Death Knights are member of the Knights of the Ebon Blade (duh?), they are usually loyal to Darion Mograine. I s'pose a forsaken death knight could aim his/her loyalties back to Sylvanas, and even be accepted back to Forsaken... I even suppose any other race could wow allegiance to their faction - that of which they were when alive - but having seriously hard trust issues. Thusly, 99% of the Acherus Death Knights, the ones we play, are of the Knights of the Ebon Blade.
I might write some tips on how to roleplay a death knight later on, but I wanted to nitpick on this faction issue.

Just wanted to correct a few points on the Night elfs..They were originaly know as kaldorei not trolls and also Sargeras felt the ripples of energy given off by the highborne and manipulated Ashara into summoning him.
Corrrection:
They were originally trolls, evolved into Kaldorei.

Correction: That has never been proven. The first sentient races were called just that - humanoids near the well of eternity. The lore doesn't state if elves evolved from trolls or not, altough it hints it. But - when you go in to ulduar, there are 3 "statues": Tauren, Night Elf and Trolls. This leads me to believe that Nelves & trolls were a separate race even ages past.

Illidan betrayed his people in the war of the ancients cause he was jealous Tyrande was in love with Malfurion not him, so joined up with Aszhara to kill his brother then save the night elf people and win the love.......or we can just call him general emo lol.
Don't forget, the reason he wear's that bandana is cause Sargaras ripped his eyes out and replaced them with the fel energy that lets him see magic.

Adamsm! Most actions have minimum one positive reason. He stole the skull of Gul'dan to have an energy to save his nation of night elves from domination of Man'ari eredar Archimonde. Secomd reason was showing his brother Malfurion Stormrage his place and take the love of Tyrande Whiperwind.

Yes, but he also ate the skull of gul'dan to make himself more powerful. You can tally up all of Illdian's good points, but dont forget, he was still a power hungry creature, he gave up on his druidism teaching and went to arcane and the highborne because it was easier and faster then putting in the work for becoming a druid.

Between good and evil is very narrow border. And often accepting evil has positive reason, but most of mortals don't looking forward to all possible results. For example: if person (or creature) to gain positive goal needs more powerful resources, what he hasn't, he can accept the help from dark side. But none of us thinks that dark side takes all our spirit.
