But but... a single verse, when isolated, says something that is bad.....

Whether it's isolated or not, it's still saying that slaves should listen to their master, and it's ok for the master to beat the slave as long as it doesn't die. Maybe you fail to realize that you're clinging to your book even when there are obvious flaws in it?

Forget arguing for the sake of arguing for a second. You can't actually think that the Bible is universally true in every respect because you can interpret it in a way that makes it sound true - regardless of what is actually written inside.
That's like saying that "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is universally true because I could interpret it in a similar fashion.

When you read the Bible literally, you fail.So much for it being true in all ways shapes and forms.
I remember the days when Laihendi would argue with reason, and dignity.... wait a second... I don't remember that at all.
"Because it contradicts my beliefs, it is without reason and dignity!"

Wow, you're getting pretty desperate.

Yes, but WHY do you believe in slavery? (You see how annoying this can get?)

Yes, but WHY do you believe in slavery? (You see how annoying this can get?)The difference is that Laihendi is quoting the Bible, whereas the bible was dictating what is right and wrong.
And Laihendi was quoting entire passages out of the bible.

does the bible say " slavery good bad evil right wrong"? or were the slave laws said by the bible just covering the time period when slavery was excepted?
If the bible was just covering the time period, then it represents the customs of that time, and not truth "all ways shapes and forms".

Laihendi doesn't know enough specific details about those religions to get into a big debate about them.

But they believe in a God! How can they prove that? Their God, therefore, must not exist!
Right? Isn't that what you believe?
That is WAY off topic.
