that to happen". If the bible really taught timeless values, then you wouldn't be able to say that is was progressive "for it's time".
And you accuse Laihendi of not addressing what you say, even though that is a direct response to what you last said to him concerning slavery in the bible.

The youtube video in the other thread you ignore, the Wall street journal that you compared to the flat earth society, the other passages from the Bible I adressed in response to you.... all ignored... as you will be now.
I live my life by something similar, but I don't call it Christianity. I call it my own common sense. If my common sense leads me to follow similar teachings as those in Christianity, then fine. If it leads me to pick up stuff from Judaism, good stuff too. Buhdism, great. Hinduism, Islam, etc (maybe not Scientology). But my common sense doesn't have me believing every story in any of those religions, definitely not. My common sense doesn't have me denying every story in those religions either.Interesting. I admire anyone who comes up with thier own views, instead of just buying into something because someone says to. My common sense has led me to conclude that all of Christianity is good. That seems to be our only difference.

Your "common sense" sucks then, if you believe that its ok to beat slaves. That's part of Christianity.

I don't believe it is ok to beat slaves. That was never taught by Christ, and was a part of the Jewish law. You don't have to rely on pointing out JUST slavery to try to discredit Christianity through the old testament. You can point out a number of different things that the Jewish law allowed, and then God
must have
then endorsed, since the Jews were His people. The fact is though, that God intended us to live in a garden and keep him company. There were no slaves. Death, slavery, murder, torture, adultery, domestic violence... all things there were ok in one form or fashion under Jewish law. God obviously did not want this to continue, so He sent His son who gave instruction to the point of Loving your neighbor, and giving away your possessions... helping others and such. God has been around when humans have done awful awful things, and used those humans, even when they are terrible, to try and have a relationship.

Christianity is Judaism plus believing that Jesus was the son of god and that you should be nicer to people, that's the basic jist of it. I don't think at any time Jesus said that you could throw out the old testament and believe solely what he says.

The old testament doesn't agree with contemporary American values so people ignore it.
